Retro/Grade’s ‘Reset’ video

Double act Retro/Grade (A.K.A. Serge Santiago and Tom Neville) are releasing their new single ‘Reset’ next month on Deconstruction.

It’s a big hands-in-the-air Italo/Nu-Disco crossover track that takes the beat, squelchy basslines and structure of Italo and throws in some soaring Nu-Disco leads for good measure.

Check the pumped up performance video complimented by some badass early 90’s CGI!

‘Reset’ is out 21st March.

Jungle Fiction reMix Cassette Culture

Awesome Icelandic Nu-Disco gang Jungle Fiction are back with this epic reMix of Cassette Culture’s ‘ Once We Had An Empire’.

Cassette Culture is the solo project of Tom Lowe from Indie band Kyte and here the Jungle Fiction trio bring both the melodies of Dreamwave and the buzzsaw synths of hard Electro create what seems to be the Nu-Disco equivalent of 80s hair metal, which is rad as fuck! The Fiction are defiantly up there with Kavinsky and Danger and should be kept an eye on.

:kinema:’s new EP

Ahh, that’s better.

Brighton’s peddlers of the smoothest of smooth Electro DiscoPop :kinema: have a new EP forthcoming. The ‘’My Beautiful Machines’ EP drops in a weeks time is an exercise in pure dancefloor grooves and slick romance to produce a sound that we seem to be sorely lacking in producing in the UK. Luckily :kinema: take up the slack for the rest of our isle. ‘I Love Your Beam’ is a perfect example of their sense of humour too and their Disco-for-lovers vibe.

Seriously, next time your with a girl (or guy), stick on :kinema:…and then thank them by picking up ‘My Beautiful Machines’.

:kinema: – I Love Your Beam

The EP is out 14th February on Hot Pockets and also features reMixes from Drop Out Orchestra & Simon Peter

Classic Brothers reMixed by Rimer London

We’re quite the fans of Rimer London (Le Le’s Rimeroni Vumani) here at electronic rumors towers.

His latest work is a reMix of dance duo Classic Brothers’ ‘Munchies’ which is amazing in that way Vumani is able to produce Disco tunes that sound like the inner working of an overload computer form the future. Analog and electronic, Rimmer London’s music is Nu-Disco from an alternate dimension where traditional instruments were never invented. This is pure, and awesome, computer Disco!

Diamond Cut take Cullen to new heights

OK, this is something pretty special. Well, it’s a Diamond Cut reMix so it’s bound to be!

It’s a reMix of Cullen’s new single, ‘Crazy Enough’. We’ve featured Cullen before, he’s a kinda’ BedroomPop act from Down Under who has dropped some nice tunes in the past. Fellow Aussies Diamond Cut work their magic on his new single  and what emerges is a huge, sweeping, 80’s sounding, DiscoPop track. Subtle guitar licks echo hauntingly in the background while Cullen’s impassioned vocals and DC’s soaring synth lines power the track on and on.

Great stuff!

Tesla Boy’s ‘Rebecca’ drops today

From today you can pick yourself up the new EP by Russia ElectroPop kings Tesla Boy on Mullet Records.

Over the past two years tesla Boy have shown themselves to be right at the top of the Dreamwave sounding ElectroPop game and last years ‘Modern Thrills’ was one of our  top 20 albums of the 2010.

Taken from that album, ‘Rebecca’ is a fantastic choice of a single and perfectly showcases Tesla Boy’s emotional take on Nu-Disco.

Check the video:

The ‘Rebecca’ EP is out right now as a Juno exclusive and hits other retailers 7th February.

Starsmith reMixes Gypsy And The Cat

A few weeks ago ElectroPop producer extraordinaire Starsmith did a streaming video studio chat thing. While most of the airtime seemed to be Fin realising it was a bad idea ‘cos he was trying to get on with some work while the internet was shouting at him, the actual track he was working on was very interesting. It was a reMix of Gypsy And The Cat, now quite old, track ‘Jona Vark’. And here it is!

The appearance of this mix and rumors of some other pretty cool reMixers seems to confirm the track is getting a re-release, with this mix at the forefront this tune could go huge. Starsmith walks the line between ElectroPopping up the actual song and getting some deep Moog Disco going. There is so much going on in this song that is really is a credit to Starsmith’s mixing skills that it all sits together so well.

Gypsy And The Cat – Jona Vark (Starsmith reMix)

No idea when the ‘Jona Vark’ single is out but it’s still available on Gypsy And The Cat’s album ‘Gilgamesh’

Toro Y Moi gets reMixed by Fiero

The Fiero boys are back and more 80s than ever!

With a bassline that’s got more bounce than a rubber ball and some synth horns straight from a mid 80s episodes of Top Of The Pops their reMix of Chillwave dude Toro Y Moi’s ‘Still Sound’ is like a dream of the decade of FM synthesis. It’s like dry ice and flashing neon in audio form. But this isn’t some cheesy 80s pastiche I’m chatting about here, this doesn’t try to sound retro at all, it just does, aided all the more by the wailing guitar into that leads into  a B-Boy beat and some shimmering soul synths.

Is it wrong to thing Toro Y Moi should always sound like this?

Toro Y Moi – Still Sound (Fiero reMix)

Y’know, those horns are one step away from orchestral stabs, and someone needs to bring orchestral stabs back right now!

‘Still Sound’ is taken from Toro Y Moi’s album ‘Underneath The Pine’

Cinnamon Chasers new album, ‘Science’

Cinnamon Chasers released his second full length album, ‘Science’ this week and I know It’s only January but I guarantee that this record will be in my top 20 of 2011!

I loved CC’s last album but this one really ups the ante. Smooth beats, Disco basslines and sweeping, epic, tracks is what this album is all about. Throughout the nine tracks heartfelt vocals and shifting vocoders intertwine with soaring synth leads to power the tunes along. Like the best Dreamwave with a slightly UK House vibe. As soon as the year gets warmer comes this is going to be my go to CD of those summer nights. Check the opening track, ‘Rocker’, it’ll leave you wanting more!”

‘Science’ is out now, and as far as electronic rumors is concerned it is not only recommended, but essential!

Druma Kina

Druma Kina is the musical alter-ego of producer Simonski, from São Paulo, Brazil, who has just teamed up with new label Teenage Gang Records to drop his latest EP.

The sample heavy Disco found of the EP is complimented by an amazing collection of reMixers. The lead track on the EP ‘Walking Away’ is a funky, cut-up Nu-Disco jam with layer upon layer of Disco samples and some sweet, soulful, vocals supplied by Shell Heaven Lee. The awesome Cosmonaut Grechko take it to the next level with a Dreamwave reMix that blends seamlessly with the original track and will leave you wanting more. Cavaliers Of Fun drop their brand of quirky DiscoPop with their take on the song which evolves into an epic call and response Electro tune with added vocals and Sci-Fi solos.
