Johan Agebjörn & Queen Of Hearts’ video

Johan Agebjörn & Ercola & Queen Of Hearts’ ‘The Last Day Of Summer’, we’ve listened to it quite a lot. Now, we can watch it quite a lot too! It’s only bleedin’ gone and got itself a music video ain’t it!

At some point director Stuart Hall made the correct decision to tell Misters Agebjörn and Ercola to take the day off and just to film the Queen saying goodbye to past loves in some fields. Also, there probably wasn’t room in the crew transport for Misters Agebjörn and Ercola with all the Queen’s various costume changes and you’ve got to prioritise these things properly.

‘The Last Days Of Summer’ is taken from ‘Casablanca Nights’, out now on Paper Bag Records.

Fred Falke reMixes Wolf Gang

‘The King And All Of His Men’ is the latest single, and re-release of first single, from British Indie dude Wolf Gang, it’s been given a stunning retro workout by French Touch master Fred Falke.

From the offset you can tell this mix is going to be something special, kicking off with a nice syncopated bassline and smooth 80’s-esq chords that lead into a full-on 80’s teen movie epic. Wolf Gang vocals lend themselves perfectly to this kind of Dreamwave nostalgia, his voice being just as emotive as the music.

Beaumont’s début EP

In a really fucked up coincidence it is exactly two years, to the day, that we first posted about Beaumont (well, his first solo post, if you discount a post about a Ladyhawke reMix), and it’s this day that he chooses to release his début EP!

So, what’s changed in two years? Well, we’ve seen the man develop and hone his studio skills, we’ve seen a maturing and evolution in the musicality of his work, but he’s never really strayed too far from his vision. Even in his early work you can hear hints that where he is now is where he was headed all along. The mixing up of Nu-Disco, Dreamwave and ChipTune that became Beaumont’s trademark always had a certain epicness to it that has now found a distinctive voice in his current Downtempo-Dreamwave (for want of a better description) output. ‘City Meets Soldier’ is an eight minute musical narrative that slides from mood to mood, kept in check with a solid groove. These seems to be seven distinctive parts, or chapters, to the track that each have something to say individually whilst advancing the overall arrangement. Now, I have no idea whether that’s just me reading too much into the track, but it’s pretty sophisticated songwriting and would appear to be the culmination of Beaumont’s recent interest in more atmospheric and evocative music.

It’s also pretty easy on the ears!

Beaumont (Feat. Ill Collins) – City Meets Soldier (Original Mix)

There’s four reMixes on the EP, by the likes of Shelby Gray, Farfetched Clancy and Ren Riz. The latter two take the track straight back to the dancefloor. Ren drops a slightly Acid flavoured Electro-House track, the kind that completely absorbs you on the dancefloor while Clancy seriously raised the bar with what is probably my favourite reMix on the EP that hold onto Beaumont’s epic feel and wraps it in some sweet sweet Disco.

Right, Reader, you have a choice now, and I’m trusting you as a person of integrity and taste to make the right decision. You can pick up the ‘City Meets Soldier’ EP two ways. Beaumont is giving it away, all five tracks, on his SoundCloud as 128kbps mp3s, or you can grab the whole EP in it’s full 320kbps nuanced format for a paltry $4 from Beaumont’s Bandcamp site.

You know what to do.

Meridian’s ‘Elsewhere’

Meridian’s ‘Elsewhere’ EP is the latest release on French dance label Paranoiak, and is a real stormer.

The title track is a smooth synthesizer workout with a solid Disco beat and some beautiful shimmering 80’s lead sounds. The track works as a summery Dreamwave track but the inclusion of a layer of 90’s House piano takes it to the next level. There is some serious good time vibes going on in this track, you should defiantly check it out. The rest of the EP keeps up the high quality, leaning more to the Electro-House side of things but retaining the euphoria.

As a bonus check out Karl Rose’s deep Disco reMix,

Johan Agebjörn & Queen Of Hearts

As you’ll know by now Johan Agebjörn’s ‘Casablanca Nights’ is an ElectroPop masterpiece, than man has really picked out some excellent collaborators, riding with the likes of Sally Shapiro, Le Prix, Lovelock, CFCF, Legowelt and Wolfram, just for starters.

The album was released earlier this months and if you haven’t picked it up yet maybe this will convince you? For ‘The Last Day Of Summer’ Johan has teamed up with Ercola and the UK’s next big thing Queen Of Hearts for this laid back groover. With a blissed out Nu-Disco vibe, some sweet analog synth strings and a solo that rocks this tune is prefect for…well…the last days of summer.

New Strange Talk reMixes from Vanguard and Lightwaves

We have a couple of new reMixes from Australian Indie-Electropoppers Strange Talk’s awesome self-titled EP. Both of the track ‘Eskimo Boy’

First up is an absolutely killer Nu-Disco mix from Welsh duo Vanguard. Their storming version has a ton of funk and enough thick synth work and filtering to keep anyone happy. This is probably my track for the weekend! Meanwhile, Yes Giantess frontman Jan Rosenfeld’s Lightwaves moniker turns in a sweet, soaring, Dreamwavey. Both mixes really compliment an already rad track.
