[Audio] autoKratz’s ‘Push’

London based all-round electronic music voyagers autoKratz has a new single in the pipeline. The duo are referring to the track as their “I ain’t gone soft” moment, as the track takes leave of their usual ElectroPop persona and revels in their love of all things House and Techno (fans of their record label, Bad Life, can testify to this). Push succeeds in reminding people that autoKratz can make some of the grittiest, dirtiest dance music around.

Pure jacking vibes abound on this one. It’s full of Chicago-esque House madness fit for dim, strobe-light lit, warehouse raves. From the deep deep kick to the stabbing lead keys, you couldn’t ask for more of a hypnotic House tune to get lost in on the dancefloor. It’s not all noise noise noise either; autoKratz definitely ain’t gone soft, but they can still bring the grove.

[Audio] autoKratz’s ‘Midnight Hearts’

There a new single from London Techno loving ElectroPop duo autoKratz! It’s been 16 months since their last record, and we always worry that they are going to disappear into Techno obscurity when they don;t release new tune, but fear not, this new single has enough ElectroPop at it;s heart, and amongst the machine beats, to keep us all happy.

The A-side, Midnight Hearts, works a prober Deep House groove and sweeping 80s SynthPop vocals. Strange bedfellows? Maybe, but autoKratz make it work perfectly, combing the best of nostalgia and London’s current club scene, with a dash of Tropical, for a serious floorfiller. That bassline alone is infectious as hell. The B-side, takes things even deeper. Mysterious synths and retro-futuristic beats couple with whispered vocals to deliver an early Detroit, by way of Gary Numan, vibe. An excellent return to form for these two.

If you like raw House, late 80s bleepy grooves and strobing warehouse vibes then you’ve come to the right place. Here’s the latest reMix from London based dirty Disco peddler Sharooz. This one is a reMix of Once Upon A Time In The Projects, from autoKratz man David AKZ.

This is a tune that proper takes us back. Those clean drum machine beats, the gritty hooks, the floor moving basslines, the claps and whistles, this one’s got it all. Slowly building in the way all good House tracks should, when the reMix kicks in it goes full throttle with all the funk of a Summer Of Love anthem. Now, where are my white gloves?

autoKratz’s ‘Devil’s Touch’

Thank fuck for that! Proper autoKratz are back! autoKratz tend to be a bit amazing hit and miss. When they are being autoKratz, and producing pretty hard ElectroPop tracks they can be jaw droppingly good, but the whole Bad Life techno thing was just pretty tedious. So it’s with open arms we welcome the return of actual autoKratz.

Devil’s Touch ticks all the right boxes, it’s got a nice ElectroPop flow and some subtly anthemic vocals, set amongst a big Rave track. The track’s actually got a slight underworld flavour to it, and brings the listener up and down like the best underworld tracks do. I can see this track rocking the festivals this season. The Rave lead and piano riff are big enough to make it a hypnotic hymn to hold a congregation while the dips and builds make for some big party moments.

autoKratz cover New Order

Following on from their team up with New Order’s Peter Hook for their last single ‘Becoming The Wraith’, autoKratz had paid tribute to their collaborator by covering on of my favourite New Order tracks, ‘Temptation’.

It’s a nice update to the original. A pretty straight cover with a kicking beat added and a touch of modern production to bring the song into the 21st century. It’s hard to imagine anyone other than Bernard Sumner singing ‘Temptation’ but autoKratz’ David Cox’s vocals lend themselves really well to the track. I’m loving all the New Order connections autoKratz are pulling out in the run up to their new album, ’Self help For Beginners’, being release. If the album has this kind of vibe then it could be something special indeed.

autoKratz’ new video with Peter Hook

This is the video for autoKratz’ new single ‘Becoming The Wraith’ which features, both on the track and in the video, the Bass talents of New Order/Monaco/Joy Division’s Peter Hook.

‘Becoming The Wraith’ is the most straight -up ElectroPop track autoKratz have dropped to date and Hooky’s playing just adds that Indie quality to the track. It’s pretty hard for anything with Hooky on not to sound a bit like New Order, but it is nice to see him slinging his bass low on ElectroPop tracks again rather than having a barny on Twitter with Indie tosspots.

‘Becoming The Wraith’ is defiantly the most accessible the autoKratz have ever been, and possible the best.

autoKratz new album news

autoKratz have announced the release date for their forthcoming second (or third, depending on your view) album ‘Self Help For Beginners’.

The album will be released on the end of May on the band’s newly launched label, Bad Life (who have also signed NT89, TWR72, Sovnger and 10Rapid) and will feature guest spots from the likes of Peter Hook (Joy Division/New Order), Andrew Innes (Primal Scream) and Jagz Kooner. To celebrate the news autoKratz have dropped this free track from ‘Self Help For Beginners’, ‘A-Train’ is a full on Electro dancefloor juggernaut. Growling basses and in you face synth sounds, a banger the likes of we haven’t heard in a while!

autoKratz get reMixed by North Lights

London’s noisy ElectroPop kings autoKratz’s new single is pretty eagerly awaited round these parts, everything we hear from it is sounding awesome.

Like this reMix from North Lights, which is Junior Thibaut, ex-one third of Disco trio Perseus, who turn in an awesome Dreamwavey Nu-Disco take on the track. Pumping up both the Electro and the Pop aspects of the track with a big slice of Disco in the breakdown. This was actually the last track that Perseus, as a trio, produced together before going their separate ways. I’m sure we can expect great things from both Perseus (as it is now) and North Lights.

autoKratz return with ‘Opposite Of Love’

London’s noisy ElectroPoppers autoKratz return in January with a brand new single, ‘Opposite Of Love’, and here we have the promo clip for it.

It’s an awesome comeback for the guys, a brooding yet poppy tune full of the buzzsaw synths we love autoKratz for. The track is taken from their forthcoming second (or third depending on how you view their releases) album ‘Self Help for Beginners’, due for release in March 2011.

London ElectroPop/Electro-House noise mongers autoKratz are gearing up to release their second album in 2010, in the meantime they are presenting a brand new EP, titled ‘Kick’, and giving it away for free form their official website.

Containing two new tracks and three reMixes, one of the new tracks, ‘Skin Machine’ we’ve heard before, but the title tack is a brand new beast. And a beast it is too! Hard beats, heard synths, noisy guitars…I love the way autoKratz can take the most chaotic of elements and make them into a cohesive song.
