Moustache Machine reMixes Billy Idol

billy_idol1

It appears to be a day of ‘80’s reMixes!

I approached this reMix of Billy Idol’s ‘White Wedding’ with some caution, this could have been a total cheese-fest. Thankfully Moustache Machine never stoops that low, what he does instead is give us an awesome ElectroPop version of the track. Cold digital sounds lend the track and extra air of tension that builds until the fat distorted Electro synths join the party. It all works surprisingly, and wonderfully well with Mr. Idols instantly recognisable vocal.

Wet Wet Wet reMixed by Nico Les Tuyaux

wet-wet-wet

Well, this is just weird and wonderful. ‘80’s Soulful Popsters Wet Wet Wet’s ‘East Of The River’ (no, not ‘Sweet Little Mystery’) given a complete Nu-Disco workout by Nico Les Tuyaux.

Adding Disco strings, thick analog bass and some slick French Touch filter action to a Wet Wet Wet track doesn’t, at first glance, seem like the most natural thing to do, but this young Parisian producer brings it all together and makes it work. Insane, but infectious.

Monsieur Adi’s latest Madonna reMix

madonna

Now, with all pretence of being a trilogy Monsieur Adi’s fifth Madonna reMix has landed to wow us once more.

What can we say about Adi’s mixes that we haven’t already said? The man’s skill as a Nu-Disco producer with a perfect ear for the dancefloor coupled with his flair for the orchestral is a combination that wins ever single time. The way he keeps the groove while adding all the drama and emotion for the most rousing movie score amazes us every time. It’s no different with this reMix of ‘Beautiful Stranger’, the track is led by a robust horn section and swelling strings that only around the four minute mark are complimented but the beat kicking in, but this just adds to the anticipation, and when the beat does drop, along with a shift in the strings, it’s powerful stuff.

Quinten 909 & Mayhem’s ‘Work It Out’

quinten909

Not stopping for breath after his appearance on Millennium Disco Volume 2, Quinten 909 teams up with Mayhem to drop a bran new single on GrooveTraxx.

‘Work It Out’ breaks out that most wonderful of inventions, the talk box, to add some Chromeo-esque Funk to their Disco mix. All the elements are present and correct, from the Moogy sliding bassline to the twisting synth solo this is some top ElectroFunkPop. Amongst the reMixes on the single, Xinobi makes his mark in his usual raw Disco way. Showing of his multi-instrumentalist skills drops a slice of live Disco, rocking everything from bass to added vocals.

digitalfoxglove’s new-old track

artworks-000012510522-72qf3g-crop

digitalfoxglove’s been in a nostalgic and whimsical mood.

He asked me if he put this track on SoundCloud would I blog it, I said ‘if it’s good then yeah’, so he did, so I am. Does anyone remember ‘The Great Giana Sisters’? Of course you do! On the Commodore 64, Amiga and Atari ST, they were like the Mario Brothers, but with tits, and a massive lawsuit from Nintendo. Well, this is DGF’s tribute to the Giana Sisters and one of his very early productions. It’s pretty epic though, full of soaring SID riffs, chainsaw synths and a hint of Daft Punk.

Chris Malinchak’s new EP

chrismalinchak1

This week just gone French Express released the new EP fro NYC Nu-Disco wizard Chris Malinchak.

His second release for French Express, the ‘Vilette’ EP is three tracks of synthesized Disco goodness. The lead track ‘No Secrets’ is a soulful, late night jam. Smooth, laid back DiscoPop at it’s finest with vocals courtesy of Damon C. Scott. this the flourishes and attention to detail that really make Malinchak’s productions stand out, the retro ‘80’s sound is complemented with little touches like the tribal percussion fills that give the track a bit of a unique feel. Also featuring on the EP is ‘Accolade’, first aired on The Magician’s ‘Magic Tape 14’ mixtape. This tune is pure summer nights and good times, lush synths densely layered complimented with feel good chimes for the prefect party mood.

T&K’s ‘On Your Hands’ video

Here’s the video for T&K’s ‘On Your Hands’, we checked out their album earlier in the week and were pretty damn impressed.

The clip was directed by monsieurFrancois from the animations of Akinori Oishi, the whole thing is pretty damn cute, if a little surreal.

T&K’s album is out 24th October on On The Fruit Records, until then check them out on SoundCloud.

Mjolnir reMixed by Camara

Mjolnir

Fresh out of  being part of yesterday’s amazing Shiny Disco Club release, Millennium Disco Volume 2, Indonesian ElectroPop crew Mjolnir have dropped us Brazilian producer Camara’s reMix of ‘Just A Boy’.

We featured ‘Just A Boy’ in our first ever post on Mjolnir way back when and we loved it’s ‘80’s epicness. Camara bring a deep House groove to the table with a nice ‘90’s piano line to break-up the rolling bassline. The reMix works well with the retro vocals and gives a whole new perspective on the track.
