[MP3] Box Of Wolves reMixes Hghclr’s ‘Ohio’

Hghclr

Canadian Chillwaver Box Of Wolves just can’t leave those Swedes alone, can he? Following his reMix of Swedish spacey electronic artist AfterParty’s Lonely Reggae, he’s turned in the sumptuous version of Stockholm based ElectroPop newcomers Hghclr’s track Ohio, from their Waves EP.

This one is all about capturing the emotion of the song with airy synths and a dusting of delay. Pinned down with a deceptively funky bassline, the track organically breathes floaty lead lines and sparking keys into a musical dream that has pin-sharp clarity. Add to the the originals ethereal lament and you’ve got a dreamy, and a touch nostalgic, sunset anthem.

Hghclr – Ohio (Box of Wolves reMix)

Hghclr’s Waves EP is out now.

She’s The Queen – Cold Heart/I Don’t Wanna Know (Single)

Following up on the runaway success of their previous single, Talk To Me, New York based ElectroPop duo She’s The Queen present their latest offering.

The double A-side single of Cold Heart & I Don’t Wanna Know sees Emily and Drew delivering upbeat sunshine SynthPop with a streak of melancholy. Drawing on everything from Dreamwave to Disco to Dubstep, She’s The Queen have produced two intricately crafted electronic hymns which, when coupled with Emily’s soulful vocals, are set to rock the summer.

Cold Heart is a cool breath of fresh air, a breezy Beach-Disco influenced Pop tune that hides a heartfelt lament, while I Don’t Wanna Know is a stadium anthem, powerful and infectious.

Expect to be hearing a lot more of both in the coming months.

About She’s The Queen
She’s The Queen are a New York based ElectroPop duo make up of Drew Kuryloski, producer extraordinaire, and songstress Emily White. After releasing their début EP last year to considerable on-line acclaim and performing live shows alongside the likes of Sky Ferreira and Simon Curtis, the duo are ready to embark on the next phase of their musical journey. Taking their catchy, accessible, Nu-Disco influenced, ElectroPop to the next level and a wider audience.
They’ve already gained recognition in the form of some of the hottest producers on the scene; Starsmith, Frankmusik, Futurecop! and Fear Of Tigers count themselves amongst She’s The Queen’s fans, but this duo have been in the studio (above Drew’s garage) writing new songs that will take listeners by storm.

[MP3] Zimmer reMixes Rod Stewart’s ‘Da’ Ya’ Think I’m Sexy?’

Rod-Stewart

Let’s send you into your weekend with something a little funky and a little fun. One of out favourite French producers, Zimmer, the master of horizontal Disco, has seen fit to deliver a stomping rework of Rod Stewart’s 1978 cheesefest Da’ Ya’ Think I’m Sexy?.

Not to sure what to say about this really, you’ll either love it or hate it. Zimmer whips up a pumping bassline and a killer beat to add to this monster. A sweet amount of Cosmic Disco synth warbling is along for the ride too, but your opinion of this track will still rest on whether you are amused by the tracks instantly recognisable riff and Stewart’s cringe-worthy vocals, or depressed by them. We definitely fall into the amused camp, put a smile of your face this weekend.

[MP3] Holmes Price’s ‘Work It Out’

Holmes Price

This is one that kept us going yesterday. It’s the new tune from Bath based producer Holmes Price, free to download and full of summer goodness. Titled Work It Out, the track is the prefect blend of sunshine breeziness and dark club mesmerism and definitely singles out Price, who’s delivered a pretty amazing string of reMixes recently, as one of the UK’s rising House stars.

Work It Out rides a big ol’ Chicago groove but feels decidedly British. Taking as much from the London club scene, and indeed a splash of LA Topical vibes too, as it does from Chicago warehouses, Work It Out, bring the best of everything to the table. Price weaves a dancefloor destroying tapestry of deep House beats and organ, airy Island melodies and swirling beach Disco sweeps with a distinctly UK use of vocal snatches. Work It Out will be the soundtrack to our weekend, and it should be yours too.

Work it out is taken from Holmes Price’s new EP, out next Monday as a free download.

[MP3] Daft Punk reMixed by a whole bunch of peeps

daft-punk

So, we’ve been a little weary of posting any of the myriad reMixes of tracks from Daft Punk’s awesome new album Random Access Memories. There’s a squillion of them out there, every producer and his dog wants in on the action, to ride the tailcoats of hype, and they run the gauntlet from ‘better than the original’ to ‘OGM just stop trying to be a musician right now’. ‘Cos there’s so many posting about them would be like opening floodgates we really haven’t got time for.

But this morning, Cassette Club’s Ben Macklin sent us his take on Doin’ It Right, it’s very good, and we got the itch to post it. So we though ‘let’s just get this done’ and get out there a round-up of what some of the reMixes that have been rockin’ us. This is the cream of the crop ladies and gentlemen. Brought to you in association with Reflex, Wolf Saga, Tommy, Shit Hot SoundSystem, Lifelike, Simøne and Roman Kouder.

[Audio] Aérotique’s ‘Schwerelos’

Aérotique

Swiss newcomer Aérotique is gearing up to release his second EP next month. With quite a classical 90s take on House music, with a hazy Balearic vibe to it, this guy is making the kinds of tunes we all saw in sunrises to all those years ago, but injecting them with a modern House groove.

The one track in particular on his new EP that stood out to us is it’s lead tune, Schwerelos. Somehow as clean and floaty as an Orbital track but with a moody Deep House hypnotic quality to it. Layers of rattling synths and a heavy bassline underpin the track letting sweeps and vocal snatches haunt its five minutes. With a serious Dub feel to it, this is outdoor in a field music, both nostalgic and current, and classic dance music.

Aérotique Schwerelos EP is out 9th August.

[Audio] Earl Grey reMixes Clique Talk’s ‘Uncomfortable’

Clique Talk

Here we have the latest slice of reMix gold from Danny Ashenden, A.K.A. Earl Grey A.K.A. one half of The C90s. Earl Grey has been serving up some of the more ecclectic synthesizer Disco in recent months and in one of his many reMixes due to see the light of day this month he tackles Chicago ElectroPop duo Clique Talk’s forthcoming single Uncomfortable.

Keeping things in a vintage SynthPop groove, Earl Grey mashes in a Dubby Disco and House foundation amongst all the piecing snyths to create something both Cosmic and down-to-earth. Dark and bass sounds playing up against dreamlike flourishes plays well with the half-diva/half-post-punk vocal style creating an all round late 70s/early 80s feel to this reMix. Not without it;s bright lead lines and energetic high points, this reMix mostly rests on it’s ability to deliver something fantastical and futuristic while keeping the dancefloor moving.
