[Audio] Futurecop! & Patrick Baker’s ‘Living In A Daydream’

Futurecop!

Dreamwave heroes Futurecop!’s new tune, featuring retro ElectroPop’s man of the moment Patrick Baker on vocals, starts off sounding like Shiny Toy Guns. It’s doesn’t keep sounding like Shiny Toy Guns, but those opening few bars are enough to hook you in to this massive ElectroPop epic.

In fact, there’s a lot about Living In A Daydream that throwsback to that certain crop of early-to-mid 2000’s electronic Emo bands, but with added big room synths and Progressive House sensibilities. Big leads and rousing pads fill the track to bursting point while Baker eschews his usual soulful vocal take for something a little more energetic and Poppy. The end result is fun, youthful, slightly nostalgic, but utterly optimistic. Power ElectroPop at it’s finest.

[MP3] digitalfoxglove’s ‘Love You More’

digitalfoxglove

Easing you into it’s groove gently, Love You More kicks off with a laid back clapping rhythm as the filter slowly sweeps int he hook, so by the time the grove launches itself you are already right in there. Taking in Nu-Disco and French Filtered House in equal measures, digitalfoxglove creates a swirling cloud of vintage vocal samples, phased synths, and a vibe you can’t help but nod your head to. [Audio] Two Door Cinema Club’s Madeon produced ‘Changing Of The Seasons’

Two Door Cinema Club

French wunderkind Madeon’s career is just going from strength to strength, and now it seems he’s an in-demand producer. The start of his production career (and we’re using the word ‘producer’ in it’s traditional sense here) sees Madeon behind the mixing desk for Kitsuné IndiePoppers Two Door Cinema Club as he busts out their forthcoming new single Changing Of The Seasons.

The result is weirdly, or aptly depending on what you expect, like Two Door Cinema jamming with Madeon, which, we guess, makes sense. Two Door’s trademark cheery guitar is still present, as is Alex Trimble’s lilting and whimsical vocals, but in this case they are paired with Madeon big-room lead sounds and sidechained riffs along with a tight Disco beat. You’d have though that this would have been a bit of a mess, the guitars and synths clashing, but they really don’t, if fact they end up being perfectly complementary and that’s got to be testament to Madeon’s skills.

[MP3] Sauly’s ‘Love From Me’

Sauly

Here’s a slice of deep deep, slightly Techy, House to carry to off into the weekend, and it’s free courtesy of Pole Position Recordings. The tune comes from Essex based producer Sauly as a precursor to future projects alongside Pole Position. The track’s called Love From Me, prepare to start dancing.

With a shuddering thin layer of Industrial, mechanised, Tech sounds drifting over the tune, a juxtaposition is created between this chattering noise and the low basses, soulful Chicago groove displayed by the rest of the tune. It makes for quite a unique combination and one we expect works pretty well on the dancefloor. The smooth vocal sample, riding 909 beats and square wave chimes, is pure late night jam, only spurred on by the rougher elements command to dance. We await Sauly’s future work with interest.

[Audio] DW’s ‘Nine Lives’ EP (+ reMixes from Mille, Johan Agebjörn & Le Prix and Flashworx)

DW

As well as being one of the top futurist graphic designers in the game (you’ll have seen his work gracing countless electronic music releases cover art), Kilian Eng is also one half of Swedish SynthWave ElectroPopers DW alongside Amir Zaino. This EP seems to have taken, literally, years to be see the air, but that just makes this week’s release all the more sweet, and when you see the reMix line-up (Johan Agebjörn & Le Prix, Flashworx, Indiscreet and fucking Mille!) it makes this EP all the more sweet.

The EP kicks off with it’s title track, a track that really settles you into the tone of the EP. With five minutes to play with, DW bring a vintage SynthPop arrangement with retro future synths and a particularly Swedish set of vocals. Anthemic and uplifting, the track delivers all you could want from a nostalgic SynthPop tune. Parallel Persons takes things in a slightly heavier direction with a rolling Electro beat and a more enigmatic atmosphere. The surprising thing about this release is that is seems to have more in common with 80s SynthPop than the current SynthWave sound that you instinctively associate DW with (mainly due to the use of their artwork), there’s no big Outrun tunes here, this is pure vintage synthetic Pop, pitch perfectly produced. Razorblades and You And Me continue this theme, delivering rich, emotional, slightly chilly electronic music. Johan Agebjörn & Le Prix go full on Scandinavian ElectroPop with their reMix of Nine Lives, loading on on high calorie beats and swirling synths while Flashworx’s reMix of Parallel Persons goes in a more moody direction with an energetic Italo tune. They eyebrow raising inclusion here is a reMix from Swedish SynthWave genius Mille, on of our favourite producer who in recent years has had his attention occupied by his current band Autostrada, but returns to some of that Mille goodness to reMix You And Me, bringing his trademark ChipTune-esque Dreamwave ElectroPop energy to the EP and playing out the release in fine style, epic string breakdown included. A highly recommended EP..

[Audio] Speaker Bomb’s ‘B.A.B.Y.’/’Superdisco’

Speaker Bomb

Speaker Bomb are a Nu-Disco trio from Bologna and San Francisco who are about to release a summery double A-side single on Heavy Disco. Two tracks of no complications, no delusions of greatness, bottom line party tunes, B.A.B.Y. and Superdisco. You can tell from the names what the deal is, can’t you? Switch of your brain and put your shades on, we’re going in.

B.A.B.Y. is a French House influenced Disco tune, revolving around a handful of totally infectious Disco samples. If you;re looking for anything innovative or intelligent, you’ve come to the wrong place, this is pretty lowest common denominator Disco, but executed with flair and one that’s pretty much guaranteed to keep the floor moving. Similar vibes are found on it’s AA-side. Superdisco, once again, is all about the filtered loops and tight beats. What for the build and get this on when your relaxing by the pool, if you’re lucky enough to have a pool, which we’re not. Oh well.

[Audio] Plastic Plates reMixes The Aston Shuffle’s ‘Can’t Stop Now’

The Aston Shuffle

The amazing Plastic Plates is on a roll. After a couple of months of silences Felix Bloxsom is following up on the première of his new single with another new tune a mere three days later. His new offering comes in the form of this reMix for Australian ElectroPop duo The Aston Shuffle and their forthcoming new single Can’t Stop Now.

The original version of the track is pretty full-on, commercial, big room Electro, which Plastic Plates turns into something a little deeper and groovier. Serving up a heaped plate of synthetic Disco, Felix brings together an Italo bassline, a House beat and popping arpeggios in a tasty Nu-Disco sauce culminating in a laid back, but effortlessly body moving tune that uses the vocals of the original in anthemic ways. The single also hold mixes from Special Features and Matisse & Sadko and one we are particularly interested in from the one and only Lenno.
