VanGuard Vs. Fred Falke

fred falke

The kings of Welsh Disco VanGuard drop a giant sized slab of funk with their reMix of Fred Falke’ Wait For Love’

‘Wait For Love’ is a track that had been knocking around, in one form or another, for a few years now and VanGuard give it that kick it needs to bring it to the dancefloors of 2011, in their hands the track, admittedly a French Touch classic, sounds bigger, stronger, and funkier.

Annex 82

annex 82

Annex 82 is the brainchild of Michigan based Electro producer Rob Salazar.

He’s just released his new EP, titled ‘Skylights’, and it’s five tracks of pure synth heaven. Taking the current SynthWave sound and giving it a slightly more grungy, more analog, feel Annex 82 come across with both the Italo groove of Dreamwave crossover tracks and the rockiness of the ballsier end of SynthPop. This instrumental collection kicks off with ‘Laserbeam’, which is  is everything a synth-head could want from a track, taking cues from everything from ElectroPop to Disco via Italo it really sets a precedent for the rest of the EP. Annex 82’s tracks flow with an unexpected kind of machine funk, there is a groove hiding amongst the relentless rapid-fire robo synths, and an emotion to the melodies. ‘Roadgames’ and ‘astrid eVe’ both lay the ‘80’s vibe on thick, with the former even getting a little Daft Punk about it. This is a very impressive EP from an unknown that leaves us eager to hear more.

Chris Malinchak’s ‘No Secrets’ video

The video for Chris Malinchak’s ‘No Secrets’, featuring Damon C. Scott, from his ‘Vilette’ EP is finally here.

The video is smooth, with a night time sheen. Pretty much the visual version of the track then!

Jules Schimmer – On The Train Mix =An awesome mix of ElectroPop and Nu-Disco from Mr. Schimmer that began life on a train journey home from London after a particularly heavy night out in Shoreditch and Dalston with some famous people, and me. Daft Punk reMixed by Moustache Machine

daft_punk

It’s got to be said, Moustache Machine never shy’s away from making brave choices when it comes to his selections of tracks to reMix. an reMixing Daft Punk certainly takes balls.

Luckily, MM has the chops to pull it off and delivers a funky as hell synthetic Disco tune that is respectful of the original and adds some of the smooth Moustache Machine French Touch to the mix. With nice work on the keys and production MM has nailed Nu-Disco again. Maybe it’s time we got some more original tunes?

Dizkopolis’ ‘Class Of ‘91’

Dizkopolis

Dizkopolis are a duo from Kuala Lumpur of all places. Proving that no matter where you are in the world there is some serious Nu-Disco/French Touch talent.

The guys new track, ‘Class Of ‘91’ mixes in a hint of ChipTune into their Electro groove. Underneath it all is a nigh-on perfect rolling Disco bassline that you’ll practically break your neck nodding along to, layered on top of that are piles of 8-bit melodies and big ‘80’s synth sounds. ‘Class Of ‘91’ is some solid, uplifting, Nu-Disco magic.

Kido Yoji

Kido Yoji

Kido Yoji, 21 years old and probably the most impressive thing to come out of Japan in a while.

Having had a few tracks and reMixes knocking around for the last couple of years, Kido is in a place now to release a full EP on an unsuspecting world. Walking a line where Nu-Disco, Synth Funk and ElectroPop meet Kido masters all three styles and makes it look effortless. The EP’s lead track ‘Call A Romance’ is a smooth meeting of Funk and Disco with a Poppy vocal that on first listen you’d swear came out of LA. Heavy on the electro toms (and you know we love electro toms!) and ‘80’s style synthesizer stabs ‘Call A Romance’ has a groove that’ll see it getting a lot of play. One of our favourite double acts, Walter Sobcek, prove a reMix that takes the track to the next level, probably the stand-out reMix on the EP, the Sobceks rework the track into a reverby, majestic, ElectroPop epic. Blue Satellite also raise the bar with their reMix of ‘More than Real’, a rich Disco track with enough Funk and Talkbox to give Chromeo a run for their money!
