[MP3] French Horn Rebellion’s ‘Girls’

French Horn Rebellion

Not content with leaving it at just Poster Girls, New York duo French Horn Rebellion, even the inclusionists are now releasing a tribute to all Girls. Helped along the way by JD Samson, from Le Tigre & MEN, and rapper Fat Tony, French Horn Rebellion pull out all the stops to get the party started right here.

The new single a fun, feel good, tune with a laid back, but heavy, vibe. Rocking a bassline you can’t help but move to. Punchy synth stabs rub shoulders with  fleeting strings and a rolling electric piano riff in a multi layer tune where French Horn rebellion’s vocals are complimented by Samson and a breakdown from Fat Tony. Summery  and infectious, Girls will undoubtedly put a smile on your face.

[MP3] Casio Social Club’s ‘Little Luv’

casio-social-club_thumb

Casio Social Club, the brains behind awesome London Disco label Mullet Records, has just drops his new single this week, Little Luv. Using a sweet bit of Lisa Stansfield’s vocal from Coldcut’s People Hold On, Casio Social Club whips up an amazing slice of pure soulful Electro Boogie, and one of his best tunes to date.

Little Luv is a smouldering slice of deep synth Disco. Filled to the brim with retro stabs and popping electro toms. A laid back groove with the most blissful of chiming hooks, Little Luv works the last ounce of soul out of the vocal sample, the rich pads and haunting horns to temper out an infectious bass riff that compels you to move. We generally look forward to Casio Social Clubs releases, but we feel this one is extra special.

[MP3] Zagar’s ‘Space Medusa’

Zagar

Space Medusa is the new single from ecclectic Hungarian live-electronics outfit Zagar. The eastern Europeans generally create a left-field, jazzy, mix of live electronics and real instruments, but this latest release is a little tighter, a little more electronic and a little groovier.

There’s a lot of Cosmic Disco in Space Medusa, as the name might suggest. A sprawling analog workout with a solid psychedelic groove. Hazy vocals  seem to call across a vast distance as sweeping synths rush in and out of the track. Spikey arpeggios play against a deep bass riff creating the tracks core, allowing for a seemingly freeform synth jam to erupt on top. An excellent piece of retro Sci-Fi weirdness.

[MP3] DiscoSocks’ ‘1000% Horse’

discosocks_thumb

It’s meat you can eat with no fear of surprises. London’s DiscoSocks is proudly proclaiming his latest creation to be 1000% Horse. Which means no beef whatsoever, just pure, tasty, thoroughbred Disco and crazy amounts of DiscoSocks insane slap bass skills.

1000% Horse is the prefect platform for showing off DiscoSocks bass talents, his grimy, funky as hell playing is the heart and soul of this tune. A mid-pace jam that would churn up even the most lifeless of dancefloors. A solid, cowbell infused, groove full of pop, wicked little licks and vocal snatches, gives the track a laid pack party vibe, but really, it’s all about the infectious bass. There’s even a bass solo, which is odd as I thought the whole track was a bass solo!

[MP3] €urocrats reMixed by Eliot

€urocrats

Recently Aeroplane’s own record label released it;s second single. Unite/Follow Me by €urocrats, a collaboration between Vito aeroplane and Dimitri From Paris. The single is awesome, definitely worth your attention, it sounds more DFP than Aeroplane, but that’s a good thing as we’re loving Dmitri’s recent out put, he’s ranking in our favourite producers right now. unfortunately we haven’t been able to feature the release here as AeroPop saw fit not to steam the single on SoundCloud or anywhere similar, but we can give it a nod with this awesome vocal reMix from Greece’s Eliot.

Eliot deliver a stunning take on the track to compliment his Dub version on the single. He perfectly captures the mood of the song, the late 80s orchestral stabs and horn hits, but makes the track his own. Although he keeps a lot of the track intact, the vocals, the rolling percussion, the Hooky bass, what’s really special here is the added vocals. Eliot takes a dance record, with a vocal hook, and turns it into a fully fledged song with verses and everything! The new vocals fit into the song so well, you would have thought there were part of Follow Me all along, resulting in on of the standout version of the track.

[MP3] Crystal Coast

Crystal Coast

Let us introduce you to Crystal Coast. A new project out of Tennessee and Georgia creating some lush, dreamy electronic music. Comprised of Tesha Blair, on vocals, and producer Reggie Whitehead who have got together to create some seriously luscious Chillwavey Dream Pop.

