[Audio] Chromeo reMixes Boys Noize

boys noize

We were a bit hot-and-cold when it came to Electro superstar Boys Noize’s new album Out Of The Black. Half of it was really good, the other half seems to be a bit by-the-numbers, and we would have expected more in 2012. One of the highlights of the record, if not the best track, was the album’s first single What You Want. This modern Electro re-imagining of PIL’s Order Of Death gave us really high hopes for Out Of The Black, so if he was going to get one of our favourite duos of all-time, Chromeo, to reMix anything, we are glad it was that.

And that’s what happened. The Chromeo reMix of What You Want actually starts off sounding more like Dave 1 and P-Thugg severely funking up the PIL track, before the just make it totally their own, after a while there’s next to no trace of the Boys Noize track left and what you’re left with is some amazing, funky tune loaded with Chromeo’s trademark talk box work, their trademark piercing synths and Dave 1 giving it some vocal passion. Perfect work, and a new Chromeo track. Which is, coincidentally, what we wanted.

[MP3] Cassian’s ‘On & On’

cassian

Sydney producer Cassian has been laying low for a few months, since the summer, but he’s re-entering our consciousness in style with a brand new that that is not only hot as hell, but free too! This one’s perfect for getting you in the mood for a weekend’s partying.

On & On has got a driving bassline, with just a twist of Funk, that’s guaranteed to get you moving. A punchy digital sound that follows the beat, the bassline power this tune onward and upward. Floaty female vocal samples drift in and out of the track with buzzing synths infect your brain. It;s groovy enough to slot into a Disco set but loaded with House cool. Deep, breezy, good times.

[MP3] Dublin Aunts edit Manuel Tur

Manuel Tur

Cyclist dropped this one in his October mixtape, it’s Australia’s finest Disco-House export Dublin Aunts and their cheeky little bootleg Edit of German Housemeister Manuel Tur’s single of earlier this year, Back To Me. Apparently the guys “Always heard shades of Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Rhiannon’ in there” and so dropped a little Mac guitar into the chorus and smoothed things out a bit. The result is dreamy.

The track immediately carries you along on it’s warm, rumbling bass, and you’ll find most of the track kept largely intact. It’s just as compelling, just as hazy, just as blissful, but with a little extra added something. that something is a weird folky vibe that somehow compliments the track perfectly. Making the link between Tur’s tune and Rhiannon is the genius here, and we totally see where Dublin Aunts were coming from. We’re gonna’ save this for Sunday.

[MP3] Soul II Soul reMixed by Follow Me

Soul II Soul

Let us begin by saying that, for various reasons, Soul II Soul have a big place in our hearts, so we approach reMixes with trepidation. When this version of Back to Life (However Do You Want Me?) landed in out inbox we were hesitant, but the fact that it comes from awesome Brooklyn duo Follow Me piqued our interest.

So, once you’ve got over Back to Life (However Do You Want Me?) without that modified Grand Central Station break (and that’s quite a hurdle to get over) Follow Me do an awesome job bringing the track to modern dancefloors. With a deep, deep bass groove Follow Me walk the line between House and SynthWave bringing a Warehouse vibe but a little of SynthWave’s retro flare. Adding some playful melodies, this duo somehow manage to retain some of the mood of the originals whist aiming it squarely at House parties. Follow Me have treated the original with respect and turned-in a fantastic update, you should check this out.

[Audio] Monsieur Adi reMixes Don Diablo

diablo

Monsieur Adi’s back with a brand new reMix. The French wizard uploaded his latest sounds to his SoundCloud page today and it’s a stormer, and one we first heard in his latest mixtape. He’s delivered his take on Don Diablo forthcoming new single, the Noonie Bao featuring M1 Stinger, and it’s a track that really let’s Adi play around and do what he loves.

In all honestly we haven’t been overly keen on anything Diablo has done since Animale, but we’ve been constantly loving every scrap of Adi’s post-Nu-Disco output, we easily rate him as on of the most talented musicians working in dance music right now, his latest experimentations have been nothing short of beautiful. Within his reMix of M1 Stinger is everything you’d want from an Adi track, a rich string section, head-nodding Electro beats and  an added layer of melody as Adi twists the vocal, using it as another instrument in his orchestra. Speaking of the vocal, it’s actually really sweet, Bao’s tone works really well with the new, introspective, Adi. All these emotive elements culminate in a screaming synth solo. The track is beautiful, there’s not a lot more than that we can say.

[Audio] Nathan Swiss’ new EP

Nathan Swiss

The latest release from excellent Cardiff based label Pole Position Recordings comes from Dutchman Nathan Swiss and his Two Worlds single. A gloriously lush slice of laid back Disco, Two Worlds comes backed with a host of reMixes and B-sides.

Out boys, Germany’s Final DJs step up with a truly epic seven minute Disco oddessy. Funking bass and massive stabs rule this track. Bumping up the BPM and working an infectious piano hook into proceedings Final DJs deliver a Cosmic opus, with it’s funky, Housy feet on the dancefloor and it’s head in outer space. Elsewhere on the single you’ll find a few new tracks, including the poolside Nu-Disco bliss of Daze, which rolls with a horn sample and funkin’ bass. Pole Position’s own Viper Strike teams up with Swiss for All Night, the EP’s final track, a smooth buzzing Disco tune with brain-worm infectiousness in it’s hooks. More quality tracks from the Pole Position stable.

[MP3] Steel Horses

steel horses

Steel Horses is the new side-project from the duo who brought you SynthWave/ElectroPop act Voyager. There Saint Petersburg residents are now turning their attention to some deep jackin’ House. Isn’t everybody these days! (Not that we’re complaining. Nu-Chicago, as nobody is calling it, is really worming it;s way into our hearts).

Feel It In My Beat is exactly what we’re talking about. Pure Chicago vibes and an addictive piano hook. Steel Horses let a hypnotic vocal sample ride over a low, low, warping bass and eerie strings, but the combination of everything is far from eerie, it’s proper late night House vibes and dark warehouse fodder. (Don’t) Stop The Music takes a slightly funkier approach, with hints of Boogie and lush sax riff against the burbling, almost Acidic, soup of synths. Deep bass and impulsive stabs keep this one moving. Impressive stuff for these guys new début. One to watch.

[Audio] MiGHty mOUse reMixes Seasfire

Seasfire

The latest lucky crew to be gifted by the reMix talent of the mighty MiGHty mOUse is none other than rowdy Bristol Indie-Electro outfit Seasfire. They’ve got a new EP incoming on Cheap Thrills so it seems fitting that the Mouse gets his hands on the track, and new MiGHty mOUse reMixes are always good news for us.

MiGHty mOUse brings it bouncy this time with an upbeat Electro mix that isn’t quite as cosmic as his Cosmic Disco work and isn’t quite as Housy as his House tunes. but would just sit nicely into any Electro-Disco set. Oh, don’t worry, MiGHty mOUse’s spaced-out synth groove is still present and correct, only this time around it’s paired with a absolutely infectious bassline that will worm it;s way into your head and feet. The reverb washed vocal track from Seasfire’s original seems to suit the track well, complimenting, rather than overpowering, the tune.

♫ Seasfire – How Do You Sleep? (MiGHty mOUse reMix)

Seasfire’s five track EP is released 2nd December on Cheap Thrills.
