[MP3] Lifelike reMixes Futurecop!

futurecop_thumb

A couple of weeks ago we gave you the skinny on Futurecop!’s new single, Atlantis 1997, mentioning that there was a remix on the single from French Touch pioneer Lifelike. Well now, as the single draws ever closer to it’s late March release, we can give you a listen to that very reMix. Its downloadable too!

Atlantis 1997 is a carefree Dreamwave track in which Ricco Vitali from Cavaliers Of Fun delivers a anthemic, summery vocal. Lifelike uses this vocal to it’s fullest over a big filtered Disco backing. Concentrating on the songs chorus, and adding a few chop-up into the mix, Lifelike delivers punchy bass, smooth keys and slick sheen that can only come from being a master of your art. This mix swirls around your ears like euphoric smoke, drawing you into it’s groove.

Futurecop!’s Atlantis 1997 is released 23rd March with reMixes from Lifelike, P.A.F.F, Kill Them With Colour and Uppermost.

[MP3] Let Em Riot’s ‘I Know’

Let Em Riot

We have a treat for you to kick off the week. A new freebie from Californian retro SynthPop artist Let Em Riot. Riding high on the success of his SlashWave EP (released via electronic rumors) Let Em Riot presents I Know, his latest masterpiece, for the incredibly cheap price of an email address.

I Know is just the kind of top quality trip you’d expect from this guy. Nostalgic, without being trite. Catchy without being reparative. Beautiful without being, er, not-beautiful. I Know breezes out of your speakers and when, after the tension building verse, the track launches into it’s sweeping, epic, chorus you can’t help but be hooked. It’s difficult for us to big up one of out own artists, but Alan Oakes really is one of the best songwriters in electronic music right now, hell that’s why we signed him, and I Know is just further proof of this. If you haven’t experienced Let Em Riot yet, here’s your gateway.

[Audio] Forgotten Illusions’ ‘Crystal Contour’ EP

Forgotten Illusions

There is, apparently, a new EP from Dreamwave pioneers and Valerie O.G.s The Outrunners on the way. In the mean time check out this amazing four track EP from Forgotten Illusions. Forgotten Illusions is the new side project from PDLT, on half of The Outrunners, and on the Crystal Contour EP he puts even last drop of his SynthWave credentials to the best use.

The Crystal Contour EP was released as the third volume in Valerie’s Composer Series and it’s four tracks make up some of the best SynthWave we’ve heard in a while. The EP’s title track is a masterclass in emotional Italo. Driving synthetic basslines and powerful retro chords build the tracks core, creating the prefect canvas for some galactic synth sweeps and truly rousing melodies and leads. Twelve, our other favourite of the four, is another example of pure brilliance in the felids of Italo and Dreamwave. The mixture of relentless arpeggiated basslines and beautiful electronic melodies is pitch perfect here. It’s a track that’s equally haunting and groovy, which is all you can ask for really. Forgotten Illusions début EP sees the return of a major talent to the genre, we suggest you pick up all four tracks right now.

[MP3] Jupiter reMixed by Mr. Gonzo

Jupiter

French Nu-Disco producer Mr. Gonzo is on a roll right now. Hot on the heels of his storming new single with Romuald, Gon Be A Thrill, his is the first reMix to break cover from the long rumoured Jupiter reMix album. The amazing Parisian ElectroPop duo have roped in a star studded cast to rework their Juicy Lucy album of last year. Mr. gonzo will be rubbing shoulder with the likes of Little Boots, Yan Wagner, Para One & Tacteel, JBAG, Juveniles, The Supermen Lovers, Steve Moore, Marius, and Colour Vision, which is quite scary company. Let’s see how he does.

Elliot Uppercut, one of the standouts on a stand out album, is the track Gonzo gets to grips with and fully delivers on smooth and sexy French Touch Disco. Despite being quite high energy, Mr. Gonzo manages to keep things on a laid back tip using lush synths and a sliding Disco bassline to their fullest. Amélie’s vocals sound as sweet as ever as the glide over. The synths in this reMix are so think, they melt into the track like chocolate, creating this delicious Disco ooze. This is a track mirrorballs were invented for. It’s so brilliant it’s like an audio lens-flare

[Audio] Adeyhawke’s ‘Storm Runner’

Adeyhawke

It’s been a while, but Irish SynthWave/Dreamwave/Nu-Disco dude Adeyhawke is back and fighting fit. As the producer jumps back into our consciousness he hits the ground running with his latest tune, Storm Runner. It’s a huge tune, and exciting tune, a tune that definitely makes us remember what we’ve been missing. And, hopefully, a tune that signals a resurgence of Adeyhawke activity.

Storm Runner is a beast of many faces. Blending the epic quality of SynthWave, the groove of Nu-Disco and the infectious hook of Indie-Electro, Adeyhawke serves up a smörgåsbord of gritty powerful hooks and sparking synth riffs. It’s got a cool retro feel, especially in some of the soaring solos, but a very contemporary production style, bringing all these emotionally resonant electronic music styles into the big room for thousand-yard-stare dance-off. We really can’t stop listening to this one.

[Audio] Classixx’s ‘Borderline’

Classixx

Now that we’ve gotten used to the fact that awesome LA Disco duo Classixx are well and truly back, we are ready for some now music. And here it is. Borderline is the B-side to their new single, Holding On, and is just a spot-on little treat to keep us going until Classixx’s album release, just days away now. As an added bonus, Borderline features the vocal stylings of fellow LA resident Jesse Kivel from ElectroPop outfit Kisses (who’s own forthoming, Cascine released, album is awesome BTW).

Borderline is the swirling, dreamlike, antidote to Holding On’s storming Disco credentials. The prefect chillout track, a largely beatless groove is based a pulsating arpeggio complimented by lightly struck snyths and percussion drifting, ghostly, in and out of the tune. Mostly centred around the rhythmic bass and Kivel’s heartfelt vocal, the track manages to be both infectiously catchy and completely relaxing. We’re really looking forward to the album, I think it’s going to surprise a lot of people.

[MP3] Xtrafunk’s ‘Seek.’

Xtrafunk

Sit back, put your feet up, relax, grab a JD & Coke, there’s a new tune from Germany’s king of the laid back, smooth grooves Xtrafunk. Every time, Xtrafunk delivers the finest dreamy chilled vibes and his new one, Seek. is no exception, so prepare to melt into your speakers. Right now a Siberian wind has hit the UK (like, actually a cold front from Siberia), so we’ve been hit with snow and ice, but this is exactly the tune to warm us up and make us think of sunnier days.

Seek. slowly build’s itself throughout it’s five minute run. Starting you off gradually with a lazy Funk bassline and some mellow electric piano before starting to bring the Disco with a sparkling lead line and vocal snatches. Layers of Cosmic snyths are piled on until the track breaks into a sweet vintage string riff, albeit with odd timing, to usher the song to it’s finale. Grab your shades from the back of the wardrobe (unless you live in a country that has actual nice weather this time of year, or are a poser) and get this on.
