The Golden Filter premières ‘Syndromes’

The Golden Filter have premièred their ‘Syndromes’ short film on the Future Shorts YouTube channel.

I won’t give away any spoilers ‘cos it’s embedded just below and only ten minutes long, so you should watch it. I don’t know of The Golden Filter or director Kristoffer Borgli would thank me for calling it a post-modern superhero movie, but I’m going to anyway.

The soundtrack is amazing!

The movie is officially released along with the New York avant-Disco duo’s soundtrack on the 10th.

A whole host of Strange Talk reMixes

strange talk

Usually when so many tracks or reMixes arrive in the inbox over the a few weeks the artist has got something new to sell.

Not so with Strange Talk. You’ve already heard the EP, you’ve seen the videos, heard the reMixes, you already bounced around all summer to ‘Climbing Walls’, no here is some new reMixes just to let you know that the guys are still here, touring Australia right now, and will be back soonish with a new single. That’s it, just like “Hello, we’re still here, have a some reMixes from Van She and Tim Fuchs. Laters”. So enjoy a welcome return from Van She Tech and their bassy Disco mix, Strange Talk’s own analog ‘80’s ElectroPop workout and Mr. Fuchs’ Deep House take on ‘Eskimo Boy’ and remember, Strange Talk aren’t dead.

Xeno & Oaklander’s ‘Open Walls’

Xeno & Oaklander

The king & queen of post-Futurist SynthPop, or Minimal Synth, or whatever Xeno & Oaklander return later in  October with a brand new album, ‘Set & Lights’.

‘Open Walls’ is a taste of what you can expect from the new record. Slightly more upbeat than you would expect from X&O. Full of the duo’s trademark icy analog synth work and the interweaving of deadpan and ethereal vocals, the track has all the elements of back room Minimal-Synth there, but also contains something of a bounce to it. It’s a nice compliment to ‘The Staircase’ and bodes well for the forthcoming album.

New music from Pyramid

Pyramid

What starts at an tabla lead chunk of dubby electronica soon warps into a Sci-Fi soundscape in Pyramid’s new tune.

Futuristic and beautiful, ‘Space Wind’, with it’s Sci-Fi elements, it’s harsh wind undercurrent and it’s ethnic percussion, to me anyway, is kinda’ what I imagine as a Dune soundtrack (to the books, not David Lynch’s peice of shit). It’s big synth chords fading into the distance, almost lost amongst the sheer space of this tune. If you like your synthesizer music Disco informed, but a little more otherworldly then Pyramid is the guy for you.

Pyramid’s album, ‘Lost In Space’ is out now.

Rhythm Droid’s ‘Sunrise On Planet Tokyo’

Rhythm Droid

Tokyo based producer Rhythm Droid drops a new single for Sunlinxx next week. It’s gonna’ be huge!

‘Sunrise On Planet Tokyo’ is an epic seven minutes but never gets boring, there’s always a new layer, a new musical insert about to happen in the track. Taking the best of beach Dreamwave and late night Nu-Disco, Rhythm Droid takes the listen, or dancer, on a journey that’s set up by a simple, but infectious hook that is used to always deliver something new. Label buddy Keenhouse in on the reMix with a euphoric hands-in-the-air track that uses the riff from the original to full on Balearic  effect to provide a base to let Ken go crazy with his freestyle funk playing style. This is an excellent release that we predict will be blowing up clubs for the next few months at least.

Goldroom reMixes Small Pyramids

Small Pyramids

Binary and NightWaves man Josh Legg is back in a Goldroom state of mind as he drops his newest reMix, for fellow LA producer Small Pyramids.

Small Pyramids’ début single. ‘I Want Blood’ is transformed into the slickest of slick beach Disco tunes. It really feels like Josh is hitting his stride with his yacht vibed Disco now and has carved out quite a unique sound for himself, incorporating elements of Indie-Electro, Dreamwave and Nu-Disco and giving then that sailing sheen. With this mix he certainly gets his groove on, with a smooth funk bass and wicked little licks, but a soaring synth lead is never far away. Enjoy in he sun with friends.

Moon Boots’ new single

moonboots

After the blog destroying ‘Gopher It’ American synth Disco producer Moon Boots is back with a brand new single for French Express.

‘Off My Mind’ is a deep grooved slice of electronic funky House. Of course we’re immediately won over by the cowbells, but beyond that is an insanely funky track that is layered thick with fat synth sounds like a Disco cake. The big bass and retro chords and added to with a smooth, and subtly used, vocal hook. This vocal hook is cut-up and inserted into the rhythm of Rogue Vogue’s old school piano House reMix of the track that is so Chicago that is brings back memories, despite being released today!

T&K’s début album

t&k

T&K are a French ElectroPop duo who are gearing up for the late October release of their début album on On The Fruit Records.

Having had a few tracks floating around for the last few years this album represents everything the pair have been building over their career. Both he tracks ‘Line Of Light’ and ‘On Your hands’ are doing the blog rounds right now and both are very good examples of the type of ElectroPop to be found on the record. T&K’s sound is, confusingly, 50% really French, but also, strangely,50% really English. Their sound is deeply rooted in early British SynthPop, both in attitude & approach and sound but is given such a distinct French twist it’s unmissable. Much of the album sounds, to me, like a purely electronic, female fronted version of The Teenagers, the tracks have a similar structure, with a hint of Saint Etienne. This is easily one of the purest SynthPop albums to be released this year. With it’s intricate attention to melody and it’s quirky French leanings I’d say this record is pretty recommended.
