Queen Of Hearts reMixed by Ghost Beach

queen-of-hearts1

Queen Of Hearts continues the promotional juggernaut for her latest single, ‘Neon’, with this new reMix by New York Tropical Popsters  Ghost Beach. Actually, that sounds like PR hyperbole , which I kinda’ hate, so I’ll rephrase. It’s not a promotional juggernaut, it’s more like Queen Of Hearts slipping you a new reMix under the table each week and telling you “send you friends to me, I’ve got the good shit” with a wink.

Ghost Beach go all raw electronic IndiePop with the track. It’s organised chaos, a synthetic wall of sound that boarders on Shoegaze at times. With Industrial overtones held in check only be the bassline it’s a new sound for a Queen Of Hearts track and the juxtaposition between the raucous New York Indie-Electro and Liz’s silky smooth vocals makes a compelling combination. Also fresh from the Queen is this ‘The Neon Queen Mixtape’ a pretty inspired collection of many of the most interesting female artists around (and a couple of dudes). To be honest if someone asked me to make a female oriented ElectroPop mixtape I don;t think I could have come up with a better tracklist. Stick around ‘til the end, there’s a cheeky preview of a brand new Queen Of Heart’s track.

A couple of new tunes from 80s Stallone

80s Stallone

Prolific London based SynthWave artist 80s Stallone has released a couple of new track in the past week. We’ve seen an increase in output from 80s Stallone in the past few months, and each one has been a synthesizer gem. check out his new two.

‘Electric Nights’ is an awesome track, possible 80’s Stallone’s best to date, and that’s really saying something. There’s something just so involving about ‘Electric Nights’ thick layers of synths and it’s resonant, haunting lead. It’s SynthWave, optimistic style, moving slightly away from the soundtrack influenced sound into something more Poppy, more catchy, yet still just as atmospheric and mood inducing. ‘Cobretti’ see’s him back in Stallone movie mode with a driving peice of sledgehammer Italo action move score. Moody and pounding, ‘Cobretti’ sets an ominous tone tempered with a cutting lead line. With all the recent releases we get the feeling 80s Stallone is gearing up for something, fingers crosses it’s an album.

Oliver reMix Foster The People

Foster The People

L.A. Oliver themed production duo Oliver’s reMix of ‘Dont Stop’, the new single from Foster The People has been knocking around a while now, but now it has dropped through official channels the goodness is there  for all to hear.

Oliver are right up there, the double act of Oliver ‘Oligee’ Goldstein and Vaughn ‘U-Tern’ Oliver, are easily in the top tier of Dreamwave producers, and perfectly positioned to combine L.A. Dreamwave with funker Nu-Disco sounds to become the epitome of the sound. their reMix of ‘Don’t Stop’ comes hot on the hells of their amazing contribution to Punks Jump Up and Dave 1’s ‘Mr. Overtime’ single, where they stole the show mere days later they drop another Disco bomb. Liberally applying vocdocer to the vocals and a bouncy Moogy bass, Oliver take the track to big uplifting places. It’s all about the ass shaking bass and huge synth stabs. Six minutes of dancefloor gold that never wavers and keeps the energy of the Indie-Electro original.

Shit Hot Soundsystem’s ‘Charlotte’

Shit Hot Soundsystem

Here is the new joint from London Nu-Disco producer Shit Hot SoundSystem, and it;s so damn funky it’s just made me use the word ‘joint’. Franky that could be the whole review right there!

‘Charlotte’ carries on from where the ‘Music & Lights’ EP left off and sees Shit Hot Soundsystem bringing the good vibes to the party. Nice thick synth bass underpins everything on this track, giving a nice, almost Housey backing for the huge Disco samples and piano riffs to work their magic. Shit Hot Soundsystem is giving away the track for free, well, for the price of an email address, which is a small price to pay for this much boogie.

Le Prix’s ‘Cosmonova’

le prix

We feel like we’ve been waiting for this single to drop for ever! Finally sees the long awaited (around here certainly) ‘Cosmonova’, the new single from Le Prix and the first commercial release from Girlfriend Records. Girlfriend have, of course, have a good few years of supplying us with the best in Dreamwave and SynthWave for free, so let’s all show them some support as the move into this new phase.

‘Cosmonova’ is a piece of cosmic SynthWave that is pure bliss. Built around a rolling late ‘80’s House beat, it’s a ten minute journey to other galaxies. Worth of Vangelis’ more spacey work, Le Prix takes his time, building an otherworldly synthetic atmosphere. With an infection lead riff, one that will seriously stick in your head, and layers upon layers of Sci-Fi synths Le Prix has delivered what con only be described as a interplanetary SynthWave masterpiece. reMixes come from FM Attack, who turns in a killer retro synth Disco track with strong Italo overtones. It’s a beautiful, haunting dance track with a hint of Pet Shop Boys about it. The main thing to take away from this reMix is that FM Attack truly is a master at what he does and we don;t hear nearly enough from him. Meanwhile Johnatron keeps the space age riff in place and applies tit to a thick, warping, Disco groove before bring in some Acidic synth action and some late night dancefloor chaos. The ‘Cosmonova’ package was worth the wait, and a stunning entrance into the world music market for Girlfriend.

