Mason and Róisín Murphy’s ‘Boadicea’ Video

Mason and Róisín Murphy’s ‘Boadicea’ now has a video.

We’ve already raved about the track a few times. I love a video with a narrative, this one stars off pretty harsh and then just gets badass. Really cool clip.

It was directed by Ron Scalpello.

‘Boadicea’ is out now and taken from the album ’They Are among Us’.

Funerals

There doesn’t appear to be anything minimal about Columbus, Ohio based Minimal Synth duo Funerals. Their tracks are thick, multi-layered, atmospheric synthesizer odysseys.

Musically, Funerals actually remind me a lot of really early Beep House tracks, the first few releases on Warp Records (think the first thee LFO 12”s), which defiantly endears them to me. The drums are harsh but dancey, the synths sound ice cold but seem to collaborate together to create an addictive robotic groove.

They’ve just dropped a new EP, ‘Marae’, and the title track is a relentless Industrial dance track which brings to mind some of the more Techno influenced Cabaret Voltaire (more Sheffield comparisons!) tracks or that period between New Beat and EBM. ‘AITU (LQD Live Edit)’ is pure Beep House/Minimal Synth crossover. Sounding like Fan Death reMixed by LFO in 1993, the raw analog drums and hollow synth melodies create a dark warehouse atmosphere with Mollie’s vocals just tipping the track over the edge into slightly scary territory.

Funerals – Marae

Funerals – AITU (LQD Live Edit)

I hate copying and pasting press releases, and hate blogs that do it, but I just have to share this piece of their EPK ‘cos it made me chuckle: “Producers Casey Immel-Brown and Mollie Wells are married, but listen: that means nothing. These songs don’t sound like matrimony; they sound like gray oceans and the terrible waiting for sun.”

Funerals’ ‘Marae’ EP is out now and features reMix work from Jokers Of The Scene! The duo also have just completed a reMix for electronic rumors favourite Minimal Synth ladies Violet Tremors, which we hope to bring you soon.

Ed Banger Presents ‘The Bee Sides’

I love Record Store Day. I just love the fact that Record Stores have a day! I practically grew up flicking through vinyl in dimly lit, smokey, emporiums so it fills my heart with good vibes when the record store is appreciated.

Mightyfools’ ‘World Tour’

Kicking electronic rumors into party mode are Mightyfools, who’s new single ‘World Tour’ is out now.

The Dutch duo have really knocked the banger out of the park this time. Their mashup of ChipTune and full throttle Electro-House is seriously body rockin’ stuff, this tracks is going to be killing dancefloors this summer. The drop and build is worthy of a post on it’s own!

Go mental peeps!

Burns reMixes HURTS’ ‘Better Than Love’

There hasn’t really been a proper, er, banger(?), mix of HURTS’ ‘Better Than Love’, which is odd ‘cos the track is crying out for one.

Enter Burns who’s latest offering is a deep Electro floorfiller version of the track, weaving elements of the original into an Acid fuelled Electro-House monster with some amazing builds. Burns know exactly when to hammer you with relentless arpeggios and when to slip you back into the song. Nice job!

♫ HURTS – Better Than Love (Burns’ European Sex Version)

Burns states that his reMix will be out soon alongside his ‘European Sex Dub’ version. If the SoundCloud track artwork is anything to go by I’d say it was going to be on some future single release of ‘Illuminated’.

Billie Ray Martin’s new EP

As you probably know by now Miss Billie Ray Martin has dropped another powerful House EP on the world in the form of the ‘Sold Life’/’Fantasy Girl’ double A-side.

The EP has a classic early 90’s House sound with a contemporary twist. Produced by Hard Ton the EP sees Billie going back to her classic house roots with a bit of Chicago and a bit of Acid in the mix. The B-side is a cover of Phuture Phantasy Club’s ‘Fantasy Girl’ and gets a low-down piano led remix from Snuff Crew, who’s hard, hypnotic groove brilliantly plays against Billie’s impassioned vocals.

And while we’re here, check the absolutely awesome reMix of Billie’s current single, ‘Sweet Suburban Disco’, (a track we already love!) by synth legend Vince Clarke, it’s really, REALLY, good! Classic SynthPop sounds with an added deep vibe and loads of electro toms!

Fabian’s ‘Puzzle’ (+ some LexiconDon)

Right about now we’re going to kick off your weekend with this new bomb from our boy Fabian.

‘Puzzle’ is actually pretty old, being Fabian’s first track under that name, but has recently come to light as the soundtrack to this GoPro video of Jamie Pierre ski cliff jumping.

Old or new, we’re glad it’s getting an airing, it’s a full-on Electro juggernaut. If this doesn’t get you going for a weekends debauchery, then I don’t know what will!

Fabian – Puzzle

Maybe this? Fabian and crew as LexiconDon reMixing Seattle’s Mad Rad into a Dubstep Rock psychopath!

Mad Rad – I Want Your Blood (LexiconDon BDSM reMix)

Fabian’s début EP should be out later in the year on Binary.

In Flagranti’s ‘Worse For Wear’

In Flagranti return this month with a new single, ‘Worst For Wear’, on Codek.

Apparently leaving being their trademark vintage porn-chic sensibilities in favour of a ‘”trashed-goods” vibe, the duo’s music is still deep, funky, Electro-House goodness. ‘Worse For Wear’ has that visceral organic groove that so many In Flagranti productions sport. It’s an almost physical compulsion to move to the bass. Mixhell is amongst the reMixers contributing to the package with a synthetic Disco workout with a powerhouse, Old School EBM-esq, riff, it’s like Nitzer Ebb Disco gone Acid!

SebastiAn’s ‘Embody’ reMixed by Kavinsky

SebastiAn’s awesome new single ‘Embody’ gets a dark and heavy reMix treatment from Electro genius Kavinsky.

Relentless marching drums and massive, growling, synths take over the track, Like much of Kavinsky’s recent work he seems to be moving further and further from hectic dancefloor tracks and more into an evocative and atmospheric realm of Electro. It’s like the 80’s through a distortion pedal!

SebastiAn – Embody (Kavinsky reMix)

The ‘Embody EP’ is out April 4 and also features a reMix from DJ Premier, SebastiAn’s début album, Total, is out in May on Ed Banger.
