Good Night Keaton reMixes Gigamesh

gigamesh

Gigamesh’s Kitsuné released All My Life EP is still getting the spins round here, especially the funky as hell Don’t Stop. A confident slice of synthesizer Disco featuring the classic ‘70’s sounding vocals of Jana Nyberg. Here’s comes a bunch of fresh new funk for the tune from Good Night Keaton.

Good Night Keaton is Aaron Shanahan, skin basher for Indie-Dreamwave pioneers Miami Horror, and in his solo effort he lays down some serious groove. He’s making a bit of a name for himself with big  tunes combining the best of classic Disco and dreamy Nu-Disco summer vibes. He drops both right here in this analog encrusted slab of mirrorball goodness. Just enjoy, warbling Moogy bass, popping toms and twisting lead lines. Disco bliss.

The Sound Of Arrows’ free reMix album

The Sound Of Arrows

Well this is an awesome mid-week treat! Sweedish, London based, ElectroPop superstars The Sound Of Arrows are giving away an entire albums worth of reMixes, for free. The eleven track collection covered reMixes and edits, some you’ll have heard before, some brand new, there’s even the Wonders B-side, Longest Ever Daydream, thrown in for good measure too.

The album covers the duo past few years of single, featuring work from the likes of Visitor, Tiësto and Gold Dust on reMix duties but our picks have to be The Knocks version of the single Wonders, which takes a glitchy Disco approach to the tune which soon descends into full-on Electro-House dancefloor power. The amazing Mille and his now legendary reMix of The Sound Of Arrows’ breakthrough hit Into The Clouds, to which he lands all of his emotional, ChipTune Dreamwave charm in the perfect combination of ElectroPop and synthetic dancefloor nostalgia and Chad Valley’s deep, atmospheric take on M.A.G.I.C.. Chad bring a sparse Chillwave flavour to the track, supplying one of the albums deeper moments as it slips into House territory. It’s a rad collection, and generous of the guys to give it away like this, being packed with class tunes.

Goin’ Old School: Nitzer Ebb, The Shamen, Duran Duran

Goin’ Old School isn’t a trip down music memory lane, it’s a mugging in the dark alleyway of nostalgia:

Nitzer Ebb’s Control, I’m Here from1988. Classic Ebb, before they went a bit funny.

The Shamen 1988 Indie hit Jesus Loves Amerika. Not moving any mountain now are we? The Shamen, post-Industrial, pre-Mr. C.

1981 saw Duran Duran’s chart breakthrough with Planet Earth. It stared a revolution.

Diamond Cut reMixes Harts

Harts

The enigmatic Diamond Cut is easily one of the best producers in the world. As well dropping some of the best reMixes of the past few years, on top of one or two (too few) original tracks, he’s also had a hand in so much of the music we love. Everyone from Queen Of Hearts to Visitor have been graced with this Dreamwave guru’s talent. Producing other artists aside, Diamond Cut has been quite quite on recent months when it comes to his own work. Now he’s breaking radio silence with this new reMix of Australian Indie Rocker Harts début single, All Too Real.

Diamond Cut turns it into a slick dance track. Creating a smooth hybrid of Dreamwave and 90’s House, DC whips up the best of both worlds in this mix. Using the originals guitar riff in a way reminiscant of a bit of Daft Punk brings a little Disco touch to the tune. The result of this melting pot of styles is a cool, deep, groove with a retro synth sheen topped off with some impassioned Indie vocals. Hopefully this will see a return to a more active (in the release arena at least) Diamond Cut, more of these late night summer jams please. Diamond Cut leading the pack once more. The reMix will be released on limited edition 7” via Far Land.

Jonas Rathsman’s new single

Jonas Rathsman

We’ve been hearing hints for a while but now Jonas Rathsman is back with his third single. Following on from he Tropical flavoured Disco House of his last single, Tobago, Rathsman moves into more of a let night dancefloor mode, with slick, sexy, Chicago influenced sounds. Prepare to be hypnotised.

Since I Don’t Have You is apparently a love song that with resonate with lots of electronic rumors readers. It’s “a track encapsulating the love story between Jonas and his lost microKORG. He spent the summer with other synthesizers creating these healing melodies, but really he just misses his KORG.” We all know how it is when you find that one synth you just flow with, programming becomes like second nature and you do miss it when you’re working with other bits of kit. So what better way to apologise to your favourite synth that to rite a booming 90’s House jam for it. A pulsating House bassline and bell-like sounds capture the Chicago vibe perfectly while the ethereal lament over the top provides a soulful anchor for the track.

Russ Chimes’s ‘Back 2 You’ video

Here’s the video for Russ Chimes’ latest massive tune Back 2 You. A big tune requites a big video.

The clip was written and directed by Alex Nicholson at Meat Grinder Films. There’s wandering around London involved, I’m not sure if there’s a plot, I was too busy rocking out to the track.

Russ Chimes’ Back 2 You is released 30th July as a Beatport exclusive.

Clancy’s new tune

clancy

Rich Clancy is the cream of the crop when to comes to UK Dreamwave producers. I don’t think he’s  ever put out a track he haven’t loved, and although his tunes are too few and far between, when they come around it always brightens out day. He just dropped a new tune, Make Up, for free, so consider our day brightened.

Make Up is probably the most House thing Clancy has done to date. Rolling a deep 90’s House sound into his lush synthed Nu-Disco Clancy pulls off a hot, sweaty, late night vibe that draws you in with it’s digital bass grove and lifts you up on bright leads. The main hook is punctuated with a thick retro sound that gives the track a classic dance tune feel while, with the space use of the vocal sample and laid back Balearic percussion added to the mix, Make Up is pretty timeless dance music. Classy as hell.
