Whether leaks harm or help and artist in their promotion I open for debate, I can say that, whether harming or hurting, it probably fucks up their pre-planned release track somewhat. Over the weekend a new track from Outrun originator Danger leaked, which looks like it forced his hand to release it through official channels, so here it is.
Danger was one of the undisputed reigning champions of Electro in 2007, even now you can drop something like ‘11h30’ and the place will go apeshit, but other than trickles, and the occasional leak (usually ripped from a live set) EP’s are very few and far between, three in five years, and the last one was two years ago. So the release of ‘22h39’ sees a Danger that despite first appearances isn’t all that different from the Danger of old. His production were always measured and melodic and although the beat is more Disco than Electro-House, it’s still the haunting, driving, powerful Danger we remember.
We’ve already bigged-upNero’s new video game Dubstep tune ‘Me & You’. It’s a track we’re really digging. Just to add to out love of the tune 8-bit Electro-House guru Danger has dropped his reMix of the track.
Danger creates a hybrid of his console Electro and the original’s 80’s action movie theme epicness dropping ElectroPop riffs over the track’s power chords to awesome effect. It’s been a while since we heard anything from Danger, let’s hope this is remedied soon with an EP in the works.
I get the feeling ‘In For The Kill’ is due for a rerelease. La Roux has been chatting about filming a new video for it on her Twitter feed and now we have this gem. It’s only bloody Danger reMixing La Roux init!!!
Danger and La Roux is an awesome combination, and it doesn’t disappoint. It does, however, surprise. It’s a mid-tempo, bass heavy, almost Dubsteppy in places jam that drops in bits and pieces of familiar Danger style melody. It works amazingly well and comes off as a kinda’ 80’s Dubstep track. New genre anyone?
French crazy disco duo Acid Washed get rerated to some power harpsichord work here as Danger, one of the finest Electro producers in the world, delivers a spartan (for him) electronic epic that hold off dropping the bass until the very last minute.
We gave you the low down on Danger’s next EP right here, the time is nearly upon us when the Electro-House master shows everyone just how it’s done!
He’s dropped another new little teaser video, again with the oh-so-cool 16-bit stylee graphics. I would love him to do a mini-movie in this style, maybe when (if) he releases a full length album he will!
Side Scrolling FTW!
Danger’s 3rd EP, ‘09/17 2007’, will be released on 25th January an vinyl and 1st February digitally.
The week in Bangers: While electronic rumors isn’t strictly an Electro-House blog, we do cover a lot of Electro-House that crosses over in to our realm. So many good club tunes and reMixes surface each week we can’t (and wouldn’t) cover them all, so this is a round up of some of the best from the week that we didn’t have time to dedicate individual posts to…
