Nite Jewel’s ‘One Second Of Love’ video

Nite Jewel is just about to release her second album ‘One Second Of Love’ and it’s similarly titled lead single, and has premièred the video for the track.

Delaney Bishop directs this freaky ladies get-together come paper headed goat ceremony. I don;t know what’s going on, but it looks like most people are having a good time, and that’s what counts.

Nite Jewel’s ‘One Second Of Love’ album is released 6th March.

The Magician reMixes Sam Sparro

Sam-Sparro

ElectroPop crooner Sam Sparro’s latest single, ‘Happiness’ has been given a right good synthetic Disco going over from Belgium’s finest; The Magician.

I wouldn’t have immediately thought Sparro’s neo-Erasure style would have played this well with Fasano’s sound, but it really does, so well. The reMix managers to keep this funky and play up to the drama of Sparro’s vocals with a 242-esque bouncy bass and some chilling, buy funky, synths. This is probably the deepest track The Magician has put out to date and it just shows he’s not a one trick pony.

Bag Raiders reMixed by Cassian

bag_raiders

This huge reMix of, one of my favourite bands, Bag Raiders’ ‘Snake Charmer’ has been a staple of Cassian’s DJ sets for almost a year now, so it’s pretty exciting that he’s just been given the go-ahead to release it to the world.

This mix plays around with the tracks lead riff, then goes crazy with the percussion. It’s a track that strikes me as a big summer festival tune that would go down a storm with 20,000 other people in a muddy field. Maybe this summer we’ll see just such a happening.

This remix is included on the fourth volume of Modular Recordings’ awesome, and absent for far too long, ‘Leave Them All Behind’ compilation series, out now.

Rüfüs’ new EP

Rüfüs

‘This Summer’ is the lead track from Australian Indie-ElectroPop outfit Rüfüs’ forthcoming new EP.

Following on from the success of ‘We Left’ and ‘Paris Collides’ and their awesome reMix collections, ‘This Summer’ is a deep, anthemic, call-to-dance from the three peice. The track is actually more akin to an epic vocal House track and reminds me a little of Dirty Vegas, with more impassioned vocals.  With big rolling bass, massive soundscape-like synths, and a huge, booming vocal, could this be the beginning of Stadium Indie-Electro?

Liz & László from Automelodi and Xeno & Oaklander

Liz & László

Liz & László is the moniker of a new project from Automelodi’s Xavier Paradis and one half of Xeno & Oaklander, Liz Wendlebo.

Surprisingly upbeat and ElectroPoppy from the two Minimal Synth stalwarts, their first single, ‘Rien À Paris’, still comes loaded with Industrial percussion and icy synths. An hike in tempo, an almost bouncy bassline and some pretty catchy French vocals give the track a wider appeal though, whilst still retaining everything interesting about good Minimal Synth. The tracks inspiration comes from the 1970’s French surrealist film Céline Et Julie Vont En Bateau. ‘Rien À Paris’ will be released as a double A-Sideo with ‘Je Ne Suis Là Pour Personne’, a Françoise Hardy cover, on the flip.

Christa Vi’s ‘Your Heart’ single

Christa V

London based Australian/German singer/songwriter, with a cheeky preference for ElectroPop, Christa Vi,’s single ‘Your Heart’ finally sees release in March.

‘Your Heart’ is a track that’s best described as “really enjoyable”. It’s got everything you’d want from a summer Pop hit. Lyrically and vocally the track is shot through with a strain of melancholy, but the track retains a light, catchy air that is pretty infectious and will worm it’s way into your brain. We featured the Show Your Shoe reMix a while back but it’s worth revisiting as Nico nails it here with his trademark funky bass, big strings and musicality above and beyond that of many of his peers. The UK Funky quota is delivered by Reggie Pepper, who drops a deep, Housey take on the track, hypnotic bass and addictive grooves abound. ‘Your Heart’ is a confident début from Christa, and one that gives us the feeling we’ll probably be hearing a lot more from her in future.

Mickey reMixes Housse De Racket

Housse De Racket

Belgian producer Mickey may be a relative newcomer but he always brings his A-game, as he does on his latest mix, Housse De Racket’s forthcoming new single, ‘Château’.

Taken from Housse De Racket’s amazing ‘Alésia’ album, It’s a cool track to begin with, but when Mickey lays down that analog bass, like he does, the track becomes indie robo Disco gold. The understated blend of the bass, a subtle piano and lush strings with Housse De Racket’s Parisian Indie vocals make for a tack that seems not to try to impress, but does so naturally. It’s going to be quite a year for this Belgian producer, one that will see the name Mickey gaining more and more traction.

The ‘Château’ single will be “out soon” on Kitsuné Music.

Evokateur’s new EP

Evokateur

London based ElectroPop duo Evokateur are unleashing their latest creation early in march, the ‘Crows’ Wedding’ EP, which sees the duo drifting in a slightly Poppier direction.

When last they graced these pages, they were about to release the critically acclaimed ‘Wolf Girl’, and eclectic and dark slice of ElectroPop. The four tracks that make up ‘Crow’s Wedding’ have an altogether more optimistic and upbeat vibe to them. The EP kicks off with recent single ‘Same As You’, which is as good an example of classic SynthPop as you’ll ever find. Sarah’s passionate and, yes catchy, vocals ride so smoothly over Hector Villaraus’ production. Which this time around takes a much more accessible approach with big, lush synths and an sweet ‘80’s bassline. It’s an awesome lead for the EP. ‘Misery’ is up next, and OK, that’s a pretty dark title, but the track, although more of a brooding lament than the EPs opener, is still musically pretty Poppy. A rolling and enveloping expression of synth and vocal emotion. ‘Wildflowers’ is an ‘80’s electronic power-balled that’s up there with the best of them that showcases Sarah’s vocals to their smokey, dramatic fullest. The EP’s closing track is the only song on the EP that really hints at Evokateur’s EBM roots with it’s pulsating Industrial percussion. ‘Crows’ Wedding’ is definitely a confident EP, and Evokateur definitely have a lot to be confident about.

Radio INK’s ‘Who We Are Tonight’ video

We haven’t heard from Australian ElectroPopsters Radio INK since last years ‘Rocket’ single, but they’re back with a brand new track, the first off of their forthcoming début album, and a shiny new video.

‘Who We Are Tonight’ is the kind of massive electronic Pop that we’ve come to expect from this Antepodean troupe with a massive chorus. Not too sure what’s going on in the Jefferton James directed video, but it looks nice.

Radio INK are going on tour in Oz with Aqua of all people! Details on their website.

Little Jinder’s ‘Keep On Dreaming’ video

Sometimes I get the feeling people don’t really know what to do with an artist like Little Jinder.

Take her forthcoming single, the big bass and little voiced ‘Keep On Dreaming’, I wouldn’t be trying to sell this to the UK Funky or Dubstep crowd, I’d shop this to the eclectic Indie-Electro listeners. It’s a really good track that might not get the recognition it deserves if it’s stuck in a pigeon hole.

‘Keep On Dreaming’ is out 13th March on Trouble & Bass.
