[MP3] DiscoSocks’ ‘Lifetime’

DiscoSocks

Just in-case your Disco wasn’t rockin’ you hard enough, London’s DiscoSocks is back with another driving slab of groove to keep you moving. Hot on the heels of his last single, Motivation (out now on MofoHiFi’s sister label Heavy Disco) this new tune takes no dancefloor prisoners

This is Lifetime, and this is guaranteed to get you dancing, or your money back. But wait, Heavy Disco are giving this massive tune away for free, it’s a win.win situation. DiscoSock’s bassline work, arguably where the man excels, rolls underneath a duvet of thick stabs and messed up vocal snatches, keeping a loose Funk and the track in check. With a pitch perfect Disco breakdown and build, dancefloor mayhem will ensue.

DiscoSocks – Lifetime

DiscoSocks’ Motivationsingle is out now.

[News] Popular Computer releases retrospective album

Popular Computer

Awesome synthetic Nu-Disco producer Popular Computer has just released a retrospective album that collects his work from between 2004-2007.

Filling the gap between LiTE, Popular Computer’s album of earlier this year, and a new record he’s planning for 2013, this release, titled First Level, brings to gather his work from Fine Records to Kitsuné Music. Of course, it is a new album, so these tracks sit alongside one or two previously unreleased tracks from that period. And, yes, I Can’t Forget You in included. We’re looking forward to Popular Computer’s new album quite a lot, but until then, this’ll do.

[Audio] Eumig & Chinon reMix Viceroy

Viceroy

Last week we previewed for you the new tune from San Francisco’s Viceroy and New York Disco Pop outfit Ghost Beach, While We’re In Love. Now check out one of the reMixes from the just release single package. This one comes from Danish Dreamwavers Eumig & Chinon.

It;s actually been a fair amount of time since we heard from these guys, it must be coming up to a year since they released anything,. We though they dropped of the map, but we’re pleased to discover they haven’t, and are still rockin’ just as hard as ever. If this is a comeback reMix, they comeback hard. Laying heavy Daft Punk-esque vocoders, chainsaw Disco synths and a juggernaut slap bass groove. All complementing Ghost House’s anthemic vocal to from a huge, peak time, Electro-Disco monster that is guaranteed to destroy dancefloors wherever it drops. A very welcome back to Eumig & Chinon.

[Video] Good Night Keaton’s ‘Next To Mexico’

So, you know by now that Good Night Keaton is Miami Horror drummer Aaron Shanahan’s solo Disco project. After a handful of awesome reMixes here he is with his début single, Next To Mexico, featuring LA future Pop star Mereki.

The video is directed by Jake Gibson and sets the Tropical sounds to suitably beachy visuals, followed by suitably Mexican visuals.

Next To Mexico is out now on Chookie with reMixes from MiGHty mOUse, Yolanda Be Cool and Neighbour.

[Video] Punks Jump Up, Dubka and Saint Saviour’s ‘Feels Good’

Punks Jump Up, Martin Dubka and Saint Saviour’s Feels Good is definitely a strong contender for one of the tunes of the year. Insanely funk DiscoPop that has now gone and got itself a video.

Andrew Barone and Davide Caselli put together this clip with a couple of familiar faces and a couple of familiar locations. Mucking around in Dalston basically.

Feels Good is out now.

[MP3] Alfa reMixes DCup

DCup

It’s another of Binary boy Alfa few and far between tracks. A tune that serves as a reminder why we’d love to hear more from this guy. This time his LA funk is applied to DCup’s recent single, I’m Corrupt. Watch Alfa get breezy, beach party, all over this tune.

Showing exactly why the Binary crew are still the kings of Dreamwave, Alfa take the funkier end of the genre and hits the ground running with a body moving digital bass and squelchy Moogs strait out of a 70s Funk record. Slick, buzzing synths and a little Disco lick underpin the kiddy vocals of the original and the whole thing end up great fun. Pure good times Nu-Disco with that particular LA groove. Oi, Alfa! More please!

[MP3] Plastic Plates reMixes The Presets

The Presets

This is easily the best reMix of the new material from Australia’s kings of ElectroPop The Presets so far. Coming from one of our favourite producers Plastic Plates, this reMix follows his recent trend of reworking single from Aussie Indie-Electro acts and this time he really gets to 100% spot-on.

The track, Plastic Plates’ reMix of The Preset’s forthcoming now single, Promises, strikes a nice balance between synthetic Nu-Disco and 80s SynthPop. it’s got a solid Disco groove that builds into nice big-room sound, but pairs this with some really interesting synth flourishes. There’s a percussion style arpeggio that has got more than a little of a Yazoo vibe to it, couple that with Julian Hamilton’s dry vocal wit and you’ve got a track with classic dancefloor appeal but a deep retro soul. Great Job all round. You can download the MP3 for free at the link below, and be sure to check out The Preset’s new album, Pacifica, it’s pretty stunning.

[Video] Keenhouse’s ‘Can’t Sleep Since’

Keenhouse’s new album, Four Dreams’ is still getting a lot of play round these parts. It’s pretty much an electronic masterpiece. One of the tracks from it, Can’t Sleep Since, is now presented in cyber-psychedelic video form.

Produced by Keenhouse himself, the clip is a nice early 90s style CG freak out.

Keenhouse’s Four Dreams album is out now.
