Well, this track has just about made my week! It’s ‘No More’, one of the extra tracks on the digital version of Queen Of Hearts current ‘Neon’/‘Tears In The Rain’ single, mashed-up with the instrumental of Tinie Tempah master hit ‘Pass Out’.
There’s not much more I can say about that. Awesome, instantly recognisable Electro track, awesome, epic vocals. Sorted. Frankly, if you don’t love this, you don’t love life, and are probably going to have a miserable weekend.

Here’s a new reMix from one of our favourite current Nu-Disco producers, The Finnish Lenno. Originally recorded for a re-cap video of a Nike event in Helsinki, the man has now made it available to download from his Facebook page.
We briefly check out out the original, it’s well done, but pretty standard Hip Hop from Gracias called ‘40k Volts’. Lenno has stripped it down to it’s barest essentially, keeping just the occasional snatched of vocal and the rebuilt it as a main room Nu-Disco stormer. Lenno has such a huge peak time sound that is fast becoming his trademark. Dropping an extra bit of House piano into the mix, Lenno actives an even fuller track, and a groove that is guaranteed to keep the dancefloor moving. Isn’t it about time for a new Lenno EP? We definitely think so.

No sooner had ElectroPoppers The Penelopes premiered their forthcoming new single ‘Summer Life’ than we are treated to this first reMixes of the track, from Dreamwave genius Gigamesh and Swedish bass master Style Of Eye.
Style Of Eye’s mix is a big droning bass monster, balancing the airy nature of the track and his own high-octane Rave but combining floaty arpeggios and storming hands-in-the-air synths he turns the ElectroPop track into a full-on party starter. Gigamesh, on the other hand, wows us with his slick Disco. Giving the track a little extra Funk, Gigamesh layers infectious bass with waves of shimmering synth work and truly makes a track for the summer. The use of the vocals, tailored to Gigamesh’s tune, switches the track around a little, whist the original was for lazy reminiscing, this mic is for dancing in the sunshine. We’re really looking forward to seeing what else the reMix package holds.

Portuguese prodigy, Mr. Rui Maia, A.K.A. Mirror People has dropped another of his bouncy electronic Funk reMixes, this time in the form of Gomma man Munk’s ‘Kitchen Call’ from his excellent ‘The Bird And The Beat’ album of last year.
Rui get’s a bit of Moroder in his blood for this reMix. Laden with popping analog synth bass and the subtlest snatches of vocal from the almost Hip Hop original. Replacing the breakbeat with a solid Disco groove this reMix rolls along, dragging you with it to the dancefloor, until the solo hits, then it just soars away. It’s definitely about time for a new Mirror People EP, don’t you think?

So, after a week of all things Little Bootsy and ‘Headphonesy’ you should have probably picked up the single by now, we won’t bother telling you how good it is again, thanks to the wonders of the internet you can go back and read out enthusing so we don;t have to type them again. But if you need still further convincing you a) probably hate fun and b) should check out our girl Ronika (Madonna Of The Midlands™ *sigh*)’s reMix. But be warned, it’s not what you expect.
What it is, is a fantastic late ‘80’s electronic Soul track, sung by someone who may have once been Little Boots before being pitched down an octave or two. The pitching suddenly warps Victoria into some kind of post-Motown Diva, accompanied by a shimmering soundtrack that actually quite dark in places. It’s a sumptuous track, that stands apart from it’s bedfellows on the single, delivering itself as practically a different song. A smooth groove amongst the frantic retro Pop. It’s unusual for someone to try something this daring with a reMix, and pull it off so well, especially on what could be considered a mainstream release. Most producers would play it safe. That Ronika just went with what she felt is something to be saluted.

To accompany his return to the monthly mixtape game Edwin Van Cleef has also dropped a new free reMix of ‘Nala’, the B-side to his ‘falling’ single. The original was pretty summery as it is, full of big sunrise moments. How much more summery can the ‘Summer Best Pals’ mix really be?
Quite a bit as it turns out, keeping the melodies of the original intact this new version ups the Balearic quota somewhat. If you’re dancing on a beach at some point this summer, there may be a good chance that you’re dancing to this, ‘cos this is what it was designed for. Pure good times Disco, with a hint of nostalgia to it, but mostly just the party.

So, it appears the Australian Indie-Electro legends Van She are getting into a Caribbean state of mind for the second single from their forthcoming new album. After the first single, and album’s title track, ‘Idea Of Happiness’, ‘Jamaica’ is less anthemic, more laid back. Quite fitting really.
It seems it’s not going to be alone on the album in it’s celebration of that part of the world and it’s music. ‘Jamaica’ is a nice combination of Tropical grooves and percussion with Van She’s own, instantly recognisable, sound. The vibes in this track are like a cool breeze, the buzzing synths and little indie licks playing second fiddle to the Calypso percussion and lazy Disco beats.

OK, so this is the third reMix of Goldroom and Chela’s ‘Fifteen’ we’ve featured this week, I think we’re going to tone it down a little from here on in. From now on reMixes are going to have to be pretty fucking outstanding for us to feature them, not that we wouldn’t feature anything less, but y’know, the bar for being featured has just gone up.
But we’re really diggin’ this mix from German producer Kelek. We’ve featured a few of his reMixes before, we love his slick ‘80’s Italo sound. What he’s done here that has particularly captured out imaginations is, either by chance or design, change the rhythm of the chorus. Now, most of the time when rEMix do this it;s a disaster, producers miss the ‘breath’ on the first beat or something and throw the timing off in terrible ways. Kelek’s shift of the chorus actually works though, and works well. It give the vocals a lazy drawl which kinda’ ties into the hazy reminiscent vibe of the track. Add to that Kelek’s rolling electronic track with it’s laser pads and bright lead line, it successfully captures the heart of the track, but in a very different way to the original.
