[Audio] Mild Peril’s ‘The Duel’

Mild Peril

London’s Italo and SpaceSynth master Mild Peril this week unleashes a new collection of tracks on digital download or cassette. Teaming up with Telefuture for the release, Mild Peril neatly packages a few tracks we’ve heard before with one or two new surprises in a cheeky tape form. The mini-album, titled Matter,  features the likes of Excalibur and Galatine alongside new tunes such as Paladin’s Theme and The Duel.

Paladin’s Theme is the releases opener, and sets the tone nicely. Revelling in Mild Peril’s recently acquired Medieval overtones, Paladin’s Theme creates an epic mood but pairs that with some sweet orchestral hits (you know how much we love out orchestral hits!) and luxurious synths. The end result is not to dissimilar to a theme from an 80s sword and sorcery movie, it also gives Mild Peril free rein to delivers some truly soaring solo work that really makes this nine minute electronic oddessy something special. The Duel is more full on power-Italo, six minutes of driving apreggios underpinning some superbly rousing synthesizer melodies. Mild Peril guides you through the highs and lows of a music narrative that at times is genuinely exciting. The whole EP is well worth your attention whether you’ve heard  Mild Peril before or not.

[Download] Fare Soldi reMix Madonna’s ‘Holiday’

OUT028035

Seems like the recipie for the perfect sunshine tune. Take, what is arguable Madonna’s most chipper tune, Holiday, and give it to Italian Fico Disco pioneers Fare Soldi. right now we can’t think of a more perfect match to produce something that will, without fail, put a smile on your face.

Of course they kept the little synth Funk riff, why wouldn’t you? But Fare Soldi have teamed that up with a big bouncy bassline and a sweetly shuffling beat. Upbeat arpeggios and starlight keys spread out over a pair of duelling basslines (one bass, one synth) to serve up something think and funky and genuinely upbeat. Add a bit of Madge over to top and you’ve got something instantly recognisable to your ears and irresistible to your feet.

[Audio] Russ Chimes’ ‘Sula’

russ-chimes_thumb

It’s another new track from Russ Chimes;’ forthcoming EP. This one is the title track, Sula, which joins We Need Nothing To Collide in peeking out anticipation for this release. The EP is due out in a couple of weeks on Chimes’ own Uno Mas imprint which will feature three tracks, the two aforementioned and Your Love. We can’t wait.

Sula is a sampletastic chilled summer House tune with hints of the Midnight Club EP. Powered along on waves of rolling percussion a surprisingly old school Chimes bassline, Sula conjures a real sunrise vibe with gentle piano loops and horn hooks. This is some serious Balearic tinged euphoria, as Chimes injects this House tune with some real emotional moments. This EP is definitely going to soundtrack some of the finer moments of the coming summer.

[Audio] Meloder’s ‘Helios’

meloder

If you like your House Deep and maybe a little bit Techy then London based House producer Meloder is a good place to start. Having released some storming tunes for Pole Position Recordings and even done us the honour of remixing Box Of Wolves’ Let’s Start Again Meloder is gearing up for a new release via UM Records. Due for release in the coming weeks, the tune can be previewed now. Prepare for deep summery good times.

Meloder’s Helios is a juggling act between atmospheric sounds and a punchy-as-hell groove; and one he pulls off with style. Riding a powerhouse bassline and a big room beat, the track layers warbling synths and airy pads  to deliver a bit of a Balearic flavour over a tough command to dance. A floaty piano hook is the icing on this Sunrise cake as Meloder offers up a tune fit for beach party peak times.

[Audio] Lenno reMixes Chromeo’s ‘Jealous (I Ain’t With It)’

chromeo

This, we imagine, is the last of our posts about Canadian funksters Chromeo’s Jealous (I Ain’t With It). Once the stems to a song like this are released into the world, everyone and their dog grabs those coat-tails. We already featured Ride The Universe’s amazing reMix of the tune, a slick laid back Disco stormer. At the other end of the spectrum sit our favourite Finn, Lenno, who takes the track straight to the big room. We’re not expecting anyone to do any better than these two, so case closed.

Taken from their new album White Women, Jealous (I Ain’t With It) was Chromeo’s first single from the album, but weirdly probably the album’s least-strong track. That is, before the likes of Lenno got their hands on it. As we’d expect from Lenno, he makes things truly massive with layers of hugs synths, perfectly produced, Building and building over a Boogie-esque bassline that gives the track a little Disco undertone, Lenno would have the dancefloor in the palm of his hand with this one. Dave 1’s vocals are just the icing on the cake here. We’ve got this on on repeat.
