Futurecop!’s ‘Starworshipper’ single

futurecop_03

I’ve got to say, for all my love for ’Futurecop!: The Movie’ I do prefer Futurecop! when they are doing what they do best, big retro ElectroPop, that’s why I love their Japan only album ‘It’s Forever, Kids’ and one of the best tracks on there was the Diana Gen featuring vocal version of ‘Starworhipper’, produced by none other than Diamond Cut.

Futurecop! must think so to as it;s getting a single release with an astounding reMix package. you probably know the original by now, infectious dancefloor ElectroPop with equal helpings of soul and nostalgia. A great single for the summer. The big excitement for me when seeing the reMix line up was the inclusion of the king of SynthWave Mitch Murder, and the man doesn’t disappoint. Mitch’s big, soundtrack influenced, ‘80’s sounds work perfectly with this track, and when the track kicks in with his trademark stratospheric soloing it’s pure gold. Lenno is another of out current favourites, when you want exciting, energy fuelled Nu-Disco, he’s your man and right here he delivers a tune suitable for the big room. Boombar man Jowie Schulner smoothes out the single with a slick laidback Dreamwave take on the song, giving the tune a sunrise vibe. Lastly it’s Out There who round off the EP with an Electro powerhouse of a track to end on a high. The single is a pretty essential purchase, how can a collection of talent like this go wrong?

More new music from Mitch Murder

Mitch Murder

After a period of quiet, once SynthWave maestro Mitch Murder released his awesome ‘Current events’ album, brand new tracks from the Sweedish producer are becoming a weekly occurrence!

That’s no bad thing though, his latest ‘Glass Cities’ is just the latest in amazing, atmospheric tracks. Quiet and reserved, with synths like raindrops, the intro to ‘Glass Cities’ creates the mood for the whole track. Spacious and mysterious, which a slightly oriental felling and when the beat and bassline kick in, you know something is going down in the metropolis. I don’t really need to reiterate that Mitch Murder is pretty much the king of retro synthesizer soundtrack-esque tunes, but now you know what to expect, but the cinematic bassline and the hints of Jarre’s ‘Zoolook’ are particular highlights of this one.

Mitch Murder’s ‘Best Of The Best’

mitch-murder1

The reigning heavyweight champion of SynthWave, Mitch Murder, is back with another new track. Where the man finds the time, I have no idea.

‘Best Of The Best’ is his latest. What can I say about Mitch Murder that I haven’t said before? The man really is the shit, both in terms of production and musical ability, and this tune is no exception with it’s  big emotional retro synth chords and ‘80’s Pop drums, but that’s now where the gold in this tune is. The real hairs-standing-up-on-the-back-of-your-neck aspect to ‘Best Of The Best’ is the soloing. Mitch let’s rip on this track. Soaring to the stratosphere, with Malmsteen moments, Mr. Murder shreds his synths and sounds like he’s having real fun with it too. We love a good synth solo here and Mitch’s rally are ‘Best Of The Best’

Two new cuts from Mitch Murder

Mitch Murder

Mitch Murder, one of our favourite producers, whether SynthWave or not, has dropped a couple of new tracks on SoundCloud. Followers of Mr. murder on YouTube will probably already recognise these tunes but I’m glad he’s making his archive available on SC, much nicer for just listening to music.

First up is ‘Metro City Breakers’, a soundtrack to what goes on on the streets of Metro City when Cody & guy aren’t tearing it a new one. it’s the ultimate ‘80’s homage jam, to the point the when Mitch has exhausted his own intricate synth riffs he busts into some Herbie Hancock and Knight Rider. This track is spot-on Electro-Funk to make envy the most hardened B-Boy happy, it’s also the soundtrack to the bit in a poorly judged ‘80’s move where our wholesome heroes encounter a ‘street gang’. Mr. T’s Fashion Show has long been considered something of an ‘80’spop-culture anomaly (like a lot of things Mr. T did), but it has also always sounded good, and makes for perfect fun cover material. More than anything, these two tracks show how much Mr. Murder loves doing what he does, and we love him for it.

Mitch Murder’s ‘Heading South’

mitch murder

Mitch Murder is just on a roll, ever since the release of his ‘Current Event’s album (number two in our best albums of 2011!) he’s been delivering awesome new track after track, and basically taking the whole retro synth scene to school (which, I imagine, would be kinda’ like the detention in The Breakfast Club).

