The Opiates’s new reMix EP

the opiates

The Opiates is the some time collaboration between our favourite Electro Diva Billie Ray Martin and Norwegian musician Robert Solheim.

The are gearing up for the release of the ‘Rainy Days And reMixes’ EP in September ahead of their first full length album ‘Hollywood Under The Knife’ later in the year. The lead track from the EP, ‘Rainy Days And Saturdays’ is a beautiful lament over nostalgia that never existed. With hints of electronic Trip-Hop and a moody synthetic atmosphere tempered by a strain of hope in Miss Martins vocals. The EP comes chock with reMixes, including Kim Ann Foxman’s take on ‘Jalousies And Jealousies’ that got support from Vito Aeroplane in his last mixtape and Industrial legends Chris & Cosey’s deep Acid SynthPop version of ‘Anatomy Of A Plastic Girl ‘/

Keenhouse’s new EP

This September Disco/Funk/ElectroPop wizard Keenhouse released a brand new EP for Sunlinxx Records.

Keenhouse’s trademark had always been raw talent when his fingers meet the keys. A musician before a producer his ear for melody and riffs shines through in the four track ‘The Summer Society’ EP.  The four tracks give us a nice variety too. From the jazzed-up Nu-Disco of the title track and laid back beach Funk of  ‘Piu Electric’ to the Acid Tropical Cosmic Disco (yes!) of ‘Lost Constellation’ and the chilled ‘Homestill’ that eases you out of the EP with sweet tunes. Keenhouse releases are always welcome, sometimes it’s just nice to have someone playing keyboards at you.

Jordan F’s ‘Definitely Miami’ EP

jordanF

Sydney Dreamwave producer Jordan F is holed up on some sun kissed beach somewhere ‘hard at work’ on his début artist album.

In the meantime he’s put together a free EP for Rosso Corsa Records featuring re-mastered version of ‘Definitely Miami’ and ‘Outrun’, which we’ve featured a while back, and a new track, ‘Cupido’. As you probably know by now, Mr. F makes some of the finest Synthwave and Nu-Disco coming out of down under and these three tracks are all prefect examples of his power drums and sparkling 80’s-esque melodies. Grab some headphones, sit back, relax and let Jordan F take to to summers of the past.

Lost Years

lost years

Coming straight out of Miami Beach, er, Sweden, Lost Years have been steadily pumping out top quality retro synth tunes for the last few months.

Their latest, ‘Regrets V3’  features a nice mix of 80’s Electro Boogie and Jan Hammer-esque synth power chords. The track has a nice progression to it, building and building towards the end, layer lush synth sounds and those all important synth toms. This track is hot in every sense of the word.

Alpha Boy’s début album.

alpha boy

German Dreamwave producer Alpha Boy is finally ready to drop his début record, ‘Electronic Feelings’.

If you search electronic rumors for ‘Alpha Boy’ you’ll find quite a few of his tracks have been featured here, we’ve been a big supporter of Norman Knight’s take on retro synth music and most of those tracks we’ve featured appear on this collection alongside a few new tunes. From the album’s opener ‘Night Thunder’ you immediately get a sense of atmosphere from the tracks, Alpha Boy manages to keep his tunes dancey but also injects an emotional resonance into his music that whisks you away to wherever the subject matter of the tune is. Drawing from Dreamwave, Italo, 80’s instrumental Pop and ChipTune, Alpha Boy is about to drop 14 tracks that anybody into backward looking but forward sounding synth music should definitely seek out.
