Overthrill

Overthrill probably isn’t a new name to many readers of electronic rumors. Having dropped some awesome EPs (and killer Mixtapes) in the last couple of years, German producer Sebastian Bentler joins the dots between the Valerie crew’s melodic, smooth Dreamwave sound and the Ed Banger posse’s Noisy French Electro.

And the point in the middle of those dots is pretty epic!

One a duo, now solo, Sebastian is pretty prolific when it comes to releases, with four EPs and a handful of singles under his belt in the last few years (Sebastian handles all the artwork too) and more in the pipeline Overthrill have somehow managed to consistently knock out banger after banger. Pleasing both the blogs and the clubs.

Overthrill’s most recent EP, ‘The Upper Worlds’ is a prime example of their head on collision between Disco and Distorted Electro, funky and in-your-face at the same time.

Overthrill (Feat. Miss Wonder) – The Upper Worlds

His recent track takes the same road with hard Electro beats and sweet Disco vocal snatches

This is how bangers should be made!

Moonchild

Moonchild is a producer from Sydney, Australia who is beginning to make waves in the Nu-Disco scene there.

Having spend years writing Hardcore and Punk tunes, Antoine “Moonchildatronique” Lubidineuse joined the ranks of the glitterball masses and turned his attention to Disco-House. And the world is a better place for it to. His début release, ‘Girls’, is a deep and funky synth Disco epic that gives France’s Filter-house output a run for it’s money.

¡borracho! reMixes AXXE’s ‘Hard Candy’

¡borracho! have just dropped their long awaited reMix of Canadian ElectroPoppers AXXE’s ‘Hard Candy’  over on their SoundCloud.

We really dig both ¡borracho! and AXXE here so the pairing has gagging for a listen ever since the guys hinted at it. It’s a rolling, pretty chilled, piano driven Electro-House tune that turns AXXE’s Noise-Pop into something altogether smoother.

Also, killer Simmons drum fills!

♫ AXXE – Hard Candy (¡borracho! reMixx)

The reMix single is out soon on Rural Route Records Inc.

Columbus’ ‘Love Machine’ video by The Crystal Beach

It’s not often that the director of a music video, rather than the artist, contacts electronic rumors but I’m pretty glad Alex Dückminor A.K.A. The Crystal Beach did!

The 25 year old director/designer created this awesome clip for the title track of German DiscoPop act Columbus’ ‘Love Machine’ EP as part of his MA in Moving Image. Taking more than 8 months to complete the video is a synthesizer Sci-Fi extravaganza that is both funny and cool. The track is pretty rockin’ too!

Columbus’ ‘Love Machine’ EP is out not on Estrela.

Voltage

Riot In Belgium’s ‘La Musique’ was one of my top tunes of 2007, it’s an amazing party track, and we have much love for Cut Copy, obviously. So the idea of RIB’s Joel Dickson and Dan Whitford of CC working together fill us with musical joy.

The end result is Voltage, and they’ve just released their début single, ‘All Night’. With more bounce to the ounce, the Moog heavy space Disco assaults you with an infectious bassline and stargazing vocals, with covering fire from electro toms and handclaps flying left and right. This is the kinda’ thing Buck Rodgers should have been dancing to in to 80’s!

The party starts right here:

Visitor’s début single B-side

visitor

One of the brightest ElectroPop hopes for the coming year, Visitor, stopped by the electronic rumors inbox last night to drop off the B-side to their forthcoming (and pretty eagerly anticipated) début single ‘Los Feeling’.

Defiantly a band to get exited about, Visitor have enlisted one of our favourite producers Diamond Cut to cover mixing board duties and with the already blog smashing Alan Braxe reMix the single is looking likely to take the Electro world by storm. ‘Love (Club Edit)’, the B-Side, is a slick as hell slice of electronic dance Pop that dips and soars in all the right place and could, frankly, sustain a single all of it’s own.

Visitor – Love (Club Edit)

‘Los Feeling’ drops 21stJune on Vulture Records, until then check out their MySpace for more music.

Right, I’m kicking off this post with a confession. you remember the hiatus we had for a few months last year? Well, we receive literally hundreds of items of promotional music weekly, and during that period a whole lot got overlooked, ignored or even binned. I didn’t even know if the site was coming back at the time. I didn’t have the time to work on the site at all, let alone give everything we receive a fair listen.

Some things fell through the cracks, and for that I am truly sorry.

Why the sudden remorse? Well, this past weekend I was lucky enough to catch live one of the acts who’s emails were buried in the inbox build-up around that time. They are called :kinema: and they blew me away!

There’s a whole lot of upcoming ElectroPop acts from the UK, amazing talents who are embracing the Dreamwave sound and applying it to British SynthPop, but who’s got our smooth and soulful Electro-Funk-Pop base covered? :kinema: have, and they could easily go toe-to-toe with Chromeo!

Already drawing comparisons to the likes of Hot Chip and Phoenix, this Brighton band has been nurturing their sound since 2007 and last year dropped their début EP, ‘Circles’ Amongst the reMixes of the title track was this one by Soul Jazz man Secondo who’s Housey rework injects an deep early 90’s warehouse bassline into the track.

:kinema: – Circles (Secondo Vocal reMix)

Michal Jackson tribute ‘White Socks For Dancin’’ is pure Disco-Pop awesomeness with more than a small nod to mid 80’s Electro/Pop/Soul.

:kinema: – White Socks For Dancin’

:kinema: have just released a brand new single titled ‘Recreation’ which is backed with their cover of Animal collective’s ‘My’ Girl’, check their website, http://kinema.co.uk/, for the lowdown.

Also, check their recent collaboration with Swedish producer Beem:

Beaumont gets his hands on Groove Armada’s ‘I Won’t Kneel’

GrooveArmada03

Alrighty synth fans! I hope you all had a good weekend, mine was made that little bit better by coming home to find a new email from Australia’s best kept secret, Beaumont, pimping out his new reMix.

Taking on ‘I Won’t Kneel’ by Groove Armada, featuring the vocals of SaintSaviour, Beaumont continues to go from strength to strength, his skills as a reMixer and produces seem to be growing with every new mix. His musical confidence too, which shines though in this complex, yet funky as hell, reMix.

Miami Horror’s ‘Moon Theory’ video

Yesterday the excellent Melbourne based SynthPop/Dreamwave act Miami Horror unleashed their new video for the track ‘Moon Theory’.

It’s a chilled groove full of interesting synth sounds with a video produced by Pharm productions that features some kind of space cowboy and, er, other stuff…

The single will come with a reMix package from the likes of Punks Jump Up, Baby Monster, Yacht and this one from Sam La More:

FM Attack’s new EP

FMAttack

Today saw the release of Vancouver’s finest Space-Disco export FM Attack’s new EP, ‘Astrowave’, picking up the cosmic synth journey where last years album ‘Deamatic’ left off.

‘Old Skool Daze’, from the EP, is a vocoder laden synthesizer epic that takes in influences from B-Boy Electro, Moroder-esq Electro Disco and the synthesizer skills of the likes of Jean Michele-Jarre. It’s exactly how I like my Nu-Disco, intricate, layered and musical but with a heavy beat, the vocoders are just the icing on the cake.
