Radio INK

Radio INK are an in-your-face ElectroPop act from Sydney, Australia, who are pretty well known on their home turf but defiantly need some worldwide exposure.

The trio are about to release their third single, ‘Physical’, which is produced by hyper-talented Diamond Cut (who reMixed their last two singles) and features reMixes by the cream of down under talent. The awesome Muffin, who has been far too quiet of late, brings his massive sounding Nu-Disco flavour to the track with some massive pads and killer bass. G.L.O.V.E.S. drops more of a late night Disco vibe. Injecting the sexy to Muffin’s euphoria. Moonchild round off the package with their Filter-House  workout. All three mixes keep much of the song itself intact making for thee awesome ElectroPop tracks. This single is recommended!

Monarchy reMix Kylie Minogue

It was only yesterday that it was announced that the ElectroPop mystery men Monarchy would be reMixing Kylie Minogue’s next single, ‘Better Than Love’ and already we have the reMix so you lot can listen to it!

In true Monarchy style, the London Cosmic SynthPoppers have taking Kylie into space. If Kylie’s music is the sound of a Disco down on Earth, then Monarchy create the soundtrack to the Disco in the orbiting space station. Floating, zero-G, synths wash over Miss Minogue’s dreamlike vocals all held together by the their machine beats. With a pulsing bassline acting as the heartbeat of the tune this is one of the most innovative Disco or ElectroPop reMixes that I have heard in a while. Or maybe I’m just reading too much into it? It’s pretty rad either way!

This is the track that should make first contact!

‘Better Than Today’ will be released on December 6.

Alpha Boy

Berlin’s Alpha Boy is one of the coolest producers I have come across in recent months.

This 25 year old Xibalba first dipped his 80’s inspired toe in the waters of electronic music making when he received a PlayStation 1 and Music 2000 for X-mas, the rest is a history that is still being written. Falling in, mostly with the Dreamwave crowd, Alpha Boy is even more 80’s influenced, citing the likes of Harold Faltermeyer as an influence. These influences drive him to create danceable, yet strongly emotive, retro synth music.

He’s just releasing a new EP, ‘The Return Of 1986’, which perfectly showcases his cinematic brand of Electro. Check out these two tracks. ‘Stardust’ is an deep, analog, spacesynth tune with an almost EBM-esq driving force layered with sweeping optimistic lead lines while ‘The Wraith 1986’ (presumably named for the awesome Movie featuring the even more awesome Sherilyn Fenn!) is an epic midnight drive of a tune with hints of ChipTune amongst the surging leads.

Lindbergh Palace get the Fear Of Tigers reMix treatment

Ben from Fear Of Tigers has been far too quite lately for my liking. Of everyone making massive, retro sounding, Dreamwavey, dance tracks Fear Of Tigers are among the cream of the crop so a new FoT reMix really makes you sit up and take notice!

We featured Lindbergh Palace a while back and were pretty impressed with the Brooklyn based band. The combination of Leah Hayes vocals and Ben’s music is something special indeed! The reMix has a long rhythmic build which really pays off when the track kicks in and shows a real maturing musicality to Ben’s work.

If we did ‘track of the day’, this would be it!

Lindbergh Palace’s début EP is out in December, until the go check them out on MySpace and pick up some of their reMixes:

Monsieur Adi reMixes The Knocks (again)

Woo-hoo! A New Monsieur Adi reMix! That’s always cause for celebration.

Once again The Knocks are the focus of the Italian super-reMixers skills on heir forthcoming single ‘Dancing With The DJ’. Adi layers the track with his particular brand of Disco. Boy does that man love his strings!?

Starsmith Vs. Starsmith

Followers of the UK’s top ElectroPop producer Starsmith on Twitter will remember him mentioning a reMix of his début single ‘Give Me A Break’ he had put together to play at the launch party for the 12”.

Well, he’s now gone and made it available to the public (that’s you lot), so here it is. It’s quite a cool edit, drops and builds in just the right places and an awesome solo line in the finale. I can imagine this went down a treat when he dropped it.

Human Life; Nightriders reMix

Here’s another track a couple of weeks old that I’m posting, just because.

All of LA’s favourite SynthPoppers Human Life’s latest single, ‘Wherever We Are’ is pretty awesome, the original and the well chosen reMixes make the whole package well worth your investigation. The Nightriders reMix is one of the highlights, a smooth Nu-Disco jam with an added deepness, this is a late night/early morning tune if ever I heard one. This mix is like your comedown from a night of hard Electro, when this is playing you’ve got no worries!

Pet Shop Boys…Grum…West End Girls…awesome!

Well, this is already vying for position as my favourite track of the year, it feels like I’ve been waiting all my life for this tune.

Nu-Disco über-producer Grum’s reMix of Pet Shop Boys’ ‘West End Girls’ features as B-side on the SynthPop duo’s new single ‘Together’ and, for me anyway, it’s an almost perfect meeting of everything I grew up with and everything I love now. I love the big analog bassline and the massive Dreamwave-esq pads and the fact that the song remains intact, but totally updated. This thing is one of the classics of the genre but sound fresh as fuck!

Pure, undiluted awesome!

Pet Shop Boys – West End Girls (Grum reMix)

I swear I can hear a Korg Monotron in there too!

Pet Shop Boys greatest hits, ‘Ultimate’, and the digital single of‘Together’ are out now with the physical release, featuring the Grum reMix, coming soon.

Ill Collins & Beaumont drop the bit-crushed science

Highly underrated Aussie Nu-Disco producer Beaumont has teamed up with Ill Collins, who has an awesome name to indulge in some bit-crushed madness.

An EP is forthcoming, but this tune ‘Drane’ is a little extra gift that won’t be appearing on it. If it’s an indicator of how the EP will sound then we are in for a pretty gritty, thumping, treat. Beaumont has always had a soft spot for 8-bit sounds in his music but here he really lets himself go crazy. ‘Drane’ is a mid-tempo grinder that manages to bring a little Cosmic Disco feel to the Lo-Fi doom.

Ill Collins & Beaumont – Drane

Beaumont’s EP team up with Ill Collins should be out soon

As a side note I know absolutely nothing about who Ill Collins is, but maybe it should be noted though that his SoundCloud profile pic comes from Beaumont’s MySpace album, Beaumont’s 8-bit alter-ego perhaps? Maybe not, maybe he is some Mexican SID freak? Just sayin’…

Barretso reMixes Gemini Club’s ‘Ghost’

We can’t seem to get enough of Gemini Club’s ‘Ghost’ right now. It’s such a sweet tune and the reMixes to date have been so good it’s hard to choose between them.

Enter Chilean electronic rumors staple Frankie Barretso, who has turned in a really cool, driving reMix. This is arpeggio fuelled powerhouse Disco with some euphoria inducing keys in the chorus. Still couldn’t choose my favourite reMix, but this one is defiantly at the top (probably a toss-up between this and Hey Champ!’s) .
