Lenno reMixes The Knocks & Fred Falke

Finnish producer Lenno is definitely one of our favourite producers working right now. His big room Nu-Disco sound, from a club point of view, is absolutely killer. When we heard he would be reMixing The Knocks & Fred Falke’s Geronimo, easily one of the tracks of the year, we were more than interested, and the track lived up to our expectation, being our favourite of the reMixes.

It’s up on Lenno’s SoundCloud now, so if you’re somehow one of the few stragglers who haven’t picked up the single at Beatport, this’ll convince you. Lenno brings his big sound to an already massive tune and the result is dancefloor genius. I hate comparing Lenno to Madeon, but if Madeon is fucking off to join his new Brostep friends, then Lenno is the man who’s name should be on your lips. No-one drops huge, complex Disco House like Lenno. I can’t wait to play this track out, a slice of funky euphoria.

Voyager’s new single

Voyager are one of the best outfits to come out of the recent explosion of Russian Electro. This new single, released on Kiez Beat in August is a track we heard a few months ago and have been eagerly awaiting the release since.

Edge Of The Universe is deep , cosmic ElectroPop. A track that looks to the stars with it’s mood and works a little house piano and a sweeping SynthWave tone to it’s Electro sound. the track actually has much in common with space age FuturePop such as Code 64, but with more of a musical slant, as evidenced by the soaring solos, and more of a dancefloor friendly groove. The reMixes are actually a little disappointing, the standouts both coming from fellow Russians The Frost and Folano, who rock ChipTune Disco and Italo sounds respectively. It’s a cool single though, the attention to detail in Edge Of The Universe is impressive, with little musical flourishes and atmospheres that interlock with the track. Cosmic ElectroPop? A new thing? We hope so.

Goldroom ‘Fifteen’ video

Goldroom’s summer anthem Fifteen now has a nice visual element in the form of this new official video.

Directed by Jacob Gibson, the video is very Goldroom, in the sense that it’s very Dreamwave, almost a spiritual successor to Josh’s NightWaves Sweet Carrie video, slightly more grown up, slightly more adventures, no less full of wonder.

F3’s new single

Silhouette Music are fast becoming one of the Dreamwave/Nu-Disco labels to watch. All of their recent released have been right on the money. Not only that but they have been giving support to some top up and coming artists. In the case of their next single it’s relative newcomer F3, two producers from Tel Aviv, Israel, who gets the labels support.

The single, Congo Bongo, is (despite the title) a slick, and pretty complex, Nu-Disco tune with enough Electro Boogie overtones to give it that slight edge. There’s a really nice way the stomping, percussion fuelled, rhythm plays against the floaty vocal samples, the hard and soft of the track adding to the comfortable party groove. There’s a bunch of reMixes on the single, covering a few different styles, but we have to give a shout out to our boy Silenx, who completely flips the script on the track, morphing it into a deep, atmospheric Synthwave instrumental peice. A majestic dark future soundtrack which slowly builds to a melodic and optimistic finale, both to the track and the single as a whole. Every single or EP should end like that.

Shook’s new tune

Here’s the new one from Dutch musical Disco master Shook. Hot on the heels of his recent, Ronika featuring, Distorted Love/Love For You double A-side single comes this new tune, Garota ’92. These days Shook has been purveying a more laid back sound and this track carried on in that direction.

Garota ’92 is loaded with Shook’s trademark funk bass and synth slides and with this new tune he fold a little Tropical vibe into his sound. Bringing the beach Disco with this one Shook transports us to warmer climes and good times. Working the vibe with big retro synths and a slight steel drum feel into the mix, this track is like the cocktails it conjures the mood of. Ain’t nothing wrong goin’ on round here.

MiGHty mOUse reMixes Hervé & Ronika

Hervé & Ronika’s old school Rave anthem How Can I Live Without You? (Make It Right) was finally released yesterday, revealing the most eagerly awaited (as far as we were concerned) of the reMixes. From the moment we heard both the original, and that London’s Disco don MiGHty mOUse was contributing a reMix, for us, that was the one to hear.

And it lives up to expectations, easily positioning itself as the standout of the package. Driven by a deep galactic funk, MiGHty mOUse takes us, and Ronika, out beyond the solar system with some of the most cosmic Disco you’ll hear in a while. A booming robo bassline is perfectly complimented by electro toms popping and pewing like laser fire off the starboard bow. This is the kind of jam they danced to in late 70’s Sci-Fi shows, when the did dance, especially in Buck Rodgers. Like the musical equivalent of a shiny silver jumpsuit, one worn by Madonna Of The Midlands™ Ronika. Which, thinking about it, she’d probably love. Addictive space funk, get involved.

Pat Lok’s new single

Today Canadian Nu-Disco guy Pat Lok releases his new single, Remember, on Frances excellent On The Fruit Records. We caught a listen to the original version back in March, it’s a floaty, spacey slice of electronic Disco with a dreamlike quality that wraps you in it’s funk warmth. Now the track has a full release with some pretty awesome reMixes.

reMixes come correct from fellow Canadians Sp00nfed and British production duo of Glyn Cosford from ICOMPUTE and Tronik Youth’s Neil Parnell, otherwise known as Wayving. Sp00nfed do a good job of keeping the dreamy vibe but Housing things up a little, morphing the laid back Disco into Laid Back beach House. Laying a little piano riff and some piercing synths Sp00nfed get right inside your head with this one. Pure funky dancefloor bliss. Wayving’s take on Remember is a rich, full, Disco experience, don’t let the toytown synth riff fool you, this is big tune. Riffing off ‘90’s House, Wayving lay down a solid groove guaranteed to move you.

It was only last month that we featured Swedish Nu-Disco trio Monitor 66’s single Her Bells. Hot on the heels of that release, as a thank you for all the support it received, the guys have droped a brand new tune, for free. Deep In The Night is a slick as hell was to say “cheers”.

Pure late night boogie, Deep In The Night is sexy Disco that cares about nothing but the moving you. Dropping a very slight Tropical flavour on to of the bass heave Disco sound, Monitor 66 drop a jam that is 50% mirrorball, 50% sunset. Smooth beats, smooth bass, smooth keys. The Knocks & Fred Falke’s ‘Geronimo’

We’re probably preaching to the converted here, I suspect most of you have already picked up a copy of The Knocks & Fred Falke amazing collaboration, Geronimo, which is already available at Beatport. Easily a contender for the tune of the year, the original, and arguably the best, mix is now available for your listening pleasure to convince you, if you haven’t already, that you need to pick this up.

What can se say about this tune? It needs to be heard, it’s massive. A grinding, funky five minutes of pure dancefloor anthem. You can hear both The Knocks and Fred Falke in there, the track has a The Knocks groove made Falk style massive. A catchy vocal hook you’ll be singing all day, reels you in while the huge Disco, with a Pop sheen, will just destroy you. Essential stuff.
