Alfa drops new tracks

Binary floorfiller Alfa has dropped three new audio bombs this week, so get ready for some serious synthesizer fallout.

First up is a original track, ‘Sky Patrol’. A pumping Nu-Disco jam with the dancefloor energy turned up to 11. Vocoded vocals are sent through a mangel and spat out the other side over frantic arpeggios…I defy you not to move to this!

Alfa – Sky Patrol

The man has also let loose a couple of new official reMixes he’s put together. His reMix for ODahl’s ‘Dance Mama’ show his more chilled Dreamwave (more Binary!) side and the FM slap bass on his mix of ‘Givin’ It Up’ by Vim Cortez is something you’ve got to hear for yourself!

♫ ODahl – Dance Mama (Alfa reMix)

♫ Vim Cortez – Givin’ It Up (Alfa reMix)

While other Binary artists have been getting some fantastic coverage lately it’s defiantly time for Alfa to step into the limelight!

Gemini Club & Midnight Conspiracy

Chicago’s Midnight Conspiracy have been responsible for some awesome reMixes in the last year, while we last heard from Gemini Club through their awesome reMix of The Vanish’s ‘Hold On’.

Here we have MC reMixing Gemini Club’s début single ‘Ghost’, throwing into a wonky bass powerhouse. A step apart from their huge Italo reMixes of recent time and, according to their email, a taste of darker and heavier things to come.

All I know is that bass drop slays!

Gemini Club’s ‘Ghost’ drops 24th September.

Starsmith’s very first video!

We’ve already given you a listen to, ElectroPop producer extraordinaire now maker of slick Nu-Disco, Starsmith’s début single, ‘Give Me A Break’/’Knuckleduster’, and now you can check the video for ‘Give Me A Break’.

Maybe I over analyse, but I couldn’t help thinking ‘flippin’ hell, that must have taken so long in editing!’ while watching this stop-motion insanity.

Anyway, it’s really nicely put together and despite it obviously being set in New York (or somewhere similar) it’s got a nice British Punky fell to it. The use of different print processes for the various animations gives it quite a ‘cut-out fanzine’ vibe which might seem at odds with a smooth soulful disco track, but it’s really really not, it works awesomely!

‘Give Me A Break’/’Knuckleduster’ is released 11th October on limited edition 12”.

Grum; ‘Through The Night’ reMixes

We’ve already featured the pretty hilarious video for Grum’s forthcoming single ‘Through The Night’, one of our favourite tracks from hid début album and now we are able to bring you a couple of reMixes from the forthcoming release.

First up is electronic rumors staple Beaumont’s contribution to the reMix package is of the quality we’d expect from the man. A smooth jam that takes the Toto sample and works it into a mash up between the equivalents of some of Jan Hammer’s incidental music for Miami Vice and an Ed Banger floorfiller. Excellent work as always. Belgian Electro Rocker Perseus take a more pure Nu-Disco route, with a nice bit of French Touch and some Disco licks.

What I like about both these reMixes is that they are prime examples of why I love reMix culture these days (amongst the Nu-Disco/Electro-House/Dreamwave scenes anyway), the level of musical ability required. No longer is it acceptable, as it was 5 years ago, so simple lay down a beat and a couple of arpeggios under an acapella and call it a reMix (the amount of people who got rich doing that is unbelievable!). These days if you want to stay up with the cream of the crop were talking about writing basslines, writing lead lines…writing music!

It’s all good!

Grum – Through The Night (Beaumont reMix)

Grum – Through The Night (Perseus Remix)

The single is out 6th October, expect remixes from Beaumont, The Swiss, Tom De Neef, Perseus and Grum himself.

Danger Vs. La Roux

I get the feeling ‘In For The Kill’ is due for a rerelease. La Roux has been chatting about filming a new video for it on her Twitter feed and now we have this gem. It’s only bloody Danger reMixing La Roux init!!!

Danger and La Roux is an awesome combination, and it doesn’t disappoint. It does, however, surprise. It’s a mid-tempo, bass heavy, almost Dubsteppy in places jam that drops in bits and pieces of familiar Danger style melody. It works amazingly well and comes off as a kinda’ 80’s Dubstep track. New genre anyone?

La Roux – In For The Kill (Danger Ocean reMix)

No release date for the rereleased ‘In For The Kill’ yet, looks like soon though.

Russ Chimes – ‘Midnight Club’

Just for the hell of it, so you can watch the entire thing without having to your favourite music site (er…us!), here’s all three parts of Russ Chimes’ ‘Midnight Club’ EP mini-movie, as directed by Saman Keshavarz and produced by Francis Pollara.

Saman and Francis previously created the equally awesome Luv Deluxe video for Cinnamon Chasers, they’ve got this dream like style with an underlying tension that seems to gel really well with electronic music. Let’s how we see more of their work soon.

The ‘Midnight Club’ EP is coming in October on Eye Industries

Russ Chimes ‘Midnight Club’ trilogy complete

Russ Chimes‘ ‘Midnight Club’ EP trilogy is complete. Director Saman Keshavarz’s experiment in non-linier storytelling over three pieces (to accompany the three tracks on Chime’s forthcoming EP) has reached it’s conclusion, the predicted ass kicking in tow.

Getting the girl and killing the baddies is the order of the day with a healthy dose of intrigue and the coolest of cool LA summer backdrop.

Musically the EP sounds awesome, with it being hard to choose between ‘Tertre Rouge’ and this new track ‘Targa’ as my favourite. Either way the ‘Midnight Club’ EP sounds like a masterwork of Nu-Disco.

LexiconDon; two new versions of ‘Student Body’

Well, this summer truly is the summer of LexiconDon!

See that little search box to the right? Well if you type ‘LexiconDon’ in there you will be rewarded with about a days worth of reading and music. We’ve written about the LA SynthPoppers quite a lot in recent months, but hell their début album, ‘Pink + Blue’, really was that good. We thought so anyway.

So here we have a couple of new reMixes of the second released track from the album ‘Student Body’ courtesy of the boys label dubFrequency.

De Pepe Guinta brings us a very chilled, slightly Indie, slightly Chillwave mix but we are brought straight back to the dancefloor by TomAHawk with a feel good, retro synth, house stormer!

LexiconDon’s ‘Pink + Blue’ is out now on dubFrequency/Binary, and keep it locked to electronic rumors for our forthcoming Binary event!
