The Magician is on a total roll recently. Killer reMix after Killer reMix. Maybe Aeroplane splitting up was a good thing after all?
Taking Yuksek’s forthcoming new single Stephen Fasano has transformed it into a bouncy, Moog heavy, Nu-Disco groover with some amazing 90’s piano and just the right amount of cowbell. Both The Magician and Vito’s new Aeroplane have done some amazing work this year and, after all, two act is better than one! We’ll also be very interested to hear the new Yuksek album, ‘Living On The Edge of Time’. We really enjoyed the last one, let’s see if he can do it again.
♫ Yuksek – On A Train (The Magician reMix)
The ‘On A Train’ EP is out 2nd May with a reMix from Gucci Vump as well.
Peter & The Magician is, of course Yuksek and Stephen Fasano, ex-one half of Aeroplane, both awesome producers in their own right. This collaboration between the two that appears on Kitsuné’s latest Maison compilation, Vol. 11, is some of the dopest analog disco you will hear in a while.
‘Twist’ mashes-up Yuksek’s vocoder love with The Magician’s Disco funk into something pretty special. I think so anyway, opinion seems to be divided about this track but, for me, it’s hit all the right synthesizer buttons. This is the kinda’ track that would have me melting into the dancefloor.
The Magician has also reMixes Yuksek’s forthcoming new (comeback?) single ‘On The Train’, you can hear it in his new mixtape here.
It’s been a while since we wrote about them here, now there’s finally some movement on the Vandroid front.
More tracks from the soundtrack to the mythical 1984 Sci-Fi action movie Vandroid have surfaced. As you might recall the first of the Vandroid tracks we heard was the Van She Tech reMix, now reMixes from Yuksek, Fred Falke, Boy 8-Bit and Siriusmo have been unearthed and put together in the form of the ‘Master And Slave’ reMixes EP..
First up, this Yuksek reMix is one of the best things I have heard all year, no question, pure Nu-Disco, ElectroPop brilliance with that slightly rough sound from his album. Using the vocals sparsely, but to rad effect Yuksek really knocks it out the park. Fred Falke’s is wicked too. Stripping the track down to an, almost Industrial, Electro Rock track. These are backed up by Boy 8-Bits’ deep Electro groove as be brings a hypnotic track with some standout distorted synth percussion and Siriusmo’s cut-up Disco take on the track.
The Vandroid project is totally exiting, not just ‘cos some of the biggest names in Electro are contributing some of their best work, but because they have made the whole thing fun, interesting and addictive. It’s a pity we’ll never actually get to see the movie!”
This weekend Annie Mac premiered one of the reMixes featuring on Fenech-Soler’s forthcoming single, ‘Demons’ on her show.
A reMix by none other than Yuksek, a man from whom we hear far to little. This new Yuksek production is just as badass as we remember him and takes an already incredible song and turns it into a deep Electro Disco epic.
Things have been quiet of late from the awesome Yuksek camp, so much so I’d nearly forgotten about him, but showing us he’s still alive he’s back here to reMix the new single from Oh Land .
Oh Land is Nanna Øland Fabricius, a Dane living in New York who’s music is eclectic, slightly jazzy, singer/songwriter stuff. Yuksek’s reMix of ‘Son Of a Gun’ is pure electro funk. Not as frantic as previous Yuksek productions, there’s more of a steady groove going on on this track. and it’s better for it!
I do like a bit of Gorillaz when the mood takes me and I pretty much love Yuksek’s music whenever/wherever so this reMix combination is a tasty deal!
It doesn’t disappoint. Yuksek brings quite a mid-tempo Electro flavour, it’s like a chilled out version of one of his bangers complete with the customary Yuksek drops and builds.
The week in Bangers: While electronic rumors isn’t strictly an Electro-House blog, we do cover a lot of Electro-House that crosses over in to our realm. So many good club tunes and reMixes surface each week we can’t (and wouldn’t) cover them all, so this is a round up of some of the best from the week that we didn’t have time to dedicate individual posts to…
autoKratz & Yuksek, that’s some Electro heavy hitters right there!. autoKratz are slowely gearinh up to drop some new material. This reMix of ‘Always more’ by Yuksek is taken from the latest Kitsuné Maison compilation ‘The Lucky One’ (Vol. 7).
This reMix boasts such a killer bassline there are no words to express the funk!
Tomorrow sees the digital release of Yuksek‘s début album ‘Away From The Sea’ (the physical release is 2nd February) and it promises to be a noisy Nu-Disco ElectroPop scorcher.
A French producer making French Electro; Yuksek has plied up loads of big name reMixes over the last couple of years, everyone from Kaiser Chiefs to GhostfaceKillah , making this album pretty eagerly awaited.
If the likes of ‘Extraball’ are any indication, it’s not going to dissapoint!
