[Download] Mereki’s ‘Blue Lake’ reMixed by Wmnstudies

Mereki

We thought we’d gotten all we possibly could out of LA ElectroPopper Mereki’s Blue Lake; but it’s the song that keeps on giving. This latest reMix comes courtesy of Canadian duo Wmnstudies. We have no idea how they perceive you are supposed to pronounce that (and, frankly, the dropping vowels thing, if there are vowels dropped, is so unoriginal now), but we do know they have done a sterling job, delivering an undulating, soothing, House rework of the track and another awesome addition to their rapidly expanding impressive catalogue.

With just a hint of Topical purcussion, Wmnstudies wrap Mereki’s enchanting voice around a selection of rounded beats, warm keys and playful use of the vocals. Smoothing the song out, the duo intertwine the bass and drums into one juggernaut rhythm section that is compelling and utterly hard to resist. Fast becoming out favourite reMix of Blue Lake, Wmnstudies’ version of the track serves up just the right amount of bouncy House action, just enough to make you look forward to summer; not so much you don’t want to be in the now.

[Audio] Duke Dumont reMixes Tensnake, Nile Rodgers and Fiora’s ‘Love Sublime’

tensnake

German House producer Tensnake’s Love Sublime dropped late last year. The symphonic Disco track was the first taste we had of what to expect from the mans début album, Glow, which is set for a March release. Not content with letting the track lie, some tasty reMixes are on the way, first up being this warehouse monster from one of the UK’s current darlings Duke Dumont.

The Duke keeps things purely House based with this growling rework. That bassline is just dominating; warping it’s way though the track, giving it a dark edge that contrasts nicely with the big vocals and lush piano line. Big beats, deep bass, and a relentless groove, what more do you need form a late night floorfiller? The sparking synths are just the icing on the cake. A storming reMix.

[Audio] She’s The Queen reMixes Lightwaves’ ‘Returned’

Lightwaves

Last week the mighty Lightwaves continued their sweeping comeback with the new single Returned. This week Jan and crew add the icing on the cake with a stellar reMix from our very own She’s The Queen. I doubt at this point there’s any point in us even pretending there’s no bias here, in our opinion She’s The Queen are two of the most talented people on the planet, card carrying members of the electronic rumors family, and a couple of the nicest people you will ever meet. So, for the next paragraph, pretend it’s being written by someone who doesn’t love them. Y’know, like a critic or something.

This reMix is super awesome! If you ever managed to find the end of a rainbow you’d discover a pot of this reMix! Seriously though, Drew amps the energy with masterful Pop beats and big, shiver inducing, synths. With just a pinch of nostalgia, this immensely slick slice of ElectroPop is guaranteed to worm it;s way into your heart. What we’re saying is it’s pretty fucking good; but then, we’re bound to say that aren’t we, so just listen.

[Audio] Monsieur Adi reMixes Zendaya’s ‘Replay’

Zendaya

Zendaya is apparently some kind of Disney-esque American child star thing, the likes of which we’re pretty glad hasn’t made it across the Atlantic. Frankly, America need to concentrate on developing some of it’s amazing original Pop stars and spend less time bothering about these made-for-TV children, and they’re not that welcome this side of the pond. What is always welcome, however, is a new reMix from Monsieur Adi, who’s big room sounds make Zendaya’s Replay orders of magnitude more palatable.

Zendaya’s identikit vocals are twisted around in Adi’s rich musical tapestry and turned into something remarkably emotive. Used by Adi as another instrument, the vocals weave themselves around layers of rising synths and pulsating bass as the Monsieur delivers some spine-tingling moments and some breakdown’s fit for peak time. Adi’s reMixes never fail.

[Audio] Years & Years’ ‘Real’

Years&Years

The latest release from Kitsuné Music’s low key future-stars Years & Years is out next month. The follow up to their Traps single of late last summer, Real is set to be another critically acclaimed release from this London based three (cut down from five) piece. With a little studio magic from much hyped upcoming producer Lxury, these guys have crafted quite a unique, soulful, House/ElectroPop sound for themselves.

Distinctly British, and utterly compelling, Real is one of those track you just have to listen to a few times. Sitting in that particularly London place where UK House, Garage and R&B meet ElectroPop, Years & Years serve up a platter of warm, bassy synths and shuffling rhythms that coalesce into a backing for frontman Olly Alexander’s heartfelt and distant vocal. Try not clapping along, we dare you.

[Audio] Pat Lok & Bear Mountain’s ‘Same Hearts'(+ Ride The Universe and Oxford reMixes)

pat-lok

Our favourite Canadian Housemeister Pat Lok has teamed up with ‘the ever-awesome Holographic People’ for the release of his storming new single. Featuring the vocal styling of fellow Canadian outfit Bear Mountain, Same Hearts delivers slick dancefloor beats and spaced-out Cosmic vibes in equal measures, which the reMix package is stuffed to breaking point with Shelby Grey, Ride The Universe and Oxford.

Same Hearts elevates itself above Nu-Disco and House with a slew of complex beats and pitch perfect intertwining riffs. Smooth and laid back despite it’s intricacy, and the inclusion of Bear Mountain’s soulful vocal seals the deal for this song as a late night floorfiller that’ll captivate the crowd. Pan-Atlantic Disco superheroes Ride The Universe attack the track with some of the funkiest, infectious, retro Disco you’ll have heard in a while. With a big 80s Soul Pop intro, the reMix soon launces into something straight out of most nostalgic summer. Astounding bass, slick robo vocals and lush, lush snyths permeate every minute of this track. Frenchman Oxford’s take on the track is every bit as funky, but retaining the originals House groove for a result with one foot in the warehouse, on on the mirrorballed dancefloor. A stunning release from Pat Lok here, definitely desisted to become one of the tunes of the summer.
