[Audio] Ghost Beach remixed by Gigamesh

Ghost Beach

It still a couple of weeks until New York duo Ghost Beach release their Modern Tongues reMix EP, but we’ve already heard a few of the reMixes included. Here’s the next in line. We’re were groovin’ to his massive last single, Enjoy, and Minneapolis’ finest, Gigamesh, drops this beautiful reMix of Miracle. Part of the reMix album, this tune was so good they actually released it as a single last week via Spotify.

Eschewing his usual high energy Nu-Disco on favour some something a little more reflective, Gigamesh weaves an emotionally rich tapestry of intertwining synth lines and pads. It’s a bassy track that conjures a rich introspective mood. Pitching down the vocals a bit ads the the anthemic feel, it’s just a song that you can;t help but connect with. Undulating synth riffs playing against deep booming kicks whit that heartfelt vocal is an amazing combination. The reMix EP can’t come quick enough.

[Video] Foxes’ ‘Unknown’

Foxes The Unknown New Demo 2013 YouTube

This is the latest, well…nothing, from London singer/songwriter Foxes. It’s a demo from her forthcoming début album. It’s not a new single, the video isn’t even an actual video. But it’s all pretty amazing.

The footage was all shot on Foxes’ tour of the UK, US and Europe, and is basically her and her band mucking about to one of the best ElectroPop tracks of the year. really. This is like 2007 good.

Foxes début album is due out this year.

[MP3] The Boy & Sister Alma’s début single

The Boy & Sister Alma

The Boy & Sister Alma are a brand new ElectroPop outfit out of Montana making some a noise with elements of 80s Pop, avant-Pop and Indie-Electro. they’ve just released their début single, the atmospheric and euphoric Lizard Eyes. Début singles are always a tricky proposition. I’s like your manifesto, introducing yourself and telling the world what you are about, The Boy & Sister Alma have done pretty well picking their premiere soundtrack.

Lizard Eyes is a laid back, haunting at times, slice of ElectroPop that manages to walk the line between 80s Retro Pop and IndiePop. Lilting vocals over an almost Italo SynthWave backing makes for an unusual combination, but works really well. There’s even a rockin; guitar solo in there it keep even the staunchest of 80s epic purist happy. All-in-all it’s a little rough around the edges, but The Boy & Sister Alma are definitely an act that shows promise, and we’re interested to see where they go from here.

[MP3] Jupiter reMixed by Mr. Gonzo

Jupiter

French Nu-Disco producer Mr. Gonzo is on a roll right now. Hot on the heels of his storming new single with Romuald, Gon Be A Thrill, his is the first reMix to break cover from the long rumoured Jupiter reMix album. The amazing Parisian ElectroPop duo have roped in a star studded cast to rework their Juicy Lucy album of last year. Mr. gonzo will be rubbing shoulder with the likes of Little Boots, Yan Wagner, Para One & Tacteel, JBAG, Juveniles, The Supermen Lovers, Steve Moore, Marius, and Colour Vision, which is quite scary company. Let’s see how he does.

Elliot Uppercut, one of the standouts on a stand out album, is the track Gonzo gets to grips with and fully delivers on smooth and sexy French Touch Disco. Despite being quite high energy, Mr. Gonzo manages to keep things on a laid back tip using lush synths and a sliding Disco bassline to their fullest. Amélie’s vocals sound as sweet as ever as the glide over. The synths in this reMix are so think, they melt into the track like chocolate, creating this delicious Disco ooze. This is a track mirrorballs were invented for. It’s so brilliant it’s like an audio lens-flare

[Audio] Adeyhawke’s ‘Storm Runner’

Adeyhawke

It’s been a while, but Irish SynthWave/Dreamwave/Nu-Disco dude Adeyhawke is back and fighting fit. As the producer jumps back into our consciousness he hits the ground running with his latest tune, Storm Runner. It’s a huge tune, and exciting tune, a tune that definitely makes us remember what we’ve been missing. And, hopefully, a tune that signals a resurgence of Adeyhawke activity.

Storm Runner is a beast of many faces. Blending the epic quality of SynthWave, the groove of Nu-Disco and the infectious hook of Indie-Electro, Adeyhawke serves up a smörgåsbord of gritty powerful hooks and sparking synth riffs. It’s got a cool retro feel, especially in some of the soaring solos, but a very contemporary production style, bringing all these emotionally resonant electronic music styles into the big room for thousand-yard-stare dance-off. We really can’t stop listening to this one.

[Video] Westbam & Richard Butler of The Psychedelic Furs’ ‘You Need The Drugs’

Westbam feat. Richard Butler You Need The Drugs YouTube

This is the video for German techno legend Westbam’s new single. featuring the vocals of Richard Butler of The Psychedelic Furs fame. You Need The Drugs is a moody and beautiful electronic soundscape, driven by metronome military beats, toped with Butler’s impassioned lament.

The video is actually part of a documentary being but together by Joerg Hoppe. Titled B-Movie, the film will portray West Berlin in the 80s using found footage from the period and our friend Mark Reeder’s point-of-view, that of a Brit living in cold war Berlin.

You Need The Drugs is taken from Westbam’s forthoming new album God’s Road, with features more collaboration with the likes of New Order’s Bernard Sumner, Hugh Cornwell of The Stranglers and Iggy Pop.

[MP3] Kash reMixes Cassie

Cassie

Here’s an interesting little oddity that really grows on you.London based ElectroPop singer/songwriter Kash, who you may remember from Viceroy’s reMix of his track Long Way From Home, was basically mucking around with a track, injected the vocal from Cassie’s Me & U and came up with some serious deep warehouse brilliance. Sometimes happy accidents do happen, like that time we redesigned electronic rumors on a whim and it turned out alright.

It’s a hypnotic tune, and by hypnotic we don’t mean repetitive, more like entrancing. All low kicks and enigmatic keys, the reMix is perfectly formed to loose yourself in, in some dingy, dark club. Saying Cassie’s voice is pitched down doesn’t quite do them justice. A better explanation would be to say Kash has transformed her vocals in to some kind of House flavoured Gregorian chant, that weave in and out of his smokey backing track. If you get into this track, just be sure you can get out again.
