Last roundup of Fear Of Tigers’ Pippi reMix competition.

Tiger

As Fear Of Tigers’ ‘The Adventures Of Pippi Longstrump’ reMix competition draws to a close here is our sixth and final round up of some of the better entries we have missed so far.

Four entries today. First up Portugal’s Cut Slack sets the bar pretty high with a storming Nu-Disco mix that swaps the euphoric riff for some smooth licks. Follow Me’s galactic rock jam is a power drum workout with a growling bassline that only occasionally gives way to some sweet Disco. Collins does a pretty good job of updating the original with an ear for ‘80’s synthesizer melody with epic and uplifting production while Cuica submit a laid back, Flute infused, beach Disco take on the track.

Fabian’s début album

fabian

Yesterday saw the release of long time electronic rumors favourite Fabian’s début full length album hot of the back of the highly acclaimed ‘last Flight’ single and a storming reMix for The Magician’s new Kitsuné record.

The album, ‘Say Goodbye’ feels like a culmination of everything Fabian has learn in the past few years of solo productions, DJing, and as half of the founders of LexiconDon, during the emergence of Dreamwave and the LA ElectroPop scene. Alongside classic Fabian tunes like ‘Heatwave’, one of the tracks Dreamwave was built on and the latest single ‘Last Flight’ which has everyone in the know going crazy, ‘Say Goodbye’ hold a whole host of killer tunes that span Fabian’s range. From smooth ElectroPop to dancefloor shaking Electro to Funked up Disco tunes. The album is liberally sprinkled with shimmering synths, vocoders, and just about everything you want from and electronic album, there’s a track for every mood. Most of the time, though, your mood after slapping on this album will be ‘get up and dance’.

Daze reMixes Chromeo

chromeo

Better late than never Daze turns up to the ‘Hot Mess’ reMix party with his take on the Chromeo tune.

As well as bringing a bottle Daze comes loaded with thick 70’s synths and squelchy basslines. It’s pretty hard to stand out from the pack in the game that is reMixing ‘Hot Mess’ but Daze does his job by producing a Disco tune that is that tiny bit more retro than everyone else. This is a late night jam.

Chroemo’s ‘When The Night Falls’ single is out now and taken from their amazing ‘Business Casual ‘ album.

Can love be a synth?

golem_02.09SMALL

Photographer Katja Ruge has snapped some of the great of SynthPop and post-punk in her almost legendary carrier and still is the go to girl for portraits of some of the lading lights in electronic music.

Alongside her LoveGang artist/DJ collective have been throwing ‘Kann denn Liebe Synthie sein?’ (‘Can love be a synth?’) SynthPop parties (as well as their LoveGang parties) to which Katji also added and photography/design exhibition based around classic analog synths. Giant tiled tributes to the synths that rock our world, photographed from Sunny and Frank’s SynthesizerStudio in hamburg, are on display at Achteinhalb Store in Berlin.

Katja Ruge

To celebrate the success of the show Katja and crew are going out with a closing day party on the 10th September when you can enjoy the work, listen to some tunes and get the chance to walk home with a synth peice of your own.
