[MP3] Final DJs’ ‘Feel Your Breath’

final-djs_thumb_thumb_thumb

Another new single from Final DJs?!?!? They just don’t quit do they? Whenever Germany’s finest release a new tune it;s always a guessing game as to whether it’ll be SynthWave Final DJs or Nu-Disco Final DJs, whether it’ll be sweeping cinematic synths or groovy Tropical riffs. This new tune, Feel Your Breath, featured on the We Re-Created Disco, is a little of both, but leaning toward mirrorballed dancefloors.

Before we talk about the rest of the song, we just have to mention the insane, emotional, spine-tingling breakdown in this tune. A shuffling, rich, build with gentle vocal tones that is prefect for winding up excitement on the floor. Feel Your Breath itself is pure Final DJs’ epicness. A bouncy bassline is set off with soaring synth solos that take you on a journey throughout the track. One of this duos finest to date, Feel Your Breath is every bit for your mind and your ears as it is for your feet. The complete package.

[MP3] Night Drive (+ Bit Funk reMix)

Night Drive

OK, so you know how the whole driving imagery in SynthWave has been done to death, especially night driving. There’s a real backlash against it brewing. Anoraak released Nightdrive With You back in 2008 and every permutation of ‘driving’ and ‘night driving’ has been covered and copies and played out in the years since, the originality of it dies a death a long time ago. With that in mind, Night Drive is a truly terrible name for a retro synth act. However, please don’t let that put you off checking out the début single from Night Drive, as the name belies some truly awesome music.

Name aside, these guys are doing everything right. The look good (finally, a SynthWave act who understands the need for promo photos!), their artwork is cool without being clichéd and they can play live. Oh, and their début single, Drones, is pretty amazing. Mashing up SynthWave, Indie-Electro and ElectroPop in a head on collision, Drones is a high octane four minutes that immediately draws you in with a powering Italo bassline and rich vintage synths. With a catchy vocal, this is definitely one that’ll be stuck in your head all day. reMixes on the single come from Crystal Vision,Glasnost and this monster from Bit Funk who takes the energetic ElectroPop of the original and works it into a smooth, synthetic Disco tune that keeps the effortless cool of the original but leads it by the hand to some slinky dancefloor. Definitely a recommended release.

[MP3] Poolside’s ‘If We Make It’

Poolside

Here’s some sunkist summer vibes for your weekend courtesy of LA Dreamwavers Poolside. The duo are in the process of finishing up their second album, the follow up last year’s awesome Pacific Standard Time and If We Make It is to be out first taste, and the first single, from the new record. It also features on the forthcoming Scion A/V compilation Scion 10 Series Music Release.

If We Make It is sunshine bliss in a track. Sprinkled with a hint of nostalgia, the track floats along on a cloud of fluffy synths and airy vocals. No quite as Disco as previous offerings from this pair, If We Make It is more introspective, more dreamy and doesn’t suffer for it. A tune for relaxing in the sun, reminiscing with friends and generally not having a care in the world. Excited for the album..

[Audio] Kavinsky reMixed by A-Trak

kavinsky

New is starting to come in about SynthWave pioneer Kavinsky’s new single, the first following Protovision and the excellent OutRun album. The subject of the single will be the album track Odd Look, which was the highlight of OutRun’s new material. Amongst the single reMixes will be this cut-up job from A-Trak.

Bringing a bit of an Electro Dancehall flavour to the track and turns the tune chord progression into a grinding chainsaw riff. The track is equal parts dancefloor igniting and sinister as hell. With brutal bass and cinematic leads, it’s the drums that really compel in this track. It’s a fine mix that leaves us with a taste to hear the rest. The EP is out soon, along with Kavinsky’s Dead Cruiser mobile game.

This is Your Kisses, a track that will be available exclusively with pre-orders of Bristol’s finest Indie-Electro rabble rousers The Other Tribe’s forthcoming new single My Girl. A soulful House track, this could have been a single in it’s own right, but who can turn down a freebie?

Nicely mixing up The Other Tribes’ infectious tribal EelctroPop with a slick deep House groove, Your Kisses is a perfect late night jam. There’s even a hint of a Torpical vibe in there too, which gives it a nice summery feel. Not that anything The Other Tribe turn their attention to doesn’t turn out summery as hell. If you get the chance to catch these guys live during the warmer months, you’d be a fool not to.

[Audio] Echoes reMix Marsheaux

marsheaux_thumb

Greek EelctroPop duo Marsheaux have just released their deluxe double CD version of their latest album Inhale via Undo Records. The second CD comes loaded with reMixes including this version of the title track from out old friends Echoes. A band who really should release more stuff.

Their reMix of Inhale reminds of everything we love about Echoes, and why we’re missing them (having not released anything if ages). It walks a tightrope between atmospheric and moody SynthPop and bouncy ElectroPop, and Echoes handle these two moods with ease. Using just the right amount of vocal for what they are trying to do, Echoes create something Poppy and dancefloor oriented and ultimately bright and shiny. Welcome back Echoes.

[Audio] Sharooz reMixes David AKZ

David AKZ

If you like raw House, late 80s bleepy grooves and strobing warehouse vibes then you’ve come to the right place. Here’s the latest reMix from London based dirty Disco peddler Sharooz. This one is a reMix of Once Upon A Time In The Projects, from autoKratz man David AKZ.

This is a tune that proper takes us back. Those clean drum machine beats, the gritty hooks, the floor moving basslines, the claps and whistles, this one’s got it all. Slowly building in the way all good House tracks should, when the reMix kicks in it goes full throttle with all the funk of a Summer Of Love anthem. Now, where are my white gloves?

[MP3] Aaron Alexis’ ‘Wild Nights’

Aaron Alexis

Here’s smothing a little smooth as we east ourselves toward the weekend. Out friend Aaron Alexis has served up this relaxing slice of R&B tinged Chillwave titled Wild Nights. Although it’s not really Wind Nights-esque, more like Slinky Nights, Aaron set’s us up for a chilled few days.

Wild Nights is a melting pot of Tropical hooks, Slo-Mo Disco grooves and R&B charm. Mix all that up with a laid back lounge feel and you’ve got the soundtrack to late nights in smokey backroom bars and moonlight swims. Deep woody basses and atmospheric pads rise and fall throughout the track, with haunting percussion and a determined clap beat. Aaron’s vocal croons out amidst a warm glow of reverb drenched sounds. Then gentle piano is just the icing on the cake.
