Lazerhawk reMixed by Jordan F

lazerhawk

Oh man, how can you go wrong with this? Synthwave genius Lazerhawk reMixed by one of Australia’s finest up-and-coming producers Jordan F.

Lazerhawk is gearing up to the release of his new EP on 2 Many Printers and Rosso Corsa Records and amongst the reMix talent involved Jordan F conjures up this upbeat slice of night-drive Electro. Rapid fire with a bouncy bassline Jordan, this track is seriously driven, the thing just powers on. Jordan F proved on his last EP that he’s got his game locked down, and his reMixes are doing nothing to dispel that.

Silenx’s new track

Silenx

I get excited every time I see Silenx has a new track out!

‘Long Lost Love’ is a storming track form the Portuguese synthesizer wizard and is loaded with all the best elements you’d expect from the man. A deep pulsating bassline and crystal clear leads run the highs and lows of the track leaving the rest to be filled with huge ‘80’s sounding chords. Silenx always captures an atmosphere if anticipation, a feeling in the air that something amazing is about to happen. Life would be so much better soundtracked by Silenx!

Also, cowbell.

Jowie Schulner’s ‘Emotions’

Boombar main man Jowie Schulner has dropped a new tune on SoundCloud, showing off his emotional side.

‘Emotions’ lives in the place where Dreamwave meets Jarre. Layers of synths conjure an atmospheric setting for the track and play out their story over a laid back mid-tempo beat. This is journey home music, reflection music, the bittersweet end to the movie. Jowie has a knack for bringing an intense musicality to retro synth music that shines through in this tune.

Clancy reMixes Alec Carlsson’s new single

alec carrlson

This week Alec Carlsson drops his new single for On The Fruit Records. ‘Royal Lives’ is a sweeping Nu-Disco floorfiller cock full of Disco strings and massive builds.

The reMix package includes work from Geisha Twins, The Phantom’s Revenge and The Alpha Snail. The highlight, though, is Clancy’s retro powerhouse mix. From the moment the digital bass kicks in this track is a treat., as it works it’s body shaking way around layers of sparkling arpeggios and just when your getting into the track this really sweet subtly lead jumps in after the breakdown to really lift the track to the next level.

Shelby Grey’s new album

Shelby Grey

Today sees the release of Shelby Grey’s new album, ‘The Music Is On His Side’. Released on ‘the ever-awesome Holographic People’.

It’s actually an amazingly varied body of work, if you like the sound of a synthesizer then there will be something for you contained with this records ten tracks. From the opening ‘April’s Legacy’, a sweeping electronic epic that sets the tone for an album just as occupied with conveying emotion through music as it is with making you dance. The mood lightens immediately as we get into the album proper, lifted by the tropical flavours of Chains Of Love, although this track does retain an underlying melancholy. all that is blown away, though, by the first of two collaborations with Cavaliers Of Fun’s Ricco Vitali who helps Shelby get the party started on ‘Wild Youth’. From their the LP slides through different genres and moods from the deep groove of ‘Voce D Amore’ to the atmospheric soundscapes of ‘The Dream Is Always The Same’ and ‘La Nena’ stopping by the upbeat SynthPop of the first single, ‘Echoes, Dimensions & Waves’. After keeping the energy up with the storming title track the album closes on a couple of cinematic pieces, ‘Back To Bollebygd’ and ‘Soracci’, leaving you suitably released from the big room tunes. Whatever you’re looking for, whether Jarre-esque synth compositions and something to fill your Nu-Disco dancefloor, you’re pretty much guaranteed to find it within ’The Music Is On His Side’ .

Tobtok

tobtok

Tobtok may only be 18 but he’s been throwing out some seriously good tracks.

His latest release, the ‘I’ll Never Forget You’ single, is made up of two slightly older tracks released for free on SoundCloud and is pure joy to listen to. Sitting between synthetic Disco and French Touch the lead track is a big builder with a chord progression that is total euphoria. Everything cuts through the mix on this track, from the retro synth stabs to the driving arpeggio. Quality stuff. the flip side, ‘Pressure’ brings a more Nu-Disco vibe to the table. Slick and sexy, the track is peak time beach music.

Chromatics’ track from Drive

chromatics

So, buy now you know how awesome the Drive soundtrack is, featuring the likes of Kavinsky and College alongside Cliff Martinez’ electronic score.

It also features ‘Tack Of the Clock’ from Chromatics’ excellent album ‘Night Drive’. Edited down to fit the scene by Chromatics and Johnny Jewel the track wasn’t released independent of the album. So Johnny has uploaded it to SoundCloud saying this “A lot of people have been asking about the different version they are hearing in the film. The original “Night Drive” version is around 15 minutes long. Nat Walker (Chromatics / Desire) & i reconstructed it from the original tapes in order to make it heavier in the theatres & cut it to the picture. What we didn’t know was…the soundtrack people weren’t going to let people get it individually. They are trying to rope you into buying the whole album… But all the kids really want is Desire, Kavinsky, & College… So here it is for free. Pass it on. xo johnny jewel”.
