The Vandroid has landed!

It’s been a while since we wrote about them here, now there’s finally some movement on the Vandroid front.

More tracks from the soundtrack to the mythical 1984 Sci-Fi action movie Vandroid have surfaced. As you might recall the first of the Vandroid tracks we heard was the Van She Tech reMix, now reMixes from Yuksek, Fred Falke, Boy 8-Bit and Siriusmo have been unearthed and put together in the form of the ‘Master And Slave’ reMixes EP..

First up, this Yuksek reMix is one of the best things I have heard all year, no question, pure Nu-Disco, ElectroPop brilliance with that slightly rough sound from his album. Using the vocals sparsely, but to rad effect Yuksek really knocks it out the park. Fred Falke’s is wicked too. Stripping the track down to an, almost Industrial, Electro Rock track. These are backed up by Boy 8-Bits’ deep Electro groove as be brings a hypnotic track with some standout distorted synth percussion and Siriusmo’s cut-up Disco take on the track.

The Vandroid project is totally exiting, not just ‘cos some of the biggest names in Electro are contributing some of their best work, but because they have made the whole thing fun, interesting and addictive. It’s a pity we’ll never actually get to see the movie!”

Dutch Disco producer Shook recently reMixed M.I.A.’s ‘Internet Connection’.

Shook brings some really nice cut-up Nu-Disco to the table as he drops awesome synth bass solos and Funk riffs. With some wicked key tinkling and nice Funk-Pop sensibilities it’s no wonder this track took The Hype Machine by storm.

Daft Punk Vs. Quorra on the game grid!

So, this is the official music video for Daft Punk’s ‘Derezzed’ from their Tron: Legacy soundtrack.

And I love it, it’s quite a nice little prequel to the movie, the style and graphics being part original Tron and part Tron: Legacy, It’s obviously set inbetween movies. The plot seems to feature Olivia Wilde’s character, Quorra, while she was still a player on the game grid.

If you’re going to make a movie tie-in video having both a nice little tie in plot and loads of homagé to the original Tron is a good way to go.

Tron: Legacy hit cinemas 17th December, not long now! Who gonna’ be there opening day?

Audionite’s ‘Don’t Make Me!’ EP

Here’s something to shake off the midweek cobwebs, some dirty Electro-House courtesy of the bros at On The Fruit Records.

Their latest offering is a new EP by Berlin based producer Audionite, ‘Don’t Make Me!’. The title track alone is a hypnotic slice of deep and heavy Electro that completely controls you. There’s a touch of 90’s techno, even a touch of the Industrial about it, as it forces all kinds of chaotic noise to conform to a funky Electro-House jam. ‘Kosmonauta’ lives up to it’s name with more of a spacey, cosmic vibe. A floating electronic respite from the in your face sounds of the rest of the EP.

Tron: Legacy projection mapping performance to Daft Punk’s soundtrack

Projection Mapping is an awesome looking technique where images are projected onto a the flat surface of a building to make it appear 3D stuff is happening.

This technique has been put to it’s full use in a 9 minute Tron: Legacy show on the side of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in London set to Daft Punk’s stunning soundtrack.

Give it a watch!

The performance was created using 6x18k projectors with audio from an 8k D&B sound rig.

Tron: Legacy hit cinemas 17th December, seems like so long to wait! Daft Punk’s soundtrack is released tomorrow!

Neon Hitch & Deadmau5

Check out this collaboration between Electro-House universal dominator Deadmau5 and Pop newbie Neon Hitch.

The brand new track is a really interesting slice of electronic Pop and manages to sound very Deadmau5 without sounding like anything he’s ever done. It’s an odd one, the groove is really commercial yet the production is trademark Deadmau5. Odd, but good.

Deadmau5 (Feat. Neon Hitch) – I Can’t Behave Myself

I reckon this will probably end up being Neon Hitch’s début single with Deadmauy5 on production credits.

Douze – We Got The Love

‘We Got The Love’ is the latest track from Frenchman Arnault Douze Esteve A.K.A. Douze.

A protégé of Kris Menace and collaborator of the one-and-only Alan Braxe, Douze creates an amazing amalgamation of French-Touch, Disco, ElectroPop and talk box Funk. This is the smoothest slice of Disco that has landed on the electronic rumors desk in a while and just when you’re getting into the groove with the body moving bassline and lush pads the track hits you with a devastating solo! Awesome stuff.

Douze’s EP, ‘Doxology’, is out 6th December on Work It Baby.

Fare Soldi reMixes Duran Duran’s Rio

Italian masters of all things crazy Italo Fare Soldi have got their funky hands on Duran Duran’s ‘Rio’. This can only end well (or badly, depending on your position).

Spotlighting the tune’s mental bassline over a 909 beat whist dropping in bits of the song over the top is the path to true Italo enlightenment. Fare Soldi always manage to keep thing fresh and he they do a spot-on job or working the retro and the contemporary into a dancefloor slaying package.

My Favorite Robot’s ‘Birthday Song’

Those Canadian meisters of Experimental ElectroPop Electronica My Favorite Robot have breathed new single into the world.

‘Birthday Song’ will take you deep deep down, everything about it seems designed to put you in a dream likes state on the dancefloor. From it’s drone organs to it’s ethereal vocals all pined down with a hypnotic sub-bass. This is serious ElectroPop/Deep House with just a touch of Acid warbling.
