[Audio] Du Tonc’s ‘Darkness’

Du Tonc

We’ve been waiting on this on for a while now, ever since London Disco guru MiGHty mOUse hinted he was working with Van She’s resident bassist and solo ElectroPopper Matt Van Schie. The result is finally here, premièred on The Magician’s Magic Tape this month, this is Du Tonc’s Darkness.

Darkness isn’t nearly as ominous as it’s name suggests, if fact it’s a pretty playful mixture between intelligent cosmic Disco and Indie-Pop. You may think that moody 80s Indie track, and a slightly Tropical flavoured Nu-Disco tune would make strange bedfellows, but in Darkness’ case the two sit together perfectly. Neither aspect of the song’s character overwhelming the other. A strange juxtaposition between the introverted and extroverted, that results in an insanely catchy sing-a-long chorus and a rolling dancefloor groove. We can easily see Du Tonc producing some of the more intelligent Disco tunes in the coming year.

[MP3] Monarchy & Dita Von Teese reMixed by MiGHty mOUse

Monarchy & Dita Von Tease

It;s been a while since we heard from one of the best ElectroPop act to emerge in the last few years. About a year in fact, but Monarchy have been holed up in the studio and are ready to start unleashing new material. The first new single from the duo is the recently announced collaboration with goth muse Dita Von Teese titled Disintegration, and the guys have just dropped a reMix of the track by none other than London Disco wizard  MiGHty mOUse.

If you were looking for some low-down synthetic Funk topped with a dramatic vocal, you’ve come to the right place. MiGHty mOUse get back to his squelchy Disco roots with an energetic, infectious bassline, twisting little riffs and some vintage strings, bringing a whole new level of 70s flair to the vocals. Seriously, this reMix is so addictive we defy anyone not to start nodding their head at least, the prefect combination of Disco, Funk and Monarchy’s ElectroPop. The track is a guaranteed dancefloor rocker and just us just a little insight into what’s to come from Monarchy.

[Audio] MiGHty mOUse reMixes Seasfire

Seasfire

The latest lucky crew to be gifted by the reMix talent of the mighty MiGHty mOUse is none other than rowdy Bristol Indie-Electro outfit Seasfire. They’ve got a new EP incoming on Cheap Thrills so it seems fitting that the Mouse gets his hands on the track, and new MiGHty mOUse reMixes are always good news for us.

MiGHty mOUse brings it bouncy this time with an upbeat Electro mix that isn’t quite as cosmic as his Cosmic Disco work and isn’t quite as Housy as his House tunes. but would just sit nicely into any Electro-Disco set. Oh, don’t worry, MiGHty mOUse’s spaced-out synth groove is still present and correct, only this time around it’s paired with a absolutely infectious bassline that will worm it;s way into your head and feet. The reverb washed vocal track from Seasfire’s original seems to suit the track well, complimenting, rather than overpowering, the tune.

[Audio] MiGHty mOUse reMixes Good Night Keaton

Good Night Keaton

Well, it’s shaping up to be a Good Night Keaton and Mereki themed week! The Miami horror drummer’s début solo single is out now, and one of the highlights of the reMix package comes from   a slick Disco-House rework from London’s MiGHty mOUse. Prepare for some spaced-out floorfiling grooves.

MiGHty mOUse is really carving out a nice, unique, niche for himself amongst the flood of Disco and House sounds. Folding Cosmic Disco’s textures and his Disco past into a Housier sound MiGHty mOUse brings the best of all worlds. On this reMix of Next To Mexico MM combines a pumping dancefloor beat with a burbling, almost Italo, bassline and layers of hazy, Sci-Fi atmospherics. He then uses this meeting of styles to build a classic, pretty deep, House track on, working deftly with Mereki’s vocal. The end result is a real treat, a tune both kickin’ and musically interesting. It’s ready for the floor.

Punks Jump Up X Martin Dubka X Saint Saviour X MiGHty mOUse

Punks Jump Up

When we preview the Moonlight Matters reMix of Punks Jump Up and Martin Dubka‘s Saint Saviour featuring Feels Good a couple of weeks ago we also sang the praised of both the original and a storming mix from MiGHty mOUse. Now the single has been released, via Kitsuné Music, get your ears round a couple of the best tracks around right now.

Feels Good is a definite contender for one of the freshest synth leads of the year.  It’s should be understated just how good the lead is in this tune, catchy, soaring and pretty emotionally resonant. It’s the track’s ‘killer app’ which, when used in conjunction with a pounding House beat, a Moroder-esque Disco bassline and layers upon layers of cosmic synth work, provides the prefect partner for Saint Saviour’s Sci-Fi vocals. Truly epic stuff. Space-age retro Disco at it’s finest, with just a hint of a House vibe. MiGHty mOUse’s turn at the helm humanises the robo Disco somewhat. London’s Disco don delivers an organic Disco-House cut that is pretty irresistible. With an infectious piano hook, deep Housey bass and body moving percussion, anyone not compelled to dance to this tune is probably not human.

MiGHty mOUse reMixes Madonna

Madonna

We’ve been waiting for this one ever since MiGHty mOUse hinted about it on Twitter last week. The man has turned his not inconsiderable talent to reworking Madonna’s 1984 classic Like A Virgin. Remix Madonna’s 80s output tends to be a bit hit or miss, but we’ve had high hopes for MM’s take on the track, and we haven’t been disappointed.

What we are treated to is an upbeat slice of cosmic House. MiGHty mOUse works this staccato electric piano riff throughout the track that really is the tunes core. Playing off the bassline, this hook brings a total party vibe, with a hint of 90s nostalgia, and seems to work perfectly with Madge’s vocals. the track itself follows MiGHty mOUse’s evolution from spacey Disco into something a bit more Housey and complex, there’s a blissed out synth bridge about two thirds along that you could get lost in.  Drop this on unexciting revellers and watch it tear up the dancefloor. I think I’ve found a replacement for MiGHty mOUse’s Kate Bush reMix!

MiGHty mOUse reMixes Future Unlimited

future-unlimited

We do love a bit of Nashville ElectroPop duo Future Unlimited ‘round these parts. Particularly their track Golden, which, having graced these pages more than once, is one of our tunes of the year so far. So imagine our excitement then, when, from out of no-where, our favourite London cosmic Disco peddler MiGHty mOUse drops this massive new reMix of the tune. There may have been a “get in!” fist pump.

MiGHty mOUse’s take on the track is dancefloor gold. Mixing up a little Tropical percussion with some Sci-Fi synths and House piano kinda’ covers all the basses, and as he covers all the bases, he does it with style and flair. You can always tell a MiGHty mOUse tune over most Nu-Disco productions. Aside from the obvious studio skill, there’s a lot more going on in an MM track than you’d normally find, a lot more eclectic elements too. MiGHty mOUse seems to write what feels right, rather than what the scene demands, and whereas most producers would claim a similar notion, MM’s track always feel refreshing. Take this tune, there’s actually quite a Dubby sound going on in the background, a few echoes, deep basses, that give it another unique twist, along with an infectious as hell percussive lead line. MiGHty mOUse’s intelligent Disco in combination with Golden’s anthemic vocals works even better than we’d hoped.
