Jordan F gets Sci-Fi

jordan f

Jordan F almost verging into EBM territory with his new track ‘Crime In The Forth Sector’.

The BladeRunner inspired, and heavily sampling, track is in stark contrast to Jordan’s usual ‘80’s aspirational party and nightdrive tunes, it’s a slice of Sci-Fi moodiness that could quite easily be the soundtrack to any number of ‘80’s post-BladeRunner straight-to-video flicks (I’m thinking Nemesis etc…) with it’s mid-paced industrial beats, EBM basslines and heavy retro chords. Imposing stuff!

G.L.O.V.E.S. reMixes Gold Fields

Gold Fields

G.L.O.V.E.S. is one of those producers we just never hear enough from, I swear every one of his productions has completely nailed it.

The same goes for his latest work, a reMix of, fellow Australian’s, the Indie band Gold Fields. Just check out that bassline, pure big Moog Disco Funk, laying down a solid backing for some really unique parts. G.L.O.V.E.S. stands out from the pack with a whole load of interesting riffs and sounds that play off each other in the mix, all of which perfects matches the tone of the song and the reMix effortlessly follows the vocals making them sound like the were always supposed to be together.

15. Mighty Mouse – Ice Beer
16. Digitalism – Circles (Moonlight Matters Re Dub)

Also today (busy day!) the MM has dropped a brand new track, ‘Ice Beer’, which is pretty epic at seven minutes but all of it is maxed out with Funk. Feeling like an instrumental spiritual successor to ‘Between The Pavement And The Stars’, ‘Ice Beer’ plays off the stabs of it’s predecessor but layers rich, emotive, piano and a driving groove. One of the first from MiGHty mOUse since the separation of band and production/DJ outfit, this bodes well for the future of MM.

Oliver features on Aeroplane’s ‘In Flight Entertainment’

Oliver

So, Vito Aeroplane’s eagerly awaited ‘In Flight Entertainment’ compilation is out, and it’s good, very good. Maybe not the game-changer that some are making it out to be, but if you drop your expectations what you have is fourteen solid Nu-Disco tracks to get you dancing.

After an Poolside and B-Xentric! open the album in awesome style it kinda’ drops the flow a little bit with a few meandering tunes but once Aeroplane’s own ‘Save Me Now’ kicks in it’s  pure gold until the end of the album. Kolombo, Riptide, Cosmonauts, James Curd and Moonlight Matters all totally nail it, but it Oliver’s contribution that, alongside ‘Save Me Now’ is the real standout of the compilation. ‘Memories Of The Future is a massive Jean Michel-Jarre meets Daft Punk epic which will fascinate and enthral both the Disco dancer and the synth head.

Cadillac’s self-titled EP out now

Cadillac

Australian Indie-Electro/DiscoPop/Chillwave trio Cadillac’s self-titled EP is out now on Future Classic.

The whole record just oozes summery good times. A Slick mash-up of Disco licks and Drums with Synth Funk bass and retro keys. Add a hint of Indie-Electro guitar and some of the coolest, evocative songs you’ve heard in a while and you’ve got a killer EP. This is ‘80’s aspirational stuff, beaches and the best that include both friends and a flecked suit jacket with the sleeves rolled up. Tesla Boy’s Anton Sevidov even makes an appearance at the party, you know you’re cool when that happens!

♫ Cadillac – Dreams

♫ Cadillac (Feat. Tesla Boy) – Make You Feel

Cadillac – High For Me

Cadillac’s self-titles EP is out now as a double 12” featuring reMixes from The Miracles Club, Prince Rama, Marcos Cabral, Ray Mang, Daniel Bortz and Sun Glitters, or as a split digital EP, originals and reMixes.

Little Boots – Shake Until Your Heart Breaks Mixtape = Boots is back! Well, not really, not yet, but let’s hope this mixtape is a precursor to her welcome return. The best thing about this 40 mins ElectroPop/Italo/DiscoPop odyssey, is that it includes a brand new Little Boots track, unsurprisingly titled ‘Shake Until Your Heart Breaks’, which proves that unlike her fellow electro-women-class-of-‘07 alumni, our Miss Hesketh hasn’t lost the synthesizer faith.
