[Audio] Viceroy reMixes Two Door Cinema Club

Two Door Cinema Club

Sun is the second single to be taken from Two Door Cinema Club’s new album Becon. Amongst those pulling reMix duties on the release is San Francisco Nu-Disco producer Viceroy. Fresh from the success of his Dream Of Bombay single with Chela, Viceroy is in the zone right now and this mix is no exception.

Delivering a more ElectroPop track than we’re used to from Viceroy, he still manages to inject the upbeat synthy tune with his trademark beach-party Disco. Bringing bright retro stabs to the mix, Viceroy give his reMix a slightly 80s vibe that mixes well with his feel-good Tropical groove. There’s nothing about this one that doesn’t make you feel good.

[Audio] Fenech-Soler’s ‘Maiyu’

Fenech_Soler

One of the UK’s best ElectroPop/Indie-electro outfits, Fenech-Soler, return this week with plans to unleash their second album later in the year and a taste of what to expect. It’s been a rough year or so for these guys, but they are back, fighting fit, and gearing up for a sold-out tour before the album drops.

Following last October’s All I Know single, this new track, Maiyu, proves why Fenech-Soler never disappoint. Kicking off with a deep Housey bassline, the track slowly builds into a rapturous, glitzy, ElectroPop anthem. Taking it’s time to switch between it’s pulsating, dirty synth bass grove and huge euphoric keys, Maiyu, takes you along for the ride as it dips and builds. Assisted by Ben;s rousing vocals and  evocative lead lines the track build toward percussion fuelled finale that is sure to see this one as a live favourite.

The video however, is terrifying. That is all.

[MP3] Strangeheart (ex-Young Digerati)

STRANGEHEART Single 1

Well, it’s official. as we speculated LA Indie-Dreamwavers Young Digerati are no more. Apparently after being dropped by Rocket Music Management (who we had dealings with are were abysmally incompetent) the guys went their separate ways. Where those ways will lead is anyone guess. Except for frontman Jeff Thompson no guesses are necessary, he’s just delivered the first tune from his new project Strangeheart.

Strangeheart’s In Another Life is pure summery Indie-Pop bliss. Balancing playful guitars with shimmering, romantic synths and a  insanely catchy lyric. Seriously, if you listen to this track three times or more it will infect your brain for the rest of the day. Taken from Strangeheart’s forthcoming début EP, In Another Life is both bouncy and fun, and emotionally authentic. Proper LA grooves. We’ll be looking forward to Strangeheart’s EP.

Strangeheart’s début EP is out soon.

[Audio] MNDR reMixed by Robotaki

MNDR

Oh, go on then, we’ll have one more reMix of MNDR’s Feed Me Diamonds. Partly because we’re big MNDR fans, partly because we’re also pretty fond on Canadian groover Robotaki. But mostly because Robotaki has done a sterling job here, the best Disco version we’ve heard.

Robotaki has got a perfect grasp of Amanda’s vocals, and the rhythm of the song, as he completely retextualises her voice but allows it to keep it’s own intention. The vocals become a big sweeping Disco top line when presented with Robotaki’s 70’s synth disco. Expect loads of rapid percussion on ringing bells. The best way to describe it is to quote Robotaki: “Totally watched an old kung-fu flicks while this was being made.” There you go.

[MP3] LIGHTS reMixed by Adam Weaver

LIGHTS

Suspension was one of the many highlights from Canadian ElectroPop goddess LIGHTS’s second album, Siberia. It’s been a while we heard anything from LIGHTS, we believer there is another acoustic EP in the offing, the hopefully a new record after that. In the meantime, here’s a reMix of Suspension that comes from Adam Weaver, who’s actually LIGHTS live synth player.

The original version is a strange and beautiful mixture of Acid Techno, EBM and LIGHTS sweet ElectroPop, and, as a song, is probably ripe for the reMixing. Weaver loads the track with an almost Balearic euphoria. Rising and falling with big Ibiza builds and a Melodic Trance flavour., Weaver delivers a classic dance mix of the track.

[MP3] Monarchy & Dita Von Teese reMixed by Mike Luck

monarchy-dita-von-tease_thumb

Now enigmatic ElectroPop duo Monarchy’s amazing, Dita Von Teese featuring, comeback single Disintegration is finally out we can have a listen to the final reMix from the package. Alongside the awesome MiGHty mOUse rendition of the song comes this version from Dutch producer Mike Luck, and it’s a free download too.

It’s got a very 2007 Van She Tech remix feel to it, and that’s no bad thing. That driving, powerful arpeggiated bassline and pounding drums give it that vibe, a sound that actually works really well with Monarchy and Dita Von Teese’s bombastic vocals. Luck’s take on Disintegration injects it with an energetic urgency, it’s one of those tracks that would kick things up a gear on the dancefloor when it drops. A big, almost aggressive track, it makes a nice contrast to MiGHty mOUse’s groovier reMix. The combination of gritty snyths and dramatic synths is always a winner.

Time to relax, kick off your shoes and dip your toes in the water, ‘cos Mitch Murder’s back with his first track of the year, and he’s about to transport you to a topical paradise where you can take it easy.

The aptly titled Breeze is one of the best nostalgic summertime tunes we’ve heard in a long while. Mitch uses every skill in his arsenal to craft a hazy, laid back groove build on rich vintage sounds. Over a steady French beat, Mitch delivers layer after layer of gentle sounds, waves of electronic emotion, to instil the mood before bringing it home with one of the best solos around. Just right for a mid-week escape.

[MP3] Mau’s ‘Cheetah’

Mau

Here’s the new track from Portuguese DreamPop outfit Mau. We last was Mau reMixing Leitbur’s Think Of Tomorrow and have been eager to hear more from this Indie-Electro five piece and they haven’t disappointed, releasing four minutes of dreamy ElectroPop goodness.

Cheetah is a rich soundscape of swirling synths and hazy vocals. A shuffling beat and haunting chords dance around the track intersected by spikey synth riffs creating an atmosphere if machine-like beauty whist an impassioned voice laments in the distance. Part Chillwave, part Dreamwave, part ElectroPop, Mau deliver top quality synthetic dreams.

[MP3] The Knocks reMix Youngblood Hawke

youngbloodhawke_thumb

We’ve featured LA Indie outfit Youngblood Hawke’s We Come Running before. It a track with more than a few reMixes out there. Now the band have decide to take charge and release a handful of mixes by some pretty big names. The reMix single holds work from Tiësto (why?) and RAC alongside this brilliantly summery track from New York Disco-meisters The Knocks.

The Knocks smother the track in their upbeat, piano driven dancefloor anthem. Taking in equal parts early 90’s piano House and dirty NYC Disco grooves, The Knocks deliver the standout reMix of this track. Their sound is just as big as the sing-a-long track itself, and the marriage of the two is a match made in heaven. This one is guaranteed to rock the dancefloor and have them with their hands in the air.
