Plane Shepard

Oh, Germany’s Final DJs always bring us the very best sweet sweet synthesizer music. This time they have been hand picked by Kris Menace’s renowned label Work It Baby! to deliver their reMxing good on newcomer Plane Shepard’s début single.

The track’s called Play With You, and Final DJs get deep into the groove with this five minute breezy anthem. Final Djs do love their soaring leads (as do we!), and right here they put them to work, sweeping over an Electro Boogie bassline and a hint of Tropical percussion. Like a far future dance party, this mix of Play With Me delivers all the energy and emotion you’d expect from a Final DJs tune, add in a little robovox and you’ve got a huge floorfiller. just wait for the finale!

[Audio] Embryonik’s new EP

EMBRYONIK

Out today is the new EP from one of Greece’s finest exports, Electro producer Embryonik. Titled Nightflight the EP is a six track journey through a synthesized, apparent plane crash. A concept piece of work that tells a story, instrumentally, carrying the listener through optimism to tension and then finally the EP’s finale, and lead track, Heaven.

Heaven is a bright slice of Italo with a sinister undercurrent. With a classic Italo bassline and rich synth tones, Embryonik captures both an emotion and a groove in this piece. Although the track is based around an upbeat vibe and loaded with shimmering synth chimes, there is a certain air of melancholy to it. But like all the best 80s tune, and all the best Italo music, it balances the Mirrorball and the sadness perfectly.

[Audio] Justice reMixes Boys Noize

Boys Noize

Even if Boys Noize did turn in a half-hearted, pretty mediocre album last year, he still knows how to pick a reMixer. Following hot on the heels of Chromeo’s stunning reMix of What You Want come this version of the single Ich R U by the second members of the disappointing album last year committee, Justice with a track that redeems them both.

The Justice reMix of Ich R U is a grinding Electro workout that harkens back to Justice’s glory days. majestic and slowly gruelling, Justice’s mix delivers all the stuff we loves about them in the first place. Brooding, dramatic Electro-House that builds to a storming crescendo. Deep pulsating synths, hypnotic little licks, and that piercing, baroque, quality that Justice got so right on †. It’s just a pity this’ll likely be a one-off sound.

♫ Boys Noize – Ich R U (Justice reMix)

Ich R U is released, as Boysnoize Records 100th release, with reMixes from justice and The Chemical Brothers, on 18th March.

[Audio] Grafton Primary return

Grafton Primary

Well, this is an awesome mid-week surprise, we’d kinda’ given up on Grafton Primary to be honest. but they are, as you will know if you were grooving in 2008, are one of the finest Indie-Disco-ElectroPop acts around. hailing from Sydney, these guys rocked everyone in the years leading up to their 2008 Eon album, then the line when quite.

Now they’ve picked up music’s call and are gearing up for the release of their second album, the reasonably cleverly titled Neo (see what they did there?, I guess album three will be called One then?). The first hint of tune to break ground from the new album is One More Life, their new single. Released yesterday, One More Life is a massive sounding slice of Discoy ElectroPop. More mature that the bands previous work, this is a stronger, slicker Grafton Primary, and one with big enough, anthemic enough, and funky enough, tracks to take over the world.

[Audio] Ben Macklin & Yota’s ‘Controller’

ben-macklin-yota_thumb

Cassette Club’s Ben Macklin’s solo effort with Stockholm born, France residing singer Yota (Lifelike/Zoo Brazil/DLG), Controller, is finally seeing release next month. We covered the track a while back, featuring Cassette Club’s own reMix of the tune. Now, with imminent release, we get to wrap our ears around the original version in all it’s glory.

An order more laid back and dreamy than the CC mix, Controller is a blissfully smooth slice of hushed soulful Disco. Pairing Macklin’s SynthPop inspired, but groovy as hell, electronics with Yota’s smokey vocals creates a duality that is transcended by the whole. Like a chilled Robot disco that’s been invaded by an ethereal, emotional presence, Controller tames it;s synthetic nature and delivers classy urban synth grooves.

[Audio] Mirrors (no, not that one)

Mirrors

Let us introduce you to Mirrors. “But wait” you say, we already know Mirrors. Sorry, different Mirrors. This Mirrors hails from Glasgow and has a line in producing some seriously infectious House sounds that get stuck in your head and make your feet move. He’s about to release his début EP on Loungin Records to prove to the world that being able to think up an original artist name means nothing when it comes to dropping hypnotic beats.

Dip You is the kind of track you need to play again and again, once to hook has, well, hooked you in, you’ll be needing a constant fix. Taking a little from Chicago warehouses and a little from The Summer Of Love, Mirrors’ Dip You delivers a big classic House sound with a upbeat UK edge. Almost timeless in it’s sound, it’s just a pure party starter and one to get lost in on the dancefloor. The reMixes on the EP, coming from LPZ, C.O.N.E. and Wrongton & Deemas J are a bit weak in all honestly, but the original mix is worth the admission price alone.

♫ Mirrors – Dip You

Mirrors’ Dip You is released 18th March on 12”, followed by a digital release 1st April.

[Audio] Chvrches reMix St. Lucia

St. Lucia

Now, this is a bit of a treat. Two of the finest ElectroPop acts around  in a reMix sound-off.  Brooklyn SynthPop master Jean-Philip Grobler A.K.A. St. Lucia’s Before the Dive gets a beautiful, swirling abstract electro makeover by Glaswegian ElectroPop buzz factory Chvrches. That’s a meeting of minds we weren’t expecting, but we wonder where it’s been all out lives.

The result is a lush, experimental Pop tune (that’s experimental in a musical way, not experimental bashing some sheet metal and fiddling with the LFO way). Adding some of their own heavily effected vocals, Chvrches lay down a hypnotic piano hook, pounding industrial drums and layers upon layers of rich synths. This is serious genius at work!

[Audio] Goldroom & Mereki

Goldroom

Goldroom’s new jam is here and once again he’s roped in the best of the best to deliver the smoothest of sounds. Following on the cream of vocalists to grace Goldroom tracks comes the awesome Mereki, who we’ve features a few times here, to lend her dreamy west coast vibes to Only You Can Show Me.

Goldroom, who recently played his first gig with a live band, brings exactly the kind of carefree beach party Disco  sounds that have made him one of the top producers in the world right now. There’s a nice fat Synth Funk bass in the background on this one, rounding out those stardust lead lines and big pads that seem to rise from the most nostalgic part of your mind. Goldroom album in time for summer, that’s what we want, that’s all we’ve ever wanted.

[Audio] Chad Valley reMixes Ghost Beach

ghost-beach_thumb

The next in the line of  Ghost Beach reMixes comes from the producer of one of our very favourite albums of last year, Chad Valley. Chad Valley’s Young Hunger album was an absolute stormer that we had on constant rotation in the latter months of 2012, so his contribution to the Ghost Beach’s forthcoming Modern Tongues reMix EP was one we were looking forward to.

And he doesn’t disappoint. Taking the New York IndieDiscoPop Duo’s Teat Us Apart and giving it a Lo-Fi retro workout. Sparkling like stardust, the synths intertwine with each other to form an emotional, hazy, optimistic tune straight out of an 80s teen movie. Chad Valley’s take on the track replaces guitars with lush, but gentle, layers of electronic that gives the vocals a new, heartfelt lease of life. the chorus, particularly, becomes something simply epic in this version of the track. There’s still more to come, Ghost Beach’s Modern Tongues reMix EP will also feature work from the likes of Penguin Prison and Gigamesh.