Their song Glitter, is a hazy swirl of reverb washed drums and rich synth soundscapes. A beautiful three and a half minutes, pinned down by a steady groove, the tune flutters in the breeze, waves of haunting synths ebbing and flowing in and out of the track. Coupled with Tesha’s ethereal vocals, that haunt the song, it makes for a laid back electronic experience with surprisingly funky core. Definitely an interesting début.

[MP3] Stellar Dreams’ ‘Nightvoid’

Stellar Dreams

We first featured Malaysian outfit Stellar Dreams’ brooding SynthWave epic Nightvoid mid last year. Not the track is getting a full single release via Keiz beats with a host of complimentary reMixes. Daryl and Wolf Saga step up for mix duties while the original is put in prime position as the standout of the package.

As we mentioned last time, Nightvoid is an atmospheric, evocative, retro piece. A marching post-Italo epic, multi layers with vintage synth sounds compounded into a soulful opus by Dana Jean Phoenix’s big, authentically 80s, vocals. Belgian Daryl delivers a groovy, jackin’, warehouse version of the track. The vocals in this mix are slightly pitched up. I know! Pitched up! Breaking the now tedious cliché of pitching down vocals for Chicago House track, Daryl flies in the face of convention on turns in an energetic House anthem. Wolf Saga takes a different approach, making his version of Nightvoid a deep unrelenting, SynthWave mix with powerful drums and upping the atmospherics even more. Finally, a solid release for this awesome tune.

[MP3] Oxford reMixes Felix Da Housecat & Miss Kittin

Felix Da Housecat

reMixing Felix Da Housecat and Miss Kittin’s ElectroClash classic Silver Screen (Shower Scene) is not for the faint hearted. The track springs to mind as an untouchable piece of electronic music legend. But things have moved on, and maybe it is time for someone to bring Silver Screen along with it. We’re grateful that that someone was French Nu-Disco producer Oxford, who has treated the track with the respect it deserves, but dropped a completely original five minutes of captivating Disco too.

Kitten’s deadpan vocals remain, but this time around they are riding on the sweetest of Beach Funk grooves. Perfectly produced, Oxford words every last drop of groove he’s got to deliver a rolling bassline, sweeping synths and and a laid back beat, all nicely tied together with some smooth electric piano. If asked, we would have probably advised against trying to reMix Silver Screen, but we would have been astoundingly glad Oxford didn’t heed our nonsense.

[MP3] Chrome Canyon reMixed by Chateau Marmont

Chrome Canyon

Last month we raved about Brooklyn synth magician Chrome Canyon new video for Generations which is taken from his jaw droppingly good album of last year Elemental Themes. It’s a gorgeous slice of Sci-Fi synth work that has now been given an eclectic workout by French analog adventurers Chateau Marmont. The meeting of these two yields an amazing, nostalgic, evocative synthesizer excursion.

To be released on Chrome Canyon’s forthcoming Elemental reMixes EP, which, as you can probably guess, holds some killer reMixes of tracks from Elemental Themes. Including this one. Imagine the BladeRunner melody from Generations, paired with eccentric percussion and, just a revelling in analog synths. Injecting the original with an exotic edge only highlights the culture mashing Dystopian feel to the track. The EP will also include work from Peaking Lights, Tomas Barfod, Gavin Rusom, Mike Simonetti, ATTAR!, Matthewdavid, Airbird, Eclectic Method, Saarid and Freak You

[MP3] Lovegang Presents Kathy Diamond

kathy

The mighty Lovegang out of Hamburg have lined up a sweet new single from Kathy Diamond. Kathy, also the voice of  The KDMs, sounds amazing as ever on this new track, Let There Be Love. Originally written for Lovegang Eau De Parfum, which is the smell the Lovegang dance collective smells like, I guess the tune serves up classic House sounds and a euphoric vocal.

The EP comes equipped with numerous versions, there Day and Night flipsides of the original, providing a Discoy ElectroPoppy and  Deep Chicago House versions respectively. Spanish producer Simøne’s take on the tune channels early 80s SynthPop with a toytown Disco twist and rounding out the package is French House artist Heko. Heko’s remix walks the line between groove Acid and retro Disco House. Working nostalgic synth stabs against burbling Acid lines is a unique combination, but one that works really well, providing a nice backdrop of snatches of Diamond’s vocals. An awesome package that comes pretty highly recommended.
