[Audio] Monsieur Adi reMixes Say Lou Lou

Say Lou Lou

We’ve been looking forward to this one. We twigged a few weeks ago that the amazing Monsieur Adi was reMixing the new single from Australian/Swedish sisters Say Lou Lou new single Julian. It’s a deep, emotional song, just the kind of thing that we imagined Adi could really get his teeth into, and he did, and here it is.

It’s actually quite old school Adi. A warm Dreamwavey Nu-Disco track, loaded with ElectroPop affectations. A big French Touch floorfiller, Adi plays with the mood of the track perfectly, giving it a dancey boost without loosing and if the tune’s inherent romanticism. Pulsing synthetic bass, effecting stabs and big airy pads mingle together and wisp around the vocals like smoke. Adi the producer of the moment, and in high demand, and this reMix shows just why. This is how you reMix for the dancefloor and stay classy.

[Audio] The Knocks & St. Lucia

The Knocks

We’ve been looking forward to hearing this one ever since we first heard rumbles that New York Disco duo The Knocks were doing a track with one of our favourite ElectroPop artists St. Lucia. The result, The Knocks new single, Modern Hearts, is released later this month. Which, after a few listens is far too long to wait, it’s one of the jump-up DiscoPop tracks of the year.

Modern Hearts is a track that give you a rush. Combining the best of summery Disco sounds with a superbly written Pop anthem. A stomping beat pins the track down, giving free rein to thick synth stabs and playful arpeggios to ride a rolling bassline. Alongside St. Lucia’s soaring vocal, it all makes up one of those tracks that just makes you smile, you can’t help it, which is what makes it the perfect track for drinking and dancing in the sun. This one’s being added to our festival season playlist.

[MP3] New track from Nude Disco

nude-disco_thumb

Here we have a brand new slice of smooth synth Disco from London’s Nude Disco. Apparently this is taken from a forthcoming Nude Disco records sampler. Apparently there’s a Nude Disco Records now, and apparently this is from a samples they are putting out. Looks line Vern is holed up in South London creating a media Empire with the awesome Nude Disco clubnight, the music and now a label. Disco things are happening.

Anyhoo, global Disco dominance aside, this latest tune is a blissfully chilled excursion on thick synths and wicked licks. Weaving a little SynthWave and a little squelchy LA Funk into the track, Vern serves up a plethora of summertime sounds. With everyone making such soulful summer jams these days, we seem to be stockpiling some serious sunshine tunes of mass destruction, to be used the minute the sun comes out for more that two hours.

[MP3] Kisses reMix The Embassy

The Embassy

Here’s a nice little, summery, reMix that LA SynthPop duo Kisses have done. the target of their laid back noodlings is Swedish Indie outfit The Embassy. Their recent single Everything I Ever Wanted is pure Folky Indie, but Kisses save the day  by injecting the track with some buzzy synths and B-Boy Beats.

It’s the bests and the vocals that sine in this mix. That’s early 80s drum machine beat give the song a whole new spin. Whilst there’s still a smattering of the originals guitar in this reMix, it’s nicely counterpointed by with warm synths and electric piano. The vocal becomes a smooth, almost Chillwavey, summery haze when balanced with Kisses chilled, Venice Beach, SynthPop. Morphing a twee Indie tune into a laid back summer crusin’ track, Kisses have worked their magic once again.

The Embassy – Everything I Ever Wanted (Kisses reMix)

Everything I Ever Wanted is taken from The Embassy’s album, Sweet Sensation, out now.

[Audio] Fear Of Tigers’ ‘Golden Age’

Stop the press! Fear Of Tigers is back! It’s been far too long since we’ve had a whole new Fear Of Tigers track. Undoubtedly one of the best producers in the UK right now, the wait for Fear Of Tiger’s sophomore album as been next to agonising. Originally due out in June last year (the last we heard from FoT was May 2012) the album, Hypnerotomachia Poliphiliout, always seems tantalisingly close, but so far away.

But today we can, at least, get a feel for the forthcoming record with this brand new track. Listed on SoundCloud as a ‘work in progress’, Golden Age, delivers the goods in that euphoric, emotional ,big room way only Fear Of Tigers can. Showing a more driving, dare we say it aggressive, side to Fear Of Tigers, Golden Age is pedal-to-the-metal Electro Disco juggernaut. The track mixes up a little Cut-Up Disco, a little Piano House, a little French Electro and always keeps the energy levels high. All this is, of course, wrapped up in Fear Of Tigers big emotional chord progressions, making this one to give you goosebumbs on the dancefloor. Grins all round!

[MP3] Maethelvin’s ‘As We Were’

Maethelvin

One of the original pioneers of the Dreamwave and SynthWave sound, French producer Maethelvin has suddenly jumped back onto our radar with a brand new track. The old school Valerie member has returned out of nowhere with As We Were, a track that takes us back to the heydays of the Valerie/Dreamwave scene.

Lush space age synths wash this track. As We Were is a glorious slick of electronic nostalgia. With a subtly funky bassline to underpin proceedings, As We Were treats you to classy chords and pin sharp leads conjuring moods of days gone by. Not just reminiscent of 2007’s SynthWave explosion, but laid back 80s movie soundtrack work and Sci-fi Disco. We’re hoping this is the start of s resurgence of activity from Maethelvin, we’d love to hear of an album on the horizon.
