Cadillac covers Daft Punk

Cadillac

Covering something from Daft Punk’s legendary, and frankly untouchable, ‘Discovery album? That’s a pretty brave act. Let’s see how Australian Dreamwavey Indie-Electro outfit Cadillac tackle this huge, and dangerous feat.

‘Too Long’ is one of the most vocal tracks Daft Puck have ever done, so it’s probably the best choice for a band to cover and Cadillac do an admirable job. Produced as part of Le Coq Sportif and Future Classic’s series of Australian covers of classic French tracks, the cover is a chilled out Tropical take o the track. Cadillac haven’t tried to reproduce the laid back French Disco House of the original but rather gone down a new beach vibe route, probably a good idea.

Futurecop! reMix Foster The People

FosterThePeople

Futurecop! mare back in the mix with this, their version of Foster The People’s ‘Don’t Stop (Color The Walls)’.

The first thing you notice about the track is the rapid fire Italo, almost EBM, bassline. A first for Futurecop!, but gives the track a driving energy. This soon gives way to a big, dirty Electro chorus full of chainsaw synths. The Birmingham SynthWave duo have given the track a euphoric dancefloor working over that builds and builds with layers of growling electronic until the tension breaks and the good times roll.

The return of Van She

VanShe

Well, the big news of the last 24 hours is Van She are back. Did you hear that?, muthafuckin’ Van She are back!

Modular Recordings have dropped the first, title and lead track from their forthcoming new album, ‘Idea Of Happiness’. So what’s it like? It’s an unexpected beast. The track is classic Van She. Anthemic, rousing Indie-Electro, where the unexpected comes into play is with the big Mason-esque Electro-House synths which, I’ll be hones, take a little getting used to. But the more you listen to it the more they start to work perfectly with the tune. This track is going to kill at festivals this summer.

The return of Lé Lé, this time in English

Le_Le_Press_Pic

In January we posted about some brand new, and long awaited, material from Rimer London‘s  Lé Lé. The track was ‘Neen’, an insanely catchy track despite being in Dutch.

Now Lé Lé have dropped the track in English, now translated to ‘No’, in preparation for the release of their third album ‘Party Time’. This new version is every bit as infection, the bass every bit as bouncy, the melody every bit as hypnotic, only this time us poor English speakers can sing along with it to. Rimmer London is one of out favourite producers, his analog Disco works so well with MC Faberyayo droll rhymes and addictive choruses. While you’re here check out their tongue-in-cheek cover of Whitney Houston’s ‘I Will Always Love You’. Whitney never sounded so robotic.

Capital Cities’ new single

Capital Cities

Capital Cities are back with summer good time summer grooves for the approaching good weather.

The LA duo’s Dreamwave leaning blend of Indie-Electro not comes complete with a brass section with only adds to the laid back, no-cares-in-the-world, party vibe. ‘Kangaroo Court’ is four minutes of pure sunshine gold. The synths are playful, the vocals quietly anthemic mic, and the horns are just a wave for the listener to ride. We’ve not had much in the way of Indie-Electro classics this year, hopefully this monster from Capital Cities is just the beginning.

Dublin Aunts’ new track

Dublin Aunts

Australian duo Dublin Aunts have unleashed a new track on the world. Prepare to go deep.

Taking their mixture of Disco and Deep House and adding an awesome ‘90’s sheen, Dublin Aunts’ new track ‘No Holding Back’ works alongside the classics of soulful House. With a heavy bass and pitch perfect use of a really house organ sound that weave in and out of each other, ‘No Holding Back’ is a laid back, involving track that just sucks you into itself. Add to that a lush vocal, and more ‘90’s vibe in the form of a trumpet solo, and you have the makings of a classic tune.

Airwolf reMixes Parachute Youth

Parachute Youth

Australian SynthWave/Disco.Indie-Electro producer Airwolf has been a bit quiet of late, but come storming back with this huge reMix of Parachute Youth’s ‘Awake Now’.

‘Awake Now’ was the B-side to Parachute Youth’s insanely catchy ‘Can’t Get Better Than This’ and Airwolf turns it into a big retro floorfiller. Building the track around some huge synth stabs Airwolf takes the track in mew 80s directions making the track suddenly take on a Rockwell-esque vibe but reMixed for 2008, Big Electro for any era!

Awkoder’s ‘Nightrain’ reMixes

awkoder

We featured Awkoder’s moody ‘Nightrain’ earlier in the month, a evocative, atmospheric Italo tinged SynthWave tune.

Now there’s three reMixes of the track for you to relive the stormy highs of two weeks ago. Frenchman Tommy ramps up the excitement factor with driving drums and laser blast synths. Tommy’s attention grabbing reimagining of the track is full of nervous energy and makes the perfect partner for the brooding original. Protector101’s mix brings things back to the dark clouds vibe of the original but adds a touch of his own deep synth work with some particularly bright lead lines and twisting, amazing, solos playing against the dark moods of the track. Michael Brun’s Lueur Verte project takes the tune straight to that strange place where retro synth music and hair metal meet at the movies for a ‘Fuck Yeah’ moment of fist pumping.
