[Audio] Com Truise’s ‘Subsonic’

Com Truise

Following Declination, Ghostly International have posted another track from SynthWaver supreme Com Truise’s forthcoming Wave 1 EP. To our surprise it happens to be Subsonic. Subsonic is a track that first reared it’s head around late 2012, it was featured on Truise’s Komputer Cast Vol. 6 podcast and we’d thought had since been long forgotten. It’s pretty awesome news that we’ll soon be able to pick up the full version of the track.

It’s four and a half minutes of pure Com Truise. Retro futuristic waves of vintage synth sounds. An electronic soundtrack to a dark future melded with shuffling urban rhythms and twisting keys. With one foot in 80s Sci-Fi soundtracks and the other in old school Hip Hop, Truise crafts blissful synthetic soundscapes with an underlying funk. Frankly, all music could sound like this and we’d be pretty happy about it.

[Audio] Sharooz’s ‘Terminvs’

Sharooz

Terminvs is London based TurboFunk producer Sharooz’s foray into post-EBM, post-Gesaffelstein Techno. All the cool kids are doing it these days, so why not. While the tunes might not be as intoxicating and dirty Disco, it can be a lot more fun to make, if you like brapping out with synths that is. And from the sound of Terminvs, Sharooz definitely does.

Amidst the ringing, occasionally dissonant, electronic mayhem, Sharooz actually lays down an utterly infectious Teutonic groove. A 242-esque bassline and some old school House drums keep the track more than interesting, giving the track a late 80s Acid House undercurrent. If fact, if you tune out the Industrial purcussion and synth brap you’re left with quite a classic sounding warehouse jam. A tune with a surprising number of levels.

[Audio] Metronomy’s ‘Love Letters’

metronomy

Devon Indie-ElectroPopsters Metronomy have unveiled the title track of their eagerly awaited new album, Love Letters. As tasters of what to expect from the new record go, it follows November’s I’m Aquarius single and will also be released as a single. Unlike I’m Aquarius, the track won’t be premièring through an astronomy app, which is a shame, but the track doesn’t need any fanfare. Just listen.

Love Letters is a bizarrely Honky-Tonk take on ElectroPop. With a 60s flair and a buoyant piano hook, the track is strangely enchanting. Feeling like it never takes itself too seriously, the mixture of synths, with woozy vintage sounds, a seriously LFO’d organ and a staggering muted trumpet solo make for an interesting, and unusually compelling track. A break from the norm for Metronomy, but a fun one.

[Download] Summer Occasion’s ‘Still Got <3'

Summer Occasion

Here’s he latest tune from LA based Tongan producer Summer Occasion. You may remember Summer Occasion from his dreamy reMix of Box Of Wolves & Christa Vi’s Boy. At the star of the year he dropped a new tune, Still Got ❤, a slow jam with a New Jack swing to it. Well, this tune had it’s origins in a more buoyant dance track which the man has just uploaded to his Sound Cloud page. Check out the Tropical bliss.

The original version of Still Got ❤ is a great, warbling, slice of summer gold. Existing at the nexus of laid back and upbeat. Rocking some hazy R&B samples and a plethora of hazy synth sounds, Summer Occasion brings his LA vibe to every corner of the globe. Mixing up a little Nu-Disco, a little Chillwave, a little Tropical with a whole heap of LA style Funk, this version of Still Got ❤ is ripe for dancefloors once the hot weather kicks in in 2014 (or right now if you;re in LA, we guess). Check out the alternate version too, for some chilled out swing vibes.

[Audio] Silenx’s ‘Hexocity’

Silenx

It’s been a while since we’ve had a new original tune from out favourite Portuguese export; Silenx. The man is kicking off the new year in style with this soundtrack to an imaginary movie. Silenx’s blurb for the track makes for compelling reading: “The year is 1981. The place, a parallel universe in which singularity is already a reality. Humans are enslaved by a network of artificial beings whose sole purpose is to migrate their collective consciousness to humanity, thereby reprogramming them to Eden state. However, a hidden mercenary group, helped by a rival faction of other artificial beings known as S.T.O.P (Singularity Termination Operation Plan) is determined not to let that happen.
Their base of operations: Hexocity.
”. The track is as bombastic as it makes itself out to be.

We’re secretly big fans of gun-cocking sounds used as purcussion, so we were pleased to find, amongst the otherworldly synths, a little gun-cock drum fill. this tune is pure cinematic Electro, brimming with growling sounds and ominous tones topped with rich emotional patterns. If the idea of a soundtrack is to convey the emotional tone and excitement of a movie, then we wanna’ see this move right now!

[Audio] The Knocks & X Ambassadors’ ‘Comfortable’

The Knocks

Comfortable is the new track from New York’s reigning DiscoPop duo The Knocks. Another collaboration, this one features fellow New Yorkian rising stars X Ambassadors (last seen on Keljet’s Love Of A Life) and continues The Knocks’ blissful laid back Disco oddessy. Sit back, relax, and get…well…comfortable.

The lead track from The Knocks  forthcoming new EP, Comfortable delivers the sunshine vibe in heaps. Rolling basslines and buzzing synths work together to create a head-nodding groove, loaded with city funk. The vocals supplied by X Ambassadors add to the urban rooftop party mood with chill verses and an anthemic chorus. It’s hard not to move to this one, so why bother resisting?
