[Audio] Worship’s new EP

Worship

Out this week on ‘the ever-awesome Holographic People’ is the long awaited new EP from Swiss SynthWaver Worship. His first release since last September’s Horizon reMixes, this new EP represents a new batch of original tunes, which is what we want from Worship really. So expect a ton of cosmic, otherworldly, synth boogie journeys and Worship guides us through the whopping seven tracks of his new release.

The Close Encounter EP begins it’s mighty quest with the track of the same name, an arpeggio fuelled modern Italo tune that really launches the EP with a full-on energy vibe. Bright sounds and a groove that takes us back to the resurgence of melodic Electro a few years ago, Close Encounter really sets up the EP. Island Disco sounds infiltrate the EP on the following track, Alpha Centauri, working the rhythm alongside lush Tropical sounds. Orion Forever is a reworking of last years Forever Orion with added big buzzy synths and a tempo supercharge. Definitely one of the EPs highlights with a really infectious groove. First Light gives the EP a smooth, laid back SynthWave mid-point before launching into Last Words, a rich, melodic, excursion into fantastical synthetic places. A place where music for your mind, and music for your feet, meet and you get lost in the swirl of synths. The EP rounds out with the pretty standard Nu-Disco Odyssey and a Cosmic Disco workout of Orion Forever from Auxiliary Tha Masterfader. Close Encounter is a release loaded with space-age Disco sound, and one could do a lot worst than pick up.

[MP3] Little Boots reMixed by Cosmic Kids

little_boots

Hot on the heels of the storming release of her sophomore album Nocturnes, the queen of ElectroPop Little Boots has snuck out this funky little reMix of the album’s preceding single Broken Record. Not on the official release, this rework comes from LA duo Cosmic Kids.

Cosmic Kids bring a little Tropical flavour and dreamy, laid back, LA Disco vibe to the track. Never veering to far into full on poolside Disco thought, The duo keep things pretty Housey, with a burbling Acid bassline and pumping beat. Cavernous synths swirl around the track, weaving themselves in and out of ghostly vocal snatches, while the overall moody groove is offset with bright, shimmering chimes. Lush, spaces Disco/House sounds right here.

[Audio] Hemingway’s ‘Ace Neptune’

Hemingway

In Nu-Disco circles the début release from Toronto’s Hemingway could be considered quite long awaited. The guy’s built up quite a reputation for himself over the past year or so with a string of excellent reMixes. Now his première release is out, via Brilliantine, and having had it on rotation round electronic rumors HQ for the past couple of weeks we can definitely say it’s lived up to it’s promise.

Ace Neptune is the name of Hemingway’s single, and it’s a veritable Smörgåsbord of dreamy synthesizer Funk. There’s something interestingly proggy about Ace Neptune, there’s a definitely Cosmic vibe to it and you can imagine Hemingway surrounded by tiers of analog snyths, eyes tightly shut, generally having a synth freak out. The track takes elements from Nu-Disco, Dreamwave, SynthWave and Italo and constructs an epic built upon layer and layers of intertwining melodies and warping Galactic Funk basslines. Deceptively complex, this is a true synth Disco fan’s track. reMixes come correct from Jokers Of The Scene and this gem from Cyclist, who ups the Funk quota and leads the track from the space-station to an under-lit dancefloor to boogie the night away. Frantic Disco licks and slinky synths are the order of the day in this mix. Ace Neptune is a confident and impressive début, and one that should have Hemingway’s name on people lips.

[Audio] L’Étranger’s ‘Don’t Ever Change’ EP

L'Étranger

This week UK boogiemeister L’Étranger released his new EP, Don’t Ever Change. Released on his own new label, Thomorrow, Don’t Ever Change packs in four tracks of blissful House that follow on from his acclaimed La Bombe single, 1997, of last year.

Now Or Never kicks of proceedings in the EP, a warm, bouncy, warehouse track that sets the scene as we’re treated to thick synth bass, choppy vocal snatches and a hint of a Tropical vibe in the purcussion. Got To Know is an awesome, organ led, 90s House workout. All 909 hats and hypnotic hooks with a burbling Acidic backing, Got To Know delivers the prefect party groove, just the right side of Deep, it’s an undulating tune to loose yourself in. The 90s good time sounds continue into Please, the EP’s energetic high point. Layering a reverby House piano over the already compelling Chicago sounds gives the track swirling drive that leads to a full-on dancefloor monster. The EP plays out on Ask, a short Hip Hop beat fuelled outro that rounds off a solid, floorfiling collection of tunes. You should check it out.

[Audio] Yuksek & Oh Land reMixed by La Félix

yuksek_thumb

We’ve got another reMix of Yuksek’s incredibly infectious new single, the Oh Land featuring Last Of Our Kinds, right here. Last Of Our Kinds is the lead track on Yuksek’s forthcoming new EP, Partyfine EP#1, out on Monday on Yuksek’s own new Partyfine imprint. This reMix by the mysterious La Félix isn’t featured on the EP, but provides a nice little Disco excursion on the version. Hat tip to Jakob at Disco Demons for turning us on to this one.

Last Of Our Kinds is a big, epic ElectroPop tune with a 60s twist and a cinematic chorus, La Félix effortlessly morphs it into a lazy summer Disco tune whist keeping all the original’s dramatic flair. Mixing the majestic piano with a warbling Disco bassline, La Félix crafts a solid, funky, backing with a  lush French Touch vibe, complete with a baroque synth line and chirpy strings. It’s actually a lot better than on or two of the reMixes on the single, it’s great to see what other people are doing with this sweeping vocal.

[MP3] Gigamesh and Sunless ‘97 reMix Crystal Fighters

Crystal Fighters

Gigamesh has done it again. The Minneapolis based producer has dropped another driving slice of Synth Disco in the form of his reMix for Crystal Fighters new single, ‘You & I’. The reMix sits alongside a brooding cut from London ElectroPoppers Sunless ’97, reMixing the track taken from Crystal Fighters forthcoming new LP Cave Rave.

Gigamesh whips the track up into an arpeggio driven funky frenzy as he mixes up Italo and Disco with flair. Keeping the energy levels high, Gigamesh weaves a SynthWave style night drive tune full of punchy snyths and up beat stabs which, when coupled with Crystal Fighters vocal grown, takes on a slightly EBM, slant, but obviously with loads more groove. Sunless ‘97 go in totally the opposite direction with their version, crafting an ambient, absorbing, soundscape for the track. Utilising Dub techniques and quirky synths sounds, Sunless ‘97 deliver a track that is the night to Gigamesh’s day.
