[Audio] Tesla Boy’s ‘Undetected’ reMixes

tesla boy

As teased in our interview with Anton earlier this month Tesla Boy’s new single from their amazing The Universe Made Of Darkness album is Undetected. The slow-mo snyth funk track also gets three slick reimaginings in the single package, reMixes coming from the likes of Shur-I-Kan, Lipelis and Pioneerball.

Our picks from the single would have to be London producer Shur-I-kan’s funky take on Undetected. Upping the tempo and adding a little energy to the track Shur-I-Kan drags it straight to the dancefloor. Thick synth bass and a flowing Disco groove power this track along, taking Anton’s smooth vocals long for the ride. Also Pioneerball reMix The Universe Made Of Darkness’ ode to the early 90s 1991. Choosing to ignore the track theme, Pioneerball instead conjure up a pitch perfect late 70s Funk take on the track. The whole reMix collection is a nice compliment to the album, check it out.

[Audio] Chela’s ‘Romanticise’

chela

So, we introduced you to Australian vocalist of the moment Chela’s new single Romanticise a couple of weeks ago, you can read all about Chela and the single in that article. Without wanting to repeated ourselves, and we’ve gushed about Chela a few times in the past year or so, let’s just have a listen to the original version of Romanticise before it;s due release next week.

Chela got one of those voices that is not only pretty powerful, but full of character too. And that’s our favourite quality in vocals, character. Chela’s vocals ride a slinky summer groove of nostalgic keys, Disco funk and plucked beach guitars. Romanticise is just a carefree, feel-good, accompaniment to these final warm days of they year, and one that will help us see the summer out in style.

Chela’s Romanticise is released 26th August.

[MP3] Arches’ ‘It’s Okay’

Arches

This is Arches. Arches is a superhero team-up between Seba Vandevoorde A.K.A. Moonlight Matters and Jochen from Sound Of Stereo, which is like a Belgian dream-team. Their début single, Take Me, was débuted on The Magician’s most recent Magic Tape along with another new track, Hurtin’, but this here tune, It’s Okay, is the first from Arches that us general public can get our grubby mitts on.

Taking Whitney Huston’s Not Right But It’s Okay as it’s core, Arches deliver a radical reworking with cut-up, pitched down vocals over a heavy House groove. A gritty bassline, that may owe it’s DNA to Belgium’s New Beat heritage hammers away over a rock solid House beat. With drops and builds in just the right places, for just the right amount of time, this, particularly European, slice of House portends great things from this new collaboration. A slick late-night jam.

Arches – It’s Okay

Arches début single, Take Me, is due out in November.

[Audio] Two Door Cinema Club’s Madeon produced ‘Changing Of The Seasons’

Two Door Cinema Club

French wunderkind Madeon’s career is just going from strength to strength, and now it seems he’s an in-demand producer. The start of his production career (and we’re using the word ‘producer’ in it’s traditional sense here) sees Madeon behind the mixing desk for Kitsuné IndiePoppers Two Door Cinema Club as he busts out their forthcoming new single Changing Of The Seasons.

The result is weirdly, or aptly depending on what you expect, like Two Door Cinema jamming with Madeon, which, we guess, makes sense. Two Door’s trademark cheery guitar is still present, as is Alex Trimble’s lilting and whimsical vocals, but in this case they are paired with Madeon big-room lead sounds and sidechained riffs along with a tight Disco beat. You’d have though that this would have been a bit of a mess, the guitars and synths clashing, but they really don’t, if fact they end up being perfectly complementary and that’s got to be testament to Madeon’s skills.

[Audio] Plastic Plates reMixes The Aston Shuffle’s ‘Can’t Stop Now’

The Aston Shuffle

The amazing Plastic Plates is on a roll. After a couple of months of silences Felix Bloxsom is following up on the première of his new single with another new tune a mere three days later. His new offering comes in the form of this reMix for Australian ElectroPop duo The Aston Shuffle and their forthcoming new single Can’t Stop Now.

The original version of the track is pretty full-on, commercial, big room Electro, which Plastic Plates turns into something a little deeper and groovier. Serving up a heaped plate of synthetic Disco, Felix brings together an Italo bassline, a House beat and popping arpeggios in a tasty Nu-Disco sauce culminating in a laid back, but effortlessly body moving tune that uses the vocals of the original in anthemic ways. The single also hold mixes from Special Features and Matisse & Sadko and one we are particularly interested in from the one and only Lenno.

[Audio] Donna Summer reMixed by Chromeo & Oliver and Giorgio Moroder

donna-summer

Love To Love You Donna is the title of a forthcoming reMix album that pays tribute to Disco diva legend Donna Summer. Release in October, the album holds twelve tracks that place Summers instantly recognisable vocals in the hands of the likes of Hot Chip, Frankie Knuckles and Eric Kupper, along side these two gems from a team-up between Chromeo & Oliver and Summer’s long-time production partner, and legend in his own right, Giorgio Moroder.

Chromeo & Oliver seems like a Synth Funk match made in heaven and their reMix of Love Is In Control (Finger On The Trigger) really delivers the goods. Serving up a heady rush of murderous synth bass and big warping chords that is so perfectly paired with Summer’s big 80s vocals that you’d swear it was always supposed to sound like this. Add in a little of Chromeo’s talk-box warbling and you have a massive DiscoPop hit for the summer. this track draws on such a pool of talent coming together that is was destined to be nothing short of amazing. In what seems like a fitting choice, Giorgio Moroder has turned in a reMix of a track he originally co-wrote, the classic Love To Love You Baby. The Disco and Italo god recent played the track out during a DJ set at the Way Out West in Gothenburg, Sweden (after completing it on the plane over) so we can get a taste of how the track will sound. It sounds like we’re in for a full-on sounding Moroder tune with a seriously Italo groove. the album is shaping up to be a definite purchase.

Xylos

Master of the LA Robo-Boogie Touch Tone is back with a brand new track in the form of this slick reMix. The subject of Touch Tone’s machinations this time is Brooklyn based bombastic Indie-ElectroPoppers Xylos and their breezy tune Summerlong.

Eschewing the raucous synths and wall-of-sound guitars of the original for something a little more poolside, Touch Tone whips up a pulsating summery Disco House tune to bounce you into the weekend. Folding in a little Tropical shimmy, a little Chicago warehouse vibe in the bassline department and a jump-up piano hook that straddles the line between House and Indie Touch Tone serves up an infectious daytime jam that you can’t help but move to. So just keep moving, you know you want to.
