This is the new video for the forthcoming Gold Teeth single from Dan Le Sac Vs. Scroobius Pip. The product of a collaboration with Flux Pavilion is taken from the duos forthcoming third album Repent, Replenish, Repeat and was débuted at Bestial earlier this month (we know this fact because we were there)

Directed by Scroobius Pip and in his own words “This is what the classic “Rapper in a strip club” video would look like if half the industry didn’t lie about how rich they were”, which is so true and pretty hilarious.

[Audio] Bright Light Bright Light’s ‘An Open Heart’

Bright Light Bright Light tends to release a lot of material, mashups, reMixes, alternate version of tracks, mixtapes, but it’s been a while since we’ve had an actual brand new release from BLx2. Giving his début album, Make Me Believe In Hope, sink in was probably a good idea. Well, here we are with the first single from his second album, An Open Heart

‎The track comes from Bright Light Bright Light’s forthcoming In Your Care EP and was written and produced alongside Ian Kenneth from Trouser Enthusiasts (who you may remember us being pretty excited about Rod rediscovering them for the reMix of Waiting For The Feeling). It’s a bright, sparkling slice of ElectroPop with a definite mid-90s Pop-Trance vibe which provides a nice counterpoint to Rod’s slightly melancholic vocals. Starlight lead lines are perfectly balanced by a throbbing bassline in this classic sounding four minutes of Dance Pop. Looking forward to the new EP now!

[Audio] DCup & Mereki’s ‘Don’t Be Shy’

Out this week is the new single from Australian Disco-House producer DCup. Featuring the vocals of ElectroPop artist and Goldroom collaborator Mereki, Don’t Be Shy comes with a packed collection of reMixes from the likes of Wave Racer, Tyler Touche, Boys Get Hurt, and Slumberjack, but it’s the original version that really pops with a summertime groove.

A light touch of plucked guitar glides over this thick bassed floorfiller. Loaded with filtered synths, singing strings and a laid back Disco beat, Don’t Be Shy provides the perfect, carefree, poolside party backing for Mereki’s sweet vocals. The combination of the pulsating synth bass and the playful vocal gives Don’t Be Shy that certain je ne sais quoi that the best late night, good times, Disco has to deliver, and this one delivers it in heaps.

[Audio] Grum reMixes Luke Million’s ‘Midnight’

Does anyone else, when someone mentions Leeds based dance music genius Grum, get (to the tune of Monty Python’s Spam) ‘Grum, Grum, Grum, Grum, Grum, Grum, Grum, Grum, Grum, Grum, Grum, Grum, Grum, Grum, Grum, Grum’ stuck in their head for about an hour afterward? No? Just us then. We feel a bit mental now, but it’s good to finally get that out. We also feels a bit mental ‘cos we refer to ourselves in the corporate ‘we’…you know I’m just one dude, right? Life is odd.

Oh well, to combat life’s oddness for five minutes and nineteen seconds Grum has delivered this absolutely rock solid reMix of Australian Italo-Disco producer, and a bit of The Swiss, Luke Million’s Midnight. This is actually a bit of a throwback tune for Grum, like Grum of old it’s borderline Dreamwave in it’s right emotional retro synth sound. This, warbling bass, lush pads, the kind of piano hook that just wills you to move, this one has got all the ingredients for dancefloor rocker supreme. We love it!

[Audio] Jensen Sportag’s ‘Under The Rose’

Well, the countdown clock has started. We are now on the home straight to the November release of Nashville synthetic dreamers Jensen Sportag’s long awaited début album, Stealth Of Days. We don’t wanna’ boast or anything, but we’ve had our hands on the album for a while now, and it’s served as the prefect soundtrack to the end of the summer, it really is a piece of work that is worth the wait. The awesome Cascine have outdone themselves with this one.

Right about now, you can grab yourself another taster of what to expect. Following on from Bellz, a track the released just over a month ago, wrap your ears around Under The Rose, the kind of track that makes your legs go all wobbly. Impending wheelchair bound status aside, the track flows along it’s own ChillPop R&B stream, bringing with it plucked guitar and rampant slap bass alongside undulating dunes of synths. This is the kind of tune that looks right into your soul, resonating with your mood, and then says “nah…your soul’s well boring, let’s go dancing”. And does. Better than you.

[MP3] Gigamesh reMixes Talking Heads’ ‘Once In A Lifetime’

The background hook from Talking Heads’ 1980 classic Once In A Lifetime, has been sampled in everything from Hip Hop to House, now it’s the turn of Minneapolis based synthetic Disco merchant Gigamesh to bring the jangles to Disco with his pretty storming reMix of the track. The man is heading out on tour this autumn, you can find the dates here, so this one makes for a nice primer.

A nice primer for the weekend too, as Gigamesh deliver the grooviest of backbeats, an infectious mix of Disco and Big Beat, to drive the shining Once In A Lifetime hook and a cavalcade of psychedelic synths. Gigamesh does what no other reMixer of this track has done before, that is to look at the song and think ‘how would this have worked if it was initially written as a dance track’, and keeps faithful to the original arrangement while really getting perfectly where the breaks and builds feel like they should be.