While we’re hear let’s take another look at the awesome trailer for ‘Comosnova’, apparently it was planned to be turned into a full length video, but timing constrains on animator Kilian Eng prohibited that. Even at 43 seconds though, it’s spectacular.

Le Prix’s ‘Cosmonova’ is out right now on Girlfriend Records.

Bright Light Bright Light new single, new reMix, new competition

Bright Light Bright Light

Next week sees the release of the new single from Welsh ElectroPop sensation Bright Light Bright Light. Long time readers will know we’ve been following Rod’s career since the ‘olden days’, in the last two years he’s released some of the biggest, slickest, ElectroPop tracks out there. Every one of BLx2’s tracks to date have been modern classics, each one addictively catchy, and each one increasingly indulging Rod’s love of all things ‘90’s.

And ‘Waiting For The Feeling’ revels in it’s retro-ness. From it’s Darude-esque bass riff to the big Piano House riff, that could have come straight off MTV Europe circa 1994, it’s a celebration of the ‘90’s. A celebration of classic songwriting too, Rod’s vocal chops and his ability to write perfect Pop hook both shine through in the single, you’ll be humming it for days. Bright Light Bright Light’s love of the ‘90’s culminates in the reMix package for ‘Waiting For The Feeling’, it’s like a collection of all the names you found in the reMix credits on singles in the back then, I didn’t even know these people were still alive! K Klass put in an appearance. K Klass! Apparently they are still around and knocking out pretty awesome reMixes from the sound of their deep, almost tribal mix. And Trouser Enthusiasts! His reMix, which we are exclusively premièring below, is his first in a decade. Trouser Enthusiasts work for the likes of Sunscreem (Particularly), Saint Etienne and Pet Shop Boys we’re big parts of my life during that period, it really is awesome that Rod got him back in the studio to work on this. He’s lost none of his his flair, the mix is actually pretty ‘Trouser Enthusiasts’ (if that makes sense) but, despite being heavily ‘90’s sounding, really doesn’t sound dated. Massive and majestic, this reMix hopefully sees a return to production for Trouser Enthusiasts. A single this catchy will surely get Bright Light Bright Light the attention he deserves so much.

iamamiwhoami’s ‘Idle Talk’ video

‘Idle Talk’ is the lasted video from Scandinavian electronic ice-queen iamamiwhoami.

In true iamamiwhoami style the video (kinda’) carries on from the last, ‘In Due Order’. The track is a much smoother side to iamamiwhoami, nice spacey ScaniPop.

The ‘Good Worker’, ‘Drops’ and ‘Server’ singles are out now.

Nyteowl ‘Love Of Mine’ video

We had a listen to the MiGHty mOUse reMix of  Nyteowl’s forthcoming new single ‘Love of Mine’ loast month. the single has been pushed back to the end of April, so that give us a chance to check out the new video for the track.

Directed by Erin Michelle Vassilopoulos and Raechel Bosch and it’s generally pretty unsettling. Luckily that is soothed by the sweet analog DiscoPop of the track. With reMixes from Boy 8-Bit, Brassica and Hyboid as well it should be an awesome release.

Nyteowl ‘Love Of Mine’ is released 30th April on Juno’s new label, Love Interest

Figure Of 8 reMixes Gráinne Holland

Grainne Holland

I’m not actually sure if Dermot McGowan sleeps. the man you know better as Figure Of 8 is like a song-writing machine. Since the release of the Belfast based producer’s acclaimed ‘No One Cries For Me’ EP he given us new material practically weekly. What’s even more unbelievable, though, is that it has all been awesome.

And he;s not breaking that run just yet. his latest reMix is a beautiful peice of work. Gráinne Holland is a fellow Belfast resident and Gaelic singer-songwriter. Gaelic has always been a language that lends itself well to music and the combination of her ethereal vocals in ‘Báta An tSíl’ and Figure Of 8’s smooth electronica is a winner. The end result has something quite ‘90’s about it, a bit of an Orbital flavour, but with Figure Of 8’s modern DancePop twist. The majestic quality of the vocals is enhanced when Dermot bring in some huge cinematic chords whist gritting things up with some distorted Acid lines. Another rad mix from Figure Of 8, who seems to have a knack of thinking outside the box, oh and not sleeping.
