[Download] Diamond Cut reMixes Thief’s ‘Broken Boy’

Thief

The mastermind and music genius that is Diamond Cut is back this week with one of his amazing, but increasingly rare, reMixes. Lucky for us, he’s got to grips with Australian SynthPopper Thief’s Broken Boy, a tune we introduced you to back in October. Diamond Cut embraces the track’s introspective Kraftwerk-y-ness and works a little of his retro Electro magic with the song.

Dusting off the pulsating, robotic synths for this one, Diamond Cut’s Manic Computer reMix is appropriately titled, encompassing all manner of electronic shudders and blips. Thief’s vocals still work wonderfully with the music, slightly modulated they sound a little otherworldly set against the synthesizer’s shimmering retro soundtrack. Diamond Cut always delivers the very best, and often surprising, tracks. This tune is no different.

[Audio] Fear Of Tigers reMixes Lightwaves’ ‘Starting To Believe’

lightwaves

Earlier this week we gushed about the surprise new tune from the awesome Lightwaves, Starting To Believe. Well, it just gets better. Not only is the song a massive EelctroPop monster that is destined to put the newly band-ed Lightwaves on the map (finally!) but here comes a reMix from the one and only Fear Of Tigers. Can it get any better?

Fear Of Tigers goes large with this one. Recognising and enhancing the anthemic qualities of the original, Fear Of Tigers up the drama with massive chainsaw synth riffs and juggernaut drums. Set for peak time in the big room, this one compels you to move yourself, and even suggest a little hands-in-the-air might be appropriate. Powerful and pumping, this is about as huge as ElectroPop can get without bursting at the seams. With a hint of a retro groove in the sweeping chords, easing in an undercurrent of nostalgia, this is one reMix that won’t be ignored.

[Audio] St. Lucia’s ‘All Eyes On You’ reMixed by Goldroom

st-lucia_thumb_thumb

Here’s a meeting of two of Americas finest purveyors of blissful tunes. New Yorks hazy ElectroPop sensation, St. Lucia released one of the albums of the year in 2013, and on that album was a little track called All Eyes On You. A tack which looks set to be his next single if the looks of this brand new reMix from the-man-with-the-Dreamwave-plan Goldroom is to be believed.

There’s some devilish purcussion going on in this one. Goldroom tune just make you want to get up and dance (if it’s sunny, if it’s not the make you want to close your eyes and pretend you’re dancing in the sun), and that’s heightened with the drums on this reMix. Embracing St. Lucia’s dreamy ElectroPop sound, Goldroom delivers a floaty Beach House tune to get carried away in. We weren’t going to mention the Sax, we were going to just let you discover it. But the sax!

[Download] I Am Snow Angel’s ‘Let Me Go’ & ‘Grey White December’

I Am Snow Angel

We weren’t sure if I Am Snow Angel was called I Am Snow Angel, or whether it was just Snow Angel and the ‘I Am’; was added because all the Snow Angel usernames were taken. But apparently it is I AM Snow Angel, which has actually got a nice ring to it. Julie Kathryn is a New York based SynthPop artist with a sweet line in dreamy electronic sounds and is gearing up for the February release of her début EP. Check out two of the releases tracks right now.

Let Me Go  is a swirling embrace of calming synthesizer sounds and one of the most interesting voices we’ve come across this year. Kathryn’s distinct voice conveys both a fragility and a deep passion as she half lilts, half growls her way through the song. Pulsating arpeggios and haunting keys form the undercurrent of the track, which carries and almost ScaniPop flavour, making what would be a gentle, ethereal track suitable for the dancefloor. Grey White December delivers more of the same, but with a husky soul to the vocals and a Chillwave feel to the beat heavy, smokey music. I Am Snow Angel is definitely one to keep an eye on in 2014.

[Audio] Walter Sobcek’s ‘No Blue Skies’

Walter Sobcek

New tracks from French duo Walter Sobcek are too few and far between, but always something special when they arrive. We’ve been following these guys since day one and reckon 2014 should be the year Walter Sobcek get the recognition the deserve. This new tune is a cover of Lloyd Cole’s No Blue Skies. slip into some comfortable Dreamwave vibes.

With a hefty dose of blissed out sounds, Walter Sobcek glide their way through the track. Coasting on sweet retro synths and a walking bassline. Swooshing chords pair with gentle plucked guitar to cosy up to some restrained vocals and a hint of vocoder in a track that curls out of the speakers like smoke. The guys arte in the process of finishing up their début album, which includes collaborations with the likes of Lifelike and Mereki, we can’t wait.

Here’s the video for Chlöe Howl’s energetic song Rumour. It’s actually not the first video for the track, but we guess someone smart at her label though the track was deserving of a second, bigger budget, outing. We agree.

The video has a chess tournament in it. We’re sure that means something but we’re not sure what. It looks awesome though.

[Download] A.N.D.Y. reMixes Anna Lunoe’s ‘Breathe’

Anna Lunoe

Ready for something bassy and boomy? Here’s Belgian electronic Maestro A.N.D.Y.’s reMix of Anna Lunoe recent single Breathe. A.N.D.Y.’s giving the track away as he’s got a lot to celebrate. Being signed to Sony Music, handled by Live Nation and a string of festival appearances added up to a killer 2013 for the man. He’s particularly Belgian reMix is the perfect way to end the year.

Kicking off with a early Electro beat, loaded with B-Boy vibes, the track soon charges head first into the realms of mid-80s Belgian EBM. Clanging Industrial percussion and, metallic, sampled riffs conjure up a back-clad stomp which you would thing contrasted with the tracks House roots, or the the big piano House breakdowns in the reMix, but it really doesn’t. Add a sprinkling of Acidic burbling and you’ve got a melting pot of electronic awesome.

[Audio] Lightwaves’ ‘Starting To Believe’

Lightwaves

It looks like one of our favourite producers, Lightwaves, is finally ready to hit the big time. Lightwaves music has come in dips over the past couple of years, including a reMix of She’s The Queen’s Talk To Me, electronic rumors first single release. The ex-Yes Giantess man Jan Rosenfeld is back, this time with a full band, has launched a brand new single, a new fuller ElectroPop sound, and what promised to be the start of a stratospheric career.

It;s really Jan’s vocals that push this over the edge from being infection, euphoric ElectroPop into the realms of true anthem. The meeting of huge, emotive, synth riffs, epic, impassioned vocals and a driving rhythm section make this one of those songs that delivers an emotional rush as well as making you want to get up out of your seat. American, post Indie-Electro, SynthPop at it’s finest.
