[MP3] Rüfüs’ new single

Rüfüs

Australian Indie-ElectroPoppers Rüfüs are back with out first taste of what to expect from their forthcoming début album. The trios new record will be titled Atlas and is due out later this year. Our glimpse of the futures comes in the form of new single Take Me. The single comes with a packed reMix package featuring Cassain and AdaptOrDie.

Take Me sees Rüfüs ever further going down a Tropical Pop route. Upbeat Island percussion and chiming synths envelope this gentle, but catchy tune. The prefect tune for lazy summer nights. Fellow Aussie Cassain Houses things up a ton with a dark growling bass and atmospheric keys made all the more epic with an occasional haunting piano hook. The original’s breezy vocals take on a new smokey quality in this mix. AdaptOrDie a new project with a strong pedigree. When you consist of half of The Swiss and Empire Of The Sun’s backing band you know things are going to be a bit special. Their take on the track is a deep warehouse tune, a nice mix of Chicago sounds and European club music heritage. It’s a really nice package you could do worse that invest in.

[Video] Chvrches’ ‘Recover’

The UK’s ElectroPop saviours Chvrches’ new single, Recover, also sees their first proper music video, and what a music video it is.

A Sci-Fi epic, fitting for a SynthPop song, particularly one so majestic, the clip has hints of 2001, BladeRunner, and a lot of mysterious cubes. Amazing stuff.

Chvrches’ Recover is out now.

[Video] Kate Boy’s ‘In Your Eyes’

Swedish moody ElectroPop newcomers Kate Boy’s In Your Eyes finally gets the video treatment. It’s one of the breakout synth tracks of the year so far and seeing the clip adds a whole new dimension to the track.

It’s a classy, stripped down, clip produced and directed by Kate Boy themselves.

[Video] Glass Candy’s ‘The Possessed’

We posted Glass Candy’s new tune, The Possessed, a few days ago, being another tease of what to expect from Italians Do It Better’s forthcoming After Dark 2 compilation. Now here’s the video.

Directed, once again, by Alberto Rossini, features more footage in grainy video style. His old 8mm style works so well with Glass Candy’s music.

After Dark 2 will be out soon, with tracks from Glass Candy, Mirage, Desire, Farah, Twisted Wires, Appaloosa, Symmetry, and Chromatics.

[Audio] Grafton Primary return

Grafton Primary

Well, this is an awesome mid-week surprise, we’d kinda’ given up on Grafton Primary to be honest. but they are, as you will know if you were grooving in 2008, are one of the finest Indie-Disco-ElectroPop acts around. hailing from Sydney, these guys rocked everyone in the years leading up to their 2008 Eon album, then the line when quite.

Now they’ve picked up music’s call and are gearing up for the release of their second album, the reasonably cleverly titled Neo (see what they did there?, I guess album three will be called One then?). The first hint of tune to break ground from the new album is One More Life, their new single. Released yesterday, One More Life is a massive sounding slice of Discoy ElectroPop. More mature that the bands previous work, this is a stronger, slicker Grafton Primary, and one with big enough, anthemic enough, and funky enough, tracks to take over the world.

[Audio] Ben Macklin & Yota’s ‘Controller’

ben-macklin-yota_thumb

Cassette Club’s Ben Macklin’s solo effort with Stockholm born, France residing singer Yota (Lifelike/Zoo Brazil/DLG), Controller, is finally seeing release next month. We covered the track a while back, featuring Cassette Club’s own reMix of the tune. Now, with imminent release, we get to wrap our ears around the original version in all it’s glory.

An order more laid back and dreamy than the CC mix, Controller is a blissfully smooth slice of hushed soulful Disco. Pairing Macklin’s SynthPop inspired, but groovy as hell, electronics with Yota’s smokey vocals creates a duality that is transcended by the whole. Like a chilled Robot disco that’s been invaded by an ethereal, emotional presence, Controller tames it;s synthetic nature and delivers classy urban synth grooves.

[MP3] Hey Champ’s ‘Comet’

heychamp2013

One of Chicago’s finest exports, Indie-Electro-Disco-Pop guys Hey Champ, have dropped a brand new tune. One of the finest bands of their kind around, releases from these guys are too few and far between. their new track, Comet, follows on from January’s Cliché, which, hopefully, points toward a new album soon.

Featuring additional vocals from BeuKes, Comet rolls out with a raw, earnest, synth bass set amongst flying arpeggios and a slick Disco beat. Retro future boogie loaded with thick sounds and a really nice play-off between BeuKes innocent voice and Hey Champ’s more gritty Disco call-to-action. Comet is a strong contender for a summer anthem title, a big sing-a-long chorus, smooth Disco grooves, what more do you want in hot summer nights?

Goin’ Old School isn’t a trip down music memory lane, it’s a mugging in the dark alleyway of nostalgia:

[MP3] Futurecop!’s new single

Futurecop!

Later this month, the UK’s SynthWave champions Futurecop! release their brand new single. A precursor to their forthcoming album, Hopes, Dreams & Alienation, the single features vocal work from Ricco Vitali from Cavaliers Of Fun and a whole host of reMix talent, including the likes of Lifelike and Stellar Dreams.

Atlantic 1997 is pure Futurecop!. Long time live favourite, the track us an uplifting rush of nostalgic synthesizer power. Waves of rich synths compliment the steady Italo Disco groove and produce the a dreamy 80s soundtrack. the disco swing of the track, combined with Vitali’s anthemic, and catchy, vocal gives the track a holiday sheen. It’s all carefree good times. French Disco underdogs Uppermost turn in a huge  and involving reMix of the track, wrapping it in lush, reverby, French Touch with a grinding synth bass. Polish outfit P.A.F.F. also deliver the goods with their reMix. their Hipstercop version rings out like an Indie-Electro summer anthem, complete with infectious chiming melody and big chorus. It;s an excellent single package and one that bodes well for the album.
