Futurecop!’s ‘Starworshipper’ single

futurecop_03

I’ve got to say, for all my love for ’Futurecop!: The Movie’ I do prefer Futurecop! when they are doing what they do best, big retro ElectroPop, that’s why I love their Japan only album ‘It’s Forever, Kids’ and one of the best tracks on there was the Diana Gen featuring vocal version of ‘Starworhipper’, produced by none other than Diamond Cut.

Futurecop! must think so to as it;s getting a single release with an astounding reMix package. you probably know the original by now, infectious dancefloor ElectroPop with equal helpings of soul and nostalgia. A great single for the summer. The big excitement for me when seeing the reMix line up was the inclusion of the king of SynthWave Mitch Murder, and the man doesn’t disappoint. Mitch’s big, soundtrack influenced, ‘80’s sounds work perfectly with this track, and when the track kicks in with his trademark stratospheric soloing it’s pure gold. Lenno is another of out current favourites, when you want exciting, energy fuelled Nu-Disco, he’s your man and right here he delivers a tune suitable for the big room. Boombar man Jowie Schulner smoothes out the single with a slick laidback Dreamwave take on the song, giving the tune a sunrise vibe. Lastly it’s Out There who round off the EP with an Electro powerhouse of a track to end on a high. The single is a pretty essential purchase, how can a collection of talent like this go wrong?

Final DJs reMixes Tommie Sunshine & Disco Fries

Tommie-Sunshine-Disco-Fries

Final DJs in the mix again! This time tackling Tommie Sunshine & Disco Fries, already smooth as hell, ‘Don’t Look Back’. Can they make it any smother?

Why yes, yes they can. With liberal healings of soaring synth and some slick, subtle, vocoding Germany’s finest craft an epic slice of SynthWave euphoria. Whilst ultimately full of feel good synth Funk, this reMix also has some hauntingly beautiful moments, and that’s what we’ve always said  Final DJs do best. When they mix up their deeply emotional synth work with their straight up dancefloor grooves the world seems a better place.

Two new tunes from Mental Minority

Mental Minority

Mental Minority, then enigmatic German producer of awesome SynthWave, has unleashed another couple of new tracks on the world.

First up is ‘To M.J.’. The M.J. in question being the ‘Fox’ kind rather than the ‘Shamone’ kind. You’ll get this as it kicks off with a Back To The Future sample before launching into some sweet retro soundtrack SynthWave. With a nice refrain to bedrock the track, ‘To M.J.’ allows the shimmering leads to shine though, and there are several, weaving and intertwining with each other in quite an organic fashion. Mental Minority mixture of Italo grooves and emotional playing makes for an awesome, nostalgic chill out tune. The amazingly titled ‘I Used To Feel Quite Sad At Outdoor Raves’ opts for a more aggressive sound. A growling Italo bass and powerhouse drums drive this track which works a combination of early ‘90’s House and ‘80’s synth sounds in quite a unique style. It’s a building track that layers upon itself as it climbs toward the finale, a big hands-in-the-air moment.

The Frost’s ‘That’s Life’ EP

the frost

We first came across Russia’s The Frost reMixing Voyagers ‘Lovers’ track, they have now dropped their own EP, and it;s three tracks of synthy Disco goodness.

‘That’s Life’ is a gorgeous, full Nu-Disco tune that takes a laid back approach to things. With some of the best use of sound I have heard in a while the track plays with sonics to create, almost eerie, atmospheres that haunt, what is, a seriously smooth groove. reMix duties come manned by Serj V, a producer we’re definitely keeping an eye on, who makes thing a tad more synthetic with his future Italo mix which mixes the ghostly Funk of the original with a Disco bass, and Sergey Spell, who opts for a Tropical approach and brings things straight to the beach part. ‘that’s Life’ is a pretty killer début EP. Russia is doing it right now!

Jordan F’s epic, full length, ‘Abandoned Streets’

jordan-f

This is a truly epic treat to start the week with from Jordan F, the full, 11 minute version of ‘Abandoned Streets’. Originally part of the ‘Summers Of Tomorrow’ EP, this new version is a true musical journey.

First off I’d like to point out that 11 minutes is a lot of time to grow tired of a song, not once in ‘Abandoned Streets’ did I get bored, in fact not once did my attention waver, it’s just that compelling. So, the whole SynthWave, Outrun genre is built around soundtrack-esque styles, and it does a wonderful job of it too, but over ten minutes gives Jordan room to really tell a story, shifting moods from one section of the arrangement to the next, driving the narrative forward yet keeping the same underlying theme. The synth work here is nothing short of brilliance, from the growling bass to the solos which prompted me to leave a comment on SoundCloud asking “Are you fucking kidding me????? <3” they are that good, soaring and twisting around the track while the moody atmospheres pay out beneath them. Next time you’re walking home, in the rain, in the city, in the dark, stick this on, I guarantee your trip will be a whole lot more exciting.

Adeyhawke’s new tune

FULL_02

Adeyhawke is back with a brand new track and this time he’s mixing up the SynthWave with some funkin’ Nu-Disco and some slick Yacht-like melodies.

‘Lords’ is almost mind-blowing in it’s complex layers of basses and leads. Twisting basslines and intricate melodies dodge and weave in and out of each other, cut-up and infused with the strongest medical grade Funk around. Keeping his trademark retro feel, the track is loaded with ‘80’s sounds’ Adeyhawke give ‘Lords’ a Disco injection that commands the listener to move. You just can’t help it.

Nickee B

Nickee B

Smooth sounds now from French SynthWave producer Nickee B and ‘In The Heat Of The Night’.

‘In The Heat Of The Night’ plays out like deep late night Italo. With a mid-tempo groove that allows it’s lead lines to evolve with out being rushed, Nickee B takes his time and lays on layers of melody and sweet solo playing creating something quite magical. For those chilled nights in the city.

Sohight’s new tune

sohight

Riding high on the success of their, frankly awesome, ‘High School’ EP for Kiez Beats, Russian duo Sohight has dropped a new free track, ‘My Lovin’’

‘My Lovin’’ is just the kind of top-quality SynthWave with a Disco twist we’ve come to expect from these guys in the past few months. The squelchy bassline just oozes Funk which the shimmering, think, retro synths work their sweet sweet magic. With this track Sohight have managed to fall neatly into a very hard place for producers to reach, that spot with the rousing nostalgia of SynthWave and the dancefloor energy of Electro-House, without falling too far one way or the other and without loosing the groove.

‘High School’ is out 13th April and also includes a reMix from Kreap.

TEEEL & Selebrities

Selebrities

Rapidly becoming one of our favourite producers, the New Jersey based TEEEL cements his reputation even more by reMixing the awesome New Wave outfit Selebrities.

Taking ‘Forgotten’, Selebrities swirling mixture of Shoegaze and ElectroPop, TEEEL pulls back on the guitars and drops a huge electronic beat and layers of thick, lush synths. The track actually retains the same mood, the same dreamlike groove, but the added synths give it that cosmic edge and the variation in the drum pattern shake up the track.
