Ditt Inre’s début EP

Ditt Inre

The worlds most interesting label, Cascine, always send us the best things, the most surprising too. They have a knack of putting some of the most talented acts in the world out of nowhere and making you go “Wow, where the fuck did this come from?”. The latest being Swedish outfit Ditt Inre whose music is beautiful and haunting with a splash of classic ElectroPop.

The Scandinavian duo are gearing up for the release of their début EP, ‘En Värld I Brand’, released later this month. It’s a six track collection of beautiful snowy landscapes make audio. Atmospheric and shot through with a strain of melancholy, but never tipping over into the downright depressing. These are optimistic songs, with an understated euphoria to be found witching the complex rhythms and lush synths (disclaimer: I don’t speak Sweedish, so they could be singing about Flying Monkeys™ for all my ignorant head knows, these suppositions are based on musical feeling alone). Whilst the whole EP is a stunning journey across tundral soundscapes that manages to be both icy and so warm at the same time the standout has to be ‘Månljus (Saknad)’, which coincidentally is the track Cascine has chosen to promo with. It’s a truly awe inspiring peice of ScaniPop. At once foreign and familiar, at once a lament and uplifting ‘Månljus (Saknad)’ has the ability to transport you to a more dreamlike, more romantic place.

Ditt Inre’s ‘En Värld I Brand’ is released 29th May on Cascine.

Bluebell

Bluebell

Bluebell are a London based duo who loads of different Pop influences into a big old musical mixing pot and come up with a ElectroIndieBedroomPop epics that seriously grow on you. They are releasing their début double A-Side single next month.

Of the two tracks ‘Normal Heights’ is the more impressive, seeming to swing from intimate, introspective Pop to giant, majestic, aria with ease. Verses laden with subtle synths and and the gentle lament of the vocal flow naturally into the tribal bombast and impassioned cries of the chorus. That;s not to say the flip side, ‘Cinderella’ is lacking, if fact it’s probably the better bet for a hit between the two, it;s relentless synthetic chugging grind juxtaposed with Annabel Jones’ fragile, and incredibly catchy, lyrics make for a compelling combination. ‘Normal Heights’ and ‘Cinderella’ make an impressive début, and one that’s bound to see Bluebell getting a lot more attention.

Shook reMixes Capital Cities

capital-cities

LA Indie-Dreamwave duo Capital Cities have become a bit of a mainstay here on electronic rumors in the last couple of years. We covered their latest single ‘Kangaroo Court’ back in March but now the EP is out it;s time to check out a reMix from one of the most musically talented Nu-Disco producers working today. Shook.

Shook channels all his ability into capturing the Funky side of Capital Cities home town. this is a huge slick of pure LA Funk and the Dutch producer works it like he was a native. this kind of pure groove is Shook at his best, it’s where his musicality is allows to shine though and it’s the reason people are lining up to work with him. The original’s upbeat Indie-Disco is reined in and told to ‘chill the fuck out’ resulting in some amazing, slick, west cost vibes. Thick Moogy basses and twisting Disco licks are the order of the day here.

‘Kangaroo Court’ is released this week on Lazy Hooks.

New Young Pony Club’s new video

I love it when new releases from bands you like creep up on you. Here’s the video for the forthcoming new single from Indie-Electro champions New Young Pony Club, I didn’t even know they had a forthcoming new single!

The clip for ‘You Used To Be A Man’ is directed by Laura Buckley and is as abstract as the electronic beats. The track show a more subtle, eclectic side to NYPC. We’re liking it!

‘You Used To Be A Man’ is released 7th May.

Yuksek reMixes Gold Fields

gold fields

Australian Indie-Electro outfit Gold Fields sure know how to pick their reMixers. First G.L.O.V.E.S., now French baroque Disco maestro Yuksek takes on their track ‘Moves’.

‘Moves’ is actually a relatively old track, dating back to September last year, with Yuksek dropping his reMix first on his awesome Triple J Radio Mixtape from November. Now it has surfaced in it’s entirety we can have a full listen to that beginning section that sees Yuksek channelling his best Jean Michel-Jarre thought multiple layers of thick, but shrill, synths and echoing pads, before dropping the full on French Disco flavour.

Tubetops’ Warmer Still’ video

Do you like dogs? It seems Brooklyn based funky Indie-Electro troupe Tubetops do, as evidenced in their new video.

It’s for ’Warmer Still’ the title track of their new EP, a collection of four garage ElectroPop tunes with a nice chilled vibe and a quirky attitude. Oh yeah, and dogs.

Queen Of Hearts reMixed by Ghost Beach

queen-of-hearts1

Queen Of Hearts continues the promotional juggernaut for her latest single, ‘Neon’, with this new reMix by New York Tropical Popsters  Ghost Beach. Actually, that sounds like PR hyperbole , which I kinda’ hate, so I’ll rephrase. It’s not a promotional juggernaut, it’s more like Queen Of Hearts slipping you a new reMix under the table each week and telling you “send you friends to me, I’ve got the good shit” with a wink.

Ghost Beach go all raw electronic IndiePop with the track. It’s organised chaos, a synthetic wall of sound that boarders on Shoegaze at times. With Industrial overtones held in check only be the bassline it’s a new sound for a Queen Of Hearts track and the juxtaposition between the raucous New York Indie-Electro and Liz’s silky smooth vocals makes a compelling combination. Also fresh from the Queen is this ‘The Neon Queen Mixtape’ a pretty inspired collection of many of the most interesting female artists around (and a couple of dudes). To be honest if someone asked me to make a female oriented ElectroPop mixtape I don;t think I could have come up with a better tracklist. Stick around ‘til the end, there’s a cheeky preview of a brand new Queen Of Heart’s track.

Nyteowl ‘Love Of Mine’ video

We had a listen to the MiGHty mOUse reMix of  Nyteowl’s forthcoming new single ‘Love of Mine’ loast month. the single has been pushed back to the end of April, so that give us a chance to check out the new video for the track.

Directed by Erin Michelle Vassilopoulos and Raechel Bosch and it’s generally pretty unsettling. Luckily that is soothed by the sweet analog DiscoPop of the track. With reMixes from Boy 8-Bit, Brassica and Hyboid as well it should be an awesome release.

Nyteowl ‘Love Of Mine’ is released 30th April on Juno’s new label, Love Interest

Pégase’s ‘The Bad Side Of Love’ video

We haven’t written about Pégase since way back in 2009! Pégase is, of course, the side project of Raphaël, the lead singer of the utterly amazing Minitel Rose. Both of which we have heard far to little from in recent years. Better later than never though, as Pégase releases his début (really?) EP.

Here’s the video for ‘The Bad Side Of Love’ the lead track on the ‘Without Reasons’ EP, directed by Nicolas Davenel. The EP contains reMixes from Giraffage, Les Et Les Garcons, Ruckazoid &  Equateur and is a welcome return from one of the founding fathers of Dreamwave.

The ‘Without Reasons’ EP is out now.

Claude Violante’s début EP

ClaudeViolante

I don’t use the word ‘Numnaoid’ much, but be warned, somewhere in this post the word ‘Numandoid’ will come into play. That’s because we’re going to be talking about Claude Violante (one half of analog avant-garde DiscoPop duo Haussmann) and her début solo EP. The record retains the vintage Disco of her other output but adds a raw, and sometimes ethereal, quality to her music.

The lead track on her self-titled EP, ‘For You’, sets the tone perfectly. With an Numandoid backbeat reminiscant of Tubeway Army coupled with a late ‘80’s pre-Shoegaze-y vocal style. Icy synths are lent an air of humanity through the live feel of the track, back up with real drumming and Claude’s 4AD voice. Of course, throughout all of this, and through the whole EP, there is that subtle Frenchness you associate with Parisian Indie-Electro bands. A slight eclecticness is present even when presenting a more dance oriented from, both ‘You Way and ‘Generation’ borrow a lot from classic Italo, Claude’s experimental side shines though. Funky grooves, melodic vintage synths, beautiful songs and a musical playfulness. You don’t need any more than that really. Definitely an EP worth checking out.
