Yuksek Vs. The Magician

The Magician is on a total roll recently. Killer reMix after Killer reMix. Maybe Aeroplane splitting up was a good thing after all?

Taking Yuksek’s forthcoming new single Stephen Fasano has transformed it into a bouncy, Moog heavy, Nu-Disco groover with some amazing 90’s piano and just the right amount of cowbell. Both The Magician and Vito’s new Aeroplane have done some amazing work this year and, after all, two act is better than one! We’ll also be very interested to hear the new Yuksek album, ‘Living On The Edge of Time’. We really enjoyed the last one, let’s see if he can do it again.

The ‘On A Train’ EP is out 2nd May with a reMix from Gucci Vump as well.

Final DJs

Stuttgart’s Final DJs are slowly but surely gaining some recognition for their French Touch productions and reMixes.

The duo of Sebastian S. and Thomas D. obviously have a strong love of 80’s lead synths, their productions are awash with sweeping sounds riding atop the cool beats. Add in some big filter drops and you’ve got a package of top quality Nu-Disco. ‘Journey In Separate Ways’ is an epic retro-future jam with a Italo backing while new track K.I.D. has more of a space Funk vibe to rock the Nu-Disco dancefloors.

The duo have also recently reMixed Adrian Lux’s ‘Teenage Crime’ into a massive Filter-House/ElectroPop crossover monster!

Edwin Van Cleef’s cover of ‘Lisztomania’

Ever since it was premiered on this week’s episode of Fear Of Tigers’ ‘The Guestlist’ (which also featured yours truly!) discerning music lovers everywhere have been buzzing about Edwin Van Cleef’s cover of Phoenix’s much loved ‘Lisztomania’. Now it’s here!

Featuring the vocal skills of Jane Hanley from Kids At Midnight, Edwin’s cover is more laid back that we are used to from the man. Favouring a solid groove over frantic Nu-Disco Van Cleef proves his ability to handle, with equal ease, smooth DiscoPop. Jane’s vocals work amazingly well with the track, lending a smokey, sultry quality to the track.

Tomorrow’s supposed to be just as hot as today, I intend to throw this track on and turn it up.

Edwin Van Cleef (Feat. Jane Hanley) – Lisztomania

I’ll make no excuses of thinking this is 100% better than the original!

Lightwaves

Lightwaves just happens to be the solo project of Jan Rosenfeld, front-man of the awesome Boston Indie-Electropoppers Yes Giantess, getting his Electro Disco groove on.

His first track ‘Working All Day’ is an amalgamation of Electro styles, mixing up a bit of Robo Disco, a bit of French Touch, a bit of ElectroPop into a happy summer hit. Jan’s got a strong ear for how to rock the dancefloor and ‘Working All Day’ dips and peaks just where it’s supposed to, carrying you along with the cut-up vocoder vocals.

Check out Lightwaves official website for news of his forthcoming EP.

Madeon

What can we say about Madeon that hasn’t already been said in recent months, the dude is 16. 16! It’s ridiculous, 16 years old and already up there with some of the best ElectroPop/Nu-Disco/Dreamwave producers around. What’s he gonna’ have done by the time he’s 20????

Talented beyond his years this young French producer shows not only production skill but serious musicianship in his tunes. His stuff is serious Nu-Disco excellence with an ear for a retro melodies and some insane bass programming. With a knack for solid grooves and heart stopping drops underpinning his sparkling, soaring lead lines Madeon is defiantly on his way to the top. Check out his reMixes of Yelle and Alphabeat too, pure gold.

♫ Alphabeat – DJ (Madeon reMix)

What can we say? Can’t wait for Madeon’s début EP.

Peter & The Magician

Peter & The Magician is, of course Yuksek and Stephen Fasano, ex-one half of Aeroplane, both awesome producers in their own right. This collaboration between the two that appears on Kitsuné’s latest Maison compilation, Vol. 11, is some of the dopest analog disco you will hear in a while.

‘Twist’ mashes-up Yuksek’s vocoder love with The Magician’s Disco funk into something pretty special. I think so anyway, opinion seems to be divided about this track but, for me, it’s hit all the right synthesizer buttons. This is the kinda’ track that would have me melting into the dancefloor.

The Magician has also reMixes Yuksek’s forthcoming new (comeback?) single ‘On The Train’, you can hear it in his new mixtape here.

‘Twist’ is available on Kitsuné Maison 11 ‘The Indie-Dance Issue’, out 16th May.

Silenx

Silenx is Joel Azevedo, a Portuguese producer and relative newcomer to this thing we call Electro.

His music is heavily 80’s Synthsizer Funk influenced Dreamwave. One minute you are treated to a slap bass frenzy and squelchy Moog lead lines, the next it’s dark, deep synth soundtrack stuff. Complex and analog sounding, Silenx’s productions are the perfect 80’s soundtrack tunes, but teen movie fodder this ain’t! With a dark undercurrent the tracks have a driving, exciting edge to them. ‘Midnight Dreamer’ especially shows Joel to have an awesome knack for layering sounds in just the right places.

Silenx’s début EP, ‘Kaleidoscope’ is out soon on Boombar Music.

SaiR

Like Dreamwave? You will probably love this track!

Portugal’s  SaiR (A.K.A. Ruben Allen) is proving himself to be an upcoming producer to keep an eye on. With his new track, ‘Clockwise’ is displays an awesome talent for creating synth sounds, I literally adore every patch used in this track, and SaiR rides those sounds with ease. From the Electro-Funk bassline to the sweeping retro chords and the Funk lead that runs throughout Ruben handles intricate and intertwining melodies  like a master.

Keeping a strong 80’s vibe with the leads and a driving rhythm section ‘Clockwise’ is Dreamwave with a solid groove. Fans of the Valerie crew’s output wanting to put some Funk in their lives should defiantly check out SaiR.

‘Like’ Sair On Facebook to keep up with all his tunes:
