[Audio] Alex Metric & Stefan Storm’s ‘Heart Weighs A Ton’ reMixed by Cassian

alex-metric

Our friends over at Stoney Roads got themselves the killer scoop on this new reMix from Sydney House master Cassian. He’s served up a bouncy-as-hell reMix of the forthcoming new single from Mr. Alex Metric; Heart Weighs A Ton. The track, of course, features the vocal stylings of the one and only Stefan Storm from The Sound Of Arrows, which just means there is so much pedigree, and so much to like, about this track from the offset.

Cassian pulls out the springiest of rubbery basses for this one. Deep and booming yet bouncing all over the track, the bassline fires itself across razor sharp drums with Cassian grabs snatches of Stefan’s uplifting vocal and drops them here and there. Enter the piano hook to tie the track together and elevate it to a place of dancefloor madness. Time to get your head down and keep dancing.

[Audio] Hervé’s ‘Hate On Me’

herve

Hate On Me is the title track of of the new EP from Cheap Thrills label boss and UK Bass legend Hervé. Following on from last years Lion EP and a storming release with Zebra Katz on Mad Decent, the man is back with the bass on a track that combines his more recent House-y output with his booming Bass roots and delivers the best of both worlds.

It’s hard not to move to this one. Just sitting down with headphones on we’ll be nodding like crazy, we can only imagine how compelling it is in a club. Classic 909 hats and a mesmerizing subby bassline run throughout the track generating a rock solid core. There’s a cheeky sample from comedian Katt Williams that injects the tune with a playful side, but one that doesn’t deter from the hardcore floorfilling mission that Hate On Me is on.

[Audio] Blonde’s ‘I Loved You’

Blonde

This is the new single from Bristolian Pop/House duo Blonde, still riding high on the success of their Higher Ground tune. I Loved You is the apex of the R&B/Chicago House revival crossover, that is becoming more and more prevalent, in that is sounds so much like early 90s soul anyway that it ends up sounding both nostalgic and fresh. Check it out.

There’s a great Pop/Soul vocal here (riffing on Tamia’s 2004 release More), that shares the tracks limelight with a massive piano hook chorus. Clocking in at a perfect three minutes in length, this is exactly how Pop/House should sound; respectful of it’s warehouse roots but effortlessly catchy and easy enough to listen to as it is to dance to. This is upbeat, feel-good Chicago House jammage that’s hard to beat.

[Audio] Sohight & Cheevy’s ‘Shine With Me’

Sohight & Cheevy

Russian Nu-Disco duo Sohight & Cheevy have been quite the past few months, but it sounds like they have been hard at work working on new material. Not only working on new material, but cultivating a new, fuller, big band sound; as displayed on their brand new tracks, Shine With Me. This one is pretty huge.

Sohight & Cheevy sound like they are backed by a full orchestra on Shine With Me. It’s an amazingly full track, bristling with DiscoPop goodness. Cheevy’s falsetto vocals belt out over a symphony of thick synths, a powerful horn section, a hint of piano and a deep warbling bass. The track is currently unsigned, something someone needs to rectify pretty sharpish and this one could tear up the dancefloor in the right hands.

[Audio] Alan Braxe reMixes Bright Light Bright Light’s ‘An Open Heart’

bright-light-bright-light

Ever wondered what the reigning champ of British SynthPop, Bright Light Bright Light, would sound like  alongside a truck load of French Touch? Well wonder no more. It’s been an awesome year for BLx2 so far, from being main tour support worldwide for Sit Elton John, to the release of his well received sophomore album, Life Is Easy, AND featuring on electronic rumors last release! What more could the man ask for? How about French Touch pioneer Alan Braxe working his Disco magic on one of your tunes?

Mr. Braxe has had a bit of a resurgence of output int he past twelve months (and by resurgence we mean one EP and a handful of reMixes, which is relatively a lot!), and this reMix really is the pinnacle of that. BLx2’s emotional original was already a captivating and passionate Pop song, but with a healthy injection of continental Disco; courtesy of a rubbery bassline, filtered pads and a rock solid clap-a-long beat, the track takes on new floorfilling dimensions. Sparkling arpeggios jokey for attention alongside Rod’s vocals as the track neatly lifts your mood. The perfect combination.

[Audio] Rocco Raimundo reMixes Stee Downes’ ‘Caught Up’

Stee Downes

Caught Up is the forthcoming new single from Nu-Disco vocal staple Stee Downes. Dropping in the middle of next month, the single, a funky slice of live Soul, comes with a loaded reMix package; the most interesting of which is this groove monster from the man Rocco Raimundo. Unfortunately the track is only available on the digital release, not having been included in the vinyl copy, which is a shame as we would have bought the 12” in a heartbeat if this was on there.

Raimundo serves up a mesmerising concoction of Disco, Italo and Tropical influences all riding on a rock solid House beat. A chest shaking subby bassline provides star contrast to an array of shimmering lead synths and a warming Tropical percussive hook. All working together, weaving in and out of each other, to produce a lush whole, these elements create the prefect backing for Downes neo-Soul vocal. With a laid back mood, but driving groove, this reMix is a crate essential.

[Audio] Julio Bashmore’s ‘Simple Love’

Julio Bashmore

Bristol House guru Julio Bashmore’s forthcoming new album is set to drop early next year. The first single from the upcoming record will be Simple Love, a tune featuring the vocal talents of J’Danna. Premièring on Annie Mac’s show this past weekend, the tune is sure to mop up the remains of Festival season and destroy club dancefloors well into winter.

Loaded with Bashmore’s trademark booming basslines, Simple Love is an intoxicating five minutes of laid back beats and bass. Appropriately titled, the track is deceptively simple with a sparse groove and hypnotic repetition that draws you into it’s filtered goodness. J’Danna’s husky vocals adds a little spice to the mix as part of a track that never once tried too hard to be anything. It just simply is.

[Audio] Mitch Murder’s ‘Breeze’

Mitch Murder

Our vinyl copy SynthWave pioneer Mitch Murder’s new Mad Decent released album, Interceptor, has still not shown up. Apparently they’ve been delayed ‘til October now! what few quality pressing plants there are left are struggling to cope with the resurgence of interest in vinyl releases it seems. In the meantime we’ll have to console ourselves with his brand new (old) single, Breeze.

After a recent crop of vintage video game inspired tune, Breeze takes us back to a classic Mitch Murder groove. Smooth and soulful, this is a tune to soundtrack your lazy summer afternoons in a retro style. The optimistic synths and starlight chimes ooze 80s cool. After the track has has suitable time to introduce you to it’s laid back electronic vibe, it sweetly delivers a brain melting synth solo, the kind that leys were made for, and take you to the next plane of musical existence. Now…where’s that vinyl?!?!

[Audio] Cosmonaut Grechko reMixes Tesla Boy’s ‘Paraffin’

tesla-boy_thumb1

Remember how Russian ElectroPop heroes Tesla Boy’s last album, The Universe Made Of Darkness, was one of our favourite albums of 2013? Well now that amazing record is getting spiced up by all manner of reMixes in the just released The Universe Made of Darkness: Night Version. On the new album you’ll find work from he likes of Xinobi, Piorneerball and 7th Myriads. To celebrate the release the guys have dropped this reMix of Paraffin from the superb Cosmonaut Grechko.

Grechko get’s his House on in a major way. The man’s latest tunes have all been incredibly complex Chicago House jams that feel totally authentic whilst bringing the sound up to speed, and that’s what he does right here. Full of Grechko’s popping purcussion and deep, warbling bass, the track flows perfectly with Anton’s vocal and injects it with a piano hook as classic as any you’ve heard.