This week’s fresh cut is ‘Heading South’, which sees old Mitch going right to his outrun core. A SynthWave narrative of a race to the boarder, but Mr. Murder opts for a laid back groove to get him there. The synths shimmer, the beat drive, the tale is told. Right now you can’t expect a finer SynthWave track than one of Mitch Murder’s productions, you know what to expect, he constantly impresses with both his production and his musical talent. This is the soundtrack to our Saturday.

Mitch Murder X Nite Sprite

Mitch Murder

Ever since Sweedish SynthWave genius Mitch Murder dropped his album, ’Current Events’ late last year we’ve seen a resurgence in activity from him, releasing killer tune after killer tune. The latest from this prolific period is this reMix of ‘In The News’ from Nite Sprite.

Nite Sprite are a Norway based duo who craft some of the slickest retro Funk you’re likely to hear for a while, and with this mix they step up their game to serious levels. Everything about this mix, of one of the highlights of ‘Current Events’, is a pitch perfect meeting of SynthWave and Nu-Funk. From the SynthWave side of it’s DNA it bring a retro epicness worthy the best in ‘80’s Sc-Fi TV themes, combining lush, evocative chords and playful little melodies. Adding to that is it’s funky side, with a pure dancefloor groove and twisting Disco leads. Nite Sprite have given us a great way to start the week. Can;t wait for more from them.

Mitch Murder reMixes Lazerhawk

Lazerhawk

Oooo, this is exciting stuff. SynthWave guru Lazerhawk is gearing up for the release of his ‘Arrival’ EP, the Jordan F reMix has been rocking our worlds for a while now but we finally get to get our ears round Mitch Murder’s take on the track.

We’re still reeling from Mitch’s new album ‘Current Events’ (which just missed the top spot in our top albums of 2011) so we know the man is on top for right now, but once again he blows us away with this soaring slice of pure synthesizer joy. Unlike some electronic music producers who sit in front of Abelton firing off arpeggios, Mitch is a true musician. His mastery of layering and melody and his ability to capture an emotional mood in a synth dance track is second to none. This is what it sounds like in my brain all the time. Vangelis would be proud.

Lazerhawk’s new EP is out soon also featuring reMixes from Miami Nights 1984 and Jordan F.

A new old track from Mitch Murder

mitch murder

An old track with a new twist now from Mitch Murder.

He must be riding high on the success of his new album, ‘Current Events’, (and well deserved too) ‘cos he’s given fans an early X-Mas present in the form of a remastered version of the opening track from his 2009 EP ‘After Hours’, ‘After Hours Run’. You probably know the track by now, pure Murder, epic dancefloor soundtrack SynthWave with that Mitch Murder quality of being able to speak to you, emotionally. With this new remaster the tune is founding fresher than ever.

Something extra from Mitch Murder

mitch-murder

I’m going to presume you have already bought Mitch Murder’s new album, ‘Current Events’, one of the albums of the year? If not, you should. if you have, here is something a little extra from the man.

‘Last Call’ is pure ‘80’s soulful ElectroPop. Deep sounds and the hint of synthesised electric guitar just bring to mind Jan Hammer’s moodier Miami Vice moments. With a bass sound that reminds me of Trevor Jones’ ‘Labyrinth’ soundtrack, the Florida licks and some sax moods coming into the finale there are so many movie moments I can see this track working in. From the hero brooding in the calm before the storm to the spotlight prom dance in a teen flick, this tune has just the right vibe.

Mitch Murder’s new album

Mitch Murder

If you are at all into Dreamwave, or SynthWave, or Outrun Electro, or, well, y’know what I mean, you’ll already be in love with the music of Mr. Mitch Murder.

One of the originators of the scene, Murder is back this month with his second full length album ‘Current Events’ and it’s a masterpiece. It may have come late in the year, but this eagerly anticipated record is easily vying to our album of the year. From the intro, ‘Looking Back’, this album is everything you could want as a fan of retro synthesizer music. The first track proper, ‘Frantic Aerobics’, sets the tone for the album, DancePop beats, Italo basslines, emotive chords and some seriously cosmic solos. All delivered with a sense of drama. The album plays like to soundtrack to the best straight-to-video ‘80’s Sci-Fi action flick that was never made. There are dark moods where are hero muses on his losses so far, inspirational pieces fit for a training montage, action set-pieces, chase senses and triumphant aftermaths, all played out of classic synth sounds with a slight Disco groove. The story of ‘Current Events’, though, is an document of ‘80’s popular consciousness, from technological progress to fear of nuclear war. I wish Mitch Murder would soundtrack my life!
