London based Nu-Disco producer Shit Hot SoundSystem has been pumping out a truck load of awesome edits recently. Proper edits too, not reMixes titled as edits but not virtually unchanged tracks either. SHS’s edits stay true to the concept of an edit; remaining true to the original track but cutting the dead wood and enhancing what works on the dancefloor, from a DJs perspective. In this spirit his latest work, an edit of Madonna’s 1985 classic Material Girl, does the job superbly.
Material Girl has got enough powerful hook and riffs to keep any DJ happy, and Shit Hot SoundSystem uses them to their fullest. Doubling down on the bass and drums, the track rumbles along in heavy style with the bassline and chorus lead riff, both instantly recognisable, taking centre stage. There’s enough vocals in here too for the sing-a-long crowd. It’s another quality edit from Shit Hot SoundSystem and a real middle-of-your-set secret weapon.
So, we’ve been a little weary of posting any of the myriad reMixes of tracks from Daft Punk’s awesome new album Random Access Memories. There’s a squillion of them out there, every producer and his dog wants in on the action, to ride the tailcoats of hype, and they run the gauntlet from ‘better than the original’ to ‘OGM just stop trying to be a musician right now’. ‘Cos there’s so many posting about them would be like opening floodgates we really haven’t got time for.
London’s Nu-Disco rising star Shit Hot SoundSystem is gearing up for the release of a brand new EP in the coming months. Three new cuts of late night, summer fun Disco House await all who choose the Shit Hot Soundsystem road. This guys release just keep getting better and better.
The InYourLovin EP kicks off with it’s title track. InYourLovin is the epitome of Shit Hot SoundSystem. Walking the line between edit heavy Nu-Disco and the more electronics laden Dreamwave end of the genre InYourLovin rocks both sampled Disco riffs and lush retro synth work. It never feels over stuffed though, everything sits sweetly in the track and the result is dancefloor gold. 21st Century Disco. Late Night Club Night brings the synthier side of Shit Hot SoundSystem more to the fore and brings an Italo flavour to his work. A deep robotic groove with some majestic, cinematic orchestration lends the track an ominous, but hella funky, vibe. Once again, the Disco riffs and synths combine on the EPs remaining tune, Phosphenes, a breezy slice of party Nu-Disco. Phosphenes layers it’s bouncy groove with a serious vintage Italo riff which should seem out of place, but in fact fits right in the mix and makes this track something special. We’re really digging this direction for Shit Hot SoundSystem and looking forward to the EP release.

Here is the new joint from London Nu-Disco producer Shit Hot SoundSystem, and it;s so damn funky it’s just made me use the word ‘joint’. Franky that could be the whole review right there!
‘Charlotte’ carries on from where the ‘Music & Lights’ EP left off and sees Shit Hot Soundsystem bringing the good vibes to the party. Nice thick synth bass underpins everything on this track, giving a nice, almost Housey backing for the huge Disco samples and piano riffs to work their magic. Shit Hot Soundsystem is giving away the track for free, well, for the price of an email address, which is a small price to pay for this much boogie.
Nu-Disco producer Shit Hot SoundSystem has just dropped his new EP, ‘Music & Lights’, it’s four tracks of groove laden electronic goodness!
The EP kicks off with it’s lead track, ‘Gimp Disco’, a track that takes in both the Disco and the Cosmic in Cosmic Disco. Funky down to Earth riffs and hook trade blows with Sci-Fi synths. A hypnotic vibe keeps the masses in check while the track rolls out it’s undulating groove. ‘I Got Love is an old school ‘80’s Pop Moog Funk track that The Time would have been proud of with some lush synth bass and a huge vocal hook. Guaranteed to bring euphoria to the dancefloor. the EP rounds off with ‘Girls’ and ‘2getha’, two top notch Nu-Disco tunes with a summery beach style, ripe for being rocked at LA beach parties.
First off, it’s an inspired choice of track to edit, just on track choice alone SHS has already got the dancefloor in the palm of his hand, by layering the big beats and squelchy cosmic synths. Shit Hot Soundsystem brings the best bits of the original and makes the work harder than they’ve ever worked before.
