Futurecop! The Movie

Futurecop!

Futurecop! said they had something pretty special in the pipeline, and they weren’t kidding.

This coming January the duo, one of the UK’s finest ElectroPop acts, teams up with the Keiz Beats label to release the soundtrack to the movie in their heads. Unfortunately the actual movie doesn’t exist, but the soundtrack will more that keep us happy. This will be Futurecop!’s first worldwide album release (2010’s amazing ‘It’s Forever, Kids’ was a Japan only release) and sees the guys bring a more epic take to some of their tunes. A mixture of uplifted versions of tracks you know & love and brand new tunes the album promises to be the Futurecop! record we’ve all been waiting for. check out the robo-Disco Funk of ‘Northern Lights’ and a new, soaring, version of ‘Transformers’ for a taste of what’s to come, and check out our Google+ post to see the trailer for ‘Futurecop! The Movie’.

Jensen Sportag reMixes Madi Diaz

madidiaz

Jensen Sportag have served up a sweet X-Mas gift in the form of a deep DiscoPop reMix of Nashville singer/songwriter duo Madi Diaz’s ‘Trust Fall’.

Jensen Sportag’s reMix is so smooth it is borderline Yacht. Layering some nice thick Moog Funk for the bass with some serious maritime chord work and wicked Disco licks seems to morph the track into a classy mid-‘80’s yuppie dancefloor number. This is a track for smokey city nights or sunsets on deck. I’ll take either really, it’s fine.

Follow Me

follow me

You may remember the mysterious Follow Me from our round up of the best entries in Fear Of Tigers ‘Pippi Longstrump’ reMix competition.

Continuing to impress us they have just dropped a new track, ‘Fight Or Flight’, and it just shows why they are definitely one to watch in 2012. ‘Fight Or Flight’ is a slick as anything slick of SynthWave with a Sci-Fi sheen. The layers of intricate melodies weaving in and out of each other make the track seem full and rich and like there’s always some kind of synthesizer wizardry going on. Combine that with a solid ‘80’s bassline and you have the recipe for perfect retro synth awesomeness.

A new old track from Mitch Murder

mitch murder

An old track with a new twist now from Mitch Murder.

He must be riding high on the success of his new album, ‘Current Events’, (and well deserved too) ‘cos he’s given fans an early X-Mas present in the form of a remastered version of the opening track from his 2009 EP ‘After Hours’, ‘After Hours Run’. You probably know the track by now, pure Murder, epic dancefloor soundtrack SynthWave with that Mitch Murder quality of being able to speak to you, emotionally. With this new remaster the tune is founding fresher than ever.

Popular Computer’s new single

Popular Computer

Out this week is Popular Computer new record, ‘Lointain’.

We’ve been waiting for the release for a while now and it’s a stormer. Parisian Sylvain Dalido get’s into a synthetic Disco state of mind with a laid back electronic sound packed with vintage synths and Disco licks. On the reMix is a whole bunch of our favourite producers. Australian Dreamwave master Muffin, who has been away far too long, drops a delicious retro beach party of a tune, mixing up the Disco and the ‘80’s, which just highlight why we need to hear more from this man. Pharao Black Magic get their analog Disco groove on with a deep bass driven slice of slo-mo electronic Funk. Robotaki’s contribution is a wonderful mix of everything good in Nu-Disco and SynthWave with a strong Moog Funk rhythm section, twisting lead lines and shimmering retro chords fit of a perfect sunset.

Something extra from Mitch Murder

mitch-murder

I’m going to presume you have already bought Mitch Murder’s new album, ‘Current Events’, one of the albums of the year? If not, you should. if you have, here is something a little extra from the man.

‘Last Call’ is pure ‘80’s soulful ElectroPop. Deep sounds and the hint of synthesised electric guitar just bring to mind Jan Hammer’s moodier Miami Vice moments. With a bass sound that reminds me of Trevor Jones’ ‘Labyrinth’ soundtrack, the Florida licks and some sax moods coming into the finale there are so many movie moments I can see this track working in. From the hero brooding in the calm before the storm to the spotlight prom dance in a teen flick, this tune has just the right vibe.

Miami Nights 1984 reMixes Gotye

gotye

One of our favourite SynthWave geniuses Miami Nights 1984, has dropped an awesome smooth mix of Gotye and Kimbra’s ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’.

Mike Glover A.K.A. MN84 makes the track sounds like proper ‘80’s ElectroPop hit. After a pretty special radio tuning intro. MN84 turns the song into a slow building drive of bouncy FM basslines and lush synth chords. Giving the track that slightly distant retro feel and working the big cinematic synths to great effect, Miami Nights 1984 brings together a top ElectroPop tune here.

Oliver’s ‘Footsteps’

oliver

The two Olivers in one, Oliver,  are back with another slice of Dreamwave awesomeness.

‘Footsteps’ is solid as a rock with a slow build to floaty, light, vibe underpinned with a machine groove. With a slow pulsating lead hook that draws you in and spits you out over and over again, the two Oliver’s have dropped yet another six minutes of Nu-Disco gold. Separately they (U-Tern & Oligee) are world class producers, together they are unstoppable.

Cut Slack

cut slack

Cut Slack recently featured highly in out round up of the best entries in Fear Of Tigers ‘Pippi Longstrump’ reMix competition.

Now the Portuguese producer is back with an original track, ‘Get A grip’ and it shows that, unlike many of his peers, he doesn’t need stems to fall back on, this guy has the chops. Perfect summer night vibes emanate from every inch of this tune from the slick running bass, snatched samples and big retro chords. Remember the name Cut Slack, we think you’ll be hearing a lot from this Dude.

Cut Slack – Get A Grip

Cut Slack should be dropping an EP in early 2012.
